As for pads personally I'm the outlier and am a hard pad user. Loved SteelSeries whole lineup (I2, SX, S&S, etc) back in the day. I now use a custom SkyPad XL 2.0. With my previous main being a custom C4 Ngen I made backed with a thick plate of stainless steel. When it comes to hard pads smoother is slower because of the added friction due to the surface area. The C4 Ngen is unique since it's woven Teflon making it slick but have texture. Back that with a hard piece of metal and you get a very unique experience!

Mouse pads are very important. The cheapest way to have a good mouse pad is to just determine if your *wooden* desk is smooth enough to use. Otherwise finding the best mouse pad for you whether that be the most control, fast, slow, or most accurate for the sensor is important. There are so many different textures of mouse pads that assuming your first mouse pad is perfect, may not be the best idea. Nice video.

I have 2x artisan pads (hien and zero). I recommend getting the zero xl Xtra soft. After breaking in the pad it feels really fast on the glide (faster than the hien) and very fast stopping speed. You should try one when u can order

I've been using Artisan mousepads after also just getting into Valorant (my first FPS game), and I have to say, the Zero and Hien have been very nice and durable. I find myself being more consistent on the Zero (soft variant) and managed to grind through to Immortal. Hope you get to try one from Artisan soon!

Other brands have caught up to the Artisan, I've been using Artisans for almost half a decade now and honestly, I really don't know why people would pick up one now when something like the LGG lineup exists. Apart from the Raiden and the Shidenkai, there's really no reason to get Artisans nowadays.
@syedjimmy17

@@UTOOOOOOOY I think the appeal is for someone to test out a product from a company that was ahead of the game back then, and has received much praise because of the quality their craftsmanship. I was quite surprised the first time I received my Hien when compared to my HyperX Fury S. Also, I was not able to get hold of the LGG products 2 years back. Could maybe give one of them a try in the future to compare them to the pads I currently have.

welcome to the mousepad rabbit hole. currently i rock a zowie gsr with a g pro superlight with superglide skates, pretty solid setup if you get passed the break in time of the glass mouse skates. currently in ascendant on the way back to immortal and would highly recommend the gsr or gsr se, been a staple control pad for as long as i can remember. good luck on your grind and figuring out what works!

I've used a bunch of mousepads, but the best mousepad I've used is an Artisan mousepad. It just feels smooth and super precise. The price is worth if you want to find the "best" mousepad, but if you have better things to upgrade than it isn't. For example spending 100$ on a mousepad would not be as worth it than spending 100$ on a better mouse or even a better keyboard to improve overall gameplay.

I have a Hayate Otsu XL soft and it's an awesome pad but I've recently tried a square xl size mouse pad (50cm x 50cm) and I think it's the perfect size for someone like me who likes to have their pad at the edge of their desk and their entire forearm on it without feeling the need to wear a sleeve when it is not very hot in their room. I have an aqua control 2 sakura 50 x 50, really great mouse pad but the base is definitely not the best... (it moves and even after a few weeks of use I can't get it to stay completely flat). My next purchase will be a LGG Saturn PRO XL Square (similar to an Artisan Zero Xsoft, maybe that's the one Pattycakes recommended to you ?) and if it's too slow for me I will buy a Venus PRO XL Square (similar an Hayate Otsu Xsoft).
@scofrona
@scofrona Год назад
I've currently got a G502X and an X-Raypad Aqua Control +. The AQ+ is pretty reasonably priced, but the big sell for me was a hybrid pad ("fast with control") I could get with my custom artwork. I almost feel like the skates and the mousepad are more important than the mouse in consistent aim. The wisdom I've always heard is overshooting means your dpi is too high. Something like being able to do at least one full 180 without lifting the mouse (whatever bounds are comfortable for you) is the sweet spot. The thickness/squish of the pad can also change how much "control" you have on a fast pad, it's why I think the Roccat might not have worked for you.

I would recommend trying dpi changes on the slower pads to find an easy micro adjustment speed and a good speed. In a few games you can change how much the cursor moves depending how far you move the mouse. Just play around with some settings and find what works best for you. I have a really cheap mousepad and it still feels like really high quality movement.😊
@Naokarma

My best results are with picking something that I like and sticking to it. Tied a lot but back then I ended up choosing the Steelseries Qck mousepads. Been using the line of pads for +- 8 years now and can't comfortably use any other pad because I got so damn used to it. I'd definitely have to readjust myself with a different pad.

I had a similar experience to you when I first started playing valorant regularly. Before that I just used a cheap desk mat I got on amazon, but after valorant I started to look into mice and mouse pad options and soon became relatively obsessed with them lol. After trying many mouse pads (10-15) I finally caved and bought an artisan zero Xsoft and haven't even considered going back to any other mousepad. The glide is perfect for valorant with low initial friction but somehow has really good stopping power and offers an almost aim assist feel because of this. Also I have been using it for over 6 months and it still feels incredible, alot of pads I have used previously would feel great out of the box but would turn into inconsistent mud mats after a month or so(cough cough Logitech and Zowie) but I have noticed no such problem with artisan, I might try something new when my zero finally wears out but for now it is easily the best pad I have ever used and well worth the money.

How are your mousepads doing now Betty? Sometimes they may change their feel and performance over time, especially those with a special coating. And consistency is something to be desired because it messes with your muscle memory. It can take at least a few weeks or even a month to wear in a mat, or even longer with infrequent use.

Hello, one advise from me after I have spent a lot of cash on mousepads and mice (and some keybords,help lol), if you find a mousepad you can always adjust the mouse cpi/dpi and lift-off distance etc and I have found that after I tuned my mouses almost any mouse pad is good, so I have stopped at some xxl glorius mousepad because it looks nice on my desk and I have a great control on it with almost all of my mices like gpx, v2pro, v3 deathadder, roccat kone air, roccat kain and many more. Very great videos and rew. keep it up with the good work. Cheers!

Want accuracy and speed? Cover the mouse area of your desktop in 3m 1080 m12 (matte black) vinyl, then get glass skates for your mouse. If you rest your wrist on the pad a lot, a Deltahub Carpio (with PTFE tape on the skates, because glass skates aren't available) is a good idea. Ideally, with proper ergonomics, you shouldn't need the carpio but... realistically, everyone needs a wrist rest, and a solid desktop with a 3 mil layer of vinyl will not protect your wrist like a soft pad does. Don't use glass skates for work, though... You'll be moving documents and folders more often than opening them due to the increased sensitivity.

I could notice that I would have more control with the mouse. Which also happened to be the same mouse that I had: the G502. For just tracking, a mouse pad is not needed, but it definitely makes it more pleasant while giving more control. It also helps protect your mouse feet from dirt and dust. I use the one in my closet. (T shirt) in my opinion it’s an endgame because all I do is play Minecraft so I don’t need that much movement but it works. My other mouse pad is a kinetic labs desk mat
