The Vision Pro is one of the coolest new pieces tech in many years. It's almost like magic. But despite all its amazing capabilities, it's not without its faults.
So what is it like to work in the Vision Pro? Can you concentrate, can you get stuff done, can you be productive? Or does its faults making doing so impossible? I find the answer to those questions in this video, and discover both bad things and the good things about this device along the way.
If you liked the video, give it a 👍 and consider subscribing. It helps me with that algorithm thing! 😉
Thank YOU for watching!

Agree... It was nice to see someone get down to business and do real work, none of the content creator bs, really well done video. The most amazing thing is that this person can be so comfortable and actually doing work within hours of using this thing for the first time. Imagine what he will be able to accomplish with more experience, know how, and finding the ideal ways of working on this thing. Apple has never been about gaming or just having fun for fun sake. At the core, Apple has been about being productive first and foremost.

I think the air that you feel on your left eye might be coming in from fan. There are two fans in Vision Pro, each on directly behind each screen. So if there is not a completely seal of left eye, that might also explain eye tracking issue you were mentioning.

Your video randomly came up in my feed after I watched some other reviews, and yours was by far the best real world review I've watched. Great work! How easy is it to copy and paste lots of blocks of text between different documents ? Is it quicker/easier to use your mouse with select/copy/paste shortcuts or the eye tracking/finger gestures ?

In terms of fixing the glitch where one eye tracks successfully but both don't, this tip from Apple might help: "To customize which eye you use to control Apple Vision Pro, go to Settings > Accessibility > Eye Input. You can choose Both Eyes, Left Eye Only, or Right Eye Only. Try this if you need to use one eye to control Apple Vision Pro input. "

Great video - and I have seen a lot on this subject. Curious about typing. I’m not the greatest at it so I do have to occasionally look down at the keyboard when I am typing. Is that easy to do? Seems like your field of vision would require you to make a deliberate head tilt versus an eye glance. Thoughts?

Thank you! 😊 Fortunately you can drag the virtual keyboard around wherever works for you. However, using the virtual keyboard is a bit slow and it does mean having to glance down and then back up to make sure everything went in properly. For the air flow deal try t add king off the rubber seal temporarily. Doing this may help with eye tracking. I’d also reset your IPD since you said that one eye closed helps with closely placed objects. VP is awesome for CAD work and I’m also using it more and more for music production.

4:49 Apple will need to fix that glitch or that flaw with the eye tracking. 6:15 This has been my question about the pressure the headset will create at the areas where the headset frame makes contact with your head. 6:15 The areas where the headset makes contact with your head will become painful or irritated after long hours of use. 9:20 I can perceive that the visuals on Vision Pro are clearly seen and it shows every detailed significantly.

I have the same issue with eye tracking where it will sometimes points below where I am looking. Thank you for the tip about closing one eye! One additional wet blanket I encountered negatively affects the spacial computing aspect- when the headset shuts down, it doesn't remember app/window placement upon the next boot. I believe it automatically shuts down after x number of hours so don't get too attached to your app placement.
@PSYCHOV3N0M
@PSYCHOV3N0M 3 месяца назад
There's no shut down mode. It goes into standby mode. It still keeps the placement of your windows, etc in standby mode. It's when you unplug the battery from the headset which cuts off the power that you lose your window placement.

Same issue with eye tracking for me. No matter what work around I tried (recalibrating, restoring completely and setting up again, using single eye tracking in accessibility settings), the eye tracking would highlight below the actual target. While it wasn't the only reason (lots of other compromises, omissions and inconsistencies in both the UI and available content/functionality), it was a dealing breaking issue that ultimately led me to return the AVP.

Your review has been the closest to my experience with the Vision Pro out of everything else that I’ve watched. I’ve worked long stints in there (5 hrs ish) and I was able to get some good work done. Being able to have key apps around you helps with multi-tasking. Biggest complaint is about the eye tracking. I also almost always get the issue where it’s selecting input right above or below where I’m actually looking. I’ll have to try closing one of my eyes as you’ve suggested.

Great video. Are you able to open multiple desktop apps like one would do on multiple monitors? besides adding desktop + vision pro apps around I wonder if you can have the "multiple screen" experience using MacOS desktops apps (slack, teams, office, etc) all around or does it limit to one window for all your desktop apps?
@JoeNokers
@JoeNokers 3 месяца назад
My understanding is the vision pro is only able to have one "monitor" open at a time when connecting to a laptop. All other windows need to be vision pro apps. So for example you cant have photoshop open on one "screen" and illustrator on another, you have to switch between the two applications.
@Wake_._Up

What is funny is that when the iPad came out, some people were saying that the fact it was not possible to use more than one application at at time was not a limitation, but was a good thing because it helped you be more focused... I did not agree with that back then, but I certainly think you do not need Apple TV+ or the stock market to be always in front of your eyes!
@acslater017
@acslater017 3 месяца назад
I find it helps with both multitasking and monotasking. There are times when you do need to reference across multiple things. But it’s not like you’re forced to look at them all at once, they’re typically arrayed around you in a semi circle. In a way, it’s a throwback to pre digital times - for me, my monthly calendar is to the left, my document is in front, my mail is to my right, my music player is behind me, etc. They’re all “full screen” apps and to cross reference them, rather than shrinking and resizing windows, you simply glance between them or walk between them. In an odd way, it’s very similar to the old days of having your documents, calendars, organizers, etc. physically spread around the office. You can even leave a family photo anchored in one spot. And when I do need to hunker down and focus on one thing, I make it large, dead center and replace the visual distractions in my room with a calm nature scene!

Someone made this suggestion for the eye tracking calibration and it completely fixed it for me (with the caveat that if you don't put the headset on exactly the same way, you might have to recalibrate again): During the calibration, make sure your eyelids are totally relaxed. I realized that I would unnaturally raise my eyebrows and eyelids when looking at the upper calibration dots, but when you're casually looking up, you wouldn't do that. After fixing that, my eye tracking was pretty much pixel perfect.

a real killer feature would be having each mac app window being able to be positioned in 3D space just like the apps running on the Vision Pro. But I bet that would be pretty hard to do. The current integration with mac os is very lackluster. They need to either dramatically improve it or let the Vision Pro run mac os apps.
@Llamu
@Llamu 3 месяца назад
the coolest thing to me about the macOS integration is universal control Edit: Also I understand this would probably be harder to do than it sounds but because it has an m2 chip in it (along side the r1 chip which handles all the XR stuff in order to not slow down the m2 chip) You should be able to run Mac apps natively or at least some of them. The only problem I would think of is that UI designed for a Mac would be kinda frustrating to use with eye tracking

bought mine a few days ago and i’m trying to hard to justify keeping it. reasons i might be returning: - the eye tracking is hit or miss (doesn’t point to where i wana click sometimes as you mentioned) for example, when im on safari watching youtube and im trying to expand the screen size or change the speed of the video with the little gear icon on the bottom right of the video, all the little icons are right next to each other so sometimes i end up fast forwarding to the end of the video or clicking the wrong icon and this is super frustrating because i have to zoom in, click, and then zoom out - mac mirroring was more limited than i thought it would be. it’s not possible to hear the sound coming from the mac and also u can only have 1 window open when mirroring your mac - limited things to do on it (barely any apps) - glare is bad to the point where parts of the screen are green or white due to the glare - pass through is bad (hard to use my phone, really hard to read and respond to a text when wearing the vision pro) - keyboard is super hard to use. personally, i found it easier to just look at the key i wana click and click my fingers together instead of reaching out infront of me and typing as if there was a keyboard infront of me. - unintentional gestures: sometimes im just laying in my bed using the VP and i rest my hands in my stomach and sometimes the VP thinks i’m gesturing because my fingers are too close to each other. i’ve also heard of people eating M&Ms and the VP thinking they’re gesturing. - battery life is not great. some people say they get 2-3 hours of use but i found it to be closer to the 2 hour mark. on the other hand, i think battery life is OK tho cos i don’t think anyone should be wearing this for more than 2 hours, i highly recommend people take breaks after even 1 hour and charge the battery while you’re taking a break. it’s my first VR headset so FOV seems ok but i can see why some people say it feels like they’re wearing binoculars. honestly, i think this will be an amazing product by its 3rd iteration when it’s lighter, cheaper, and the software improves.

Is the “mouse” pointer in the AVP/iPad apps a pointer or a “dot” like on an iPad. Is it easy to copy and paste between apps and the virtual desktop?
@Llamu

When it's on the Mac screen it's a pointer but as soon as you drag it to a Vision Pro/iPad app it becomes a dot. And I don't have a Vision Pro but I'd be very surprised if you could copy paste or drag files between the Vision Pro and the Mac like you can with the Mac and any other device that supports universal control

Great video. This is a Brave New World territory. The number of screens you work with was so overwhelming to me. It was excessive and no way that can last. Even holding your fingers up in the air to pinch the entire time instead of resting on a desk would be exhausting. What about standing and walking while working, did you try it or did you feel disoriented? One user found a visual pointer in accessibility to help pinpoint tiny or crowded spaces.

Thank you! And yes I did try standing and walking around while working. In other VR headsets I've tried, I usually get significant motion sickness. However that was surprisingly not the case with this one. It isn't a perfect pass-through of the real world, but there is almost no latency and it is the clearest version of the real world I've seen in a headset and the colors are all accurate. So I think that helps a good bit. Haha - and yes you're right, it is a lot of screens. Definitely an interesting exciting new territory to test things out in 😊

The question is, what was the exact line of work where this was a successful use case of Vision Pro? In the video, we see trading graphs, lots of content consumption, notes that need to be display on an individual basis for pinch zoom... Doesn't look at all like a real workspace to me. A real workspace would typically be efficient, focused, unless that day of work was somehow mostly for consuming content (studying for example).

Altho spatial computing looks kinda cool… I’m still not sold on it yet. Will have to try it myself. As a creative who writes as well as edits a lot of photos & videos, I’m still not sold on how this will make my workflow faster. Yeah, it looks cooler than just staring at a computer or ipad screen, but will it actually be better? I dunno. Watching a movie or consuming media might be fun… but only if you’re alone. I would find it weird watching a movie like this with other people around. Especially if I was the only one watching. Even if we all were wearing vision pros, that’d be weird too. So disconnected from each other. I don’t like that. Also, how bad is this for the eyes? I Remember growing up how my parents used to tell me & my brothers not to sit too close to the television screen. 😂 Well, with this the screen is literally on your eyeballs! 😂 That can’t be good for your eyes. Again, looks cool. And yeah, I wanna try it for myself. But I have my doubts wether I’ll ever use such a device for all my creative content creation or media consumption. It just seems so niche to me right now.

im Working for 1.5 years now in VR (Pico4, Quest3) - and seeing how many windows you use.. hmm --- i started also with 5 big Screens in VR... but after some time you notice: it does not make you more productive, its kind of opposite its also some kind of unergonomic so finally - after 1.5 years - i ended using one virtual big screen and 1 small screen below that maybe one aditional small screen at the side too many screens do not help to focus on work.. its bad to work when your head ist constantly turned to the side or you have too look to much upwards so for me: one mainscreen. and 2 small additional screens... working works great for me. can fokus more than with normal screens

The problem with any vr headset is how harmful they are to the eyes.

It’s called an Apple Vision pro, not “The Vision Pro”

As a work assistant/aid, this technology could be very interesting in 2-3 generations time (ie around 5yrs or so), but right now it’s so primitive and gimmicky that anybody pretending they really benefit from hundreds of floating screens vs a couple of monitors is just kidding themselves. Real productivity gains would come from AR where you’ve got a real time AI assistant providing you with content and suggestions that you can instantly add into work as you wish.. but again can take place via conventional screens. What’s crucial is working out how the unique side of VR headsets really can be utilised to the best.

Nobody wants a VR headset or Ski Goggles on to do work. Ski Goggles you want them off your face after a 6 minute run down the hill and those weight 120 grams, the vision pro is 600+ grams. (1.4 pounds)

honestly, you're look ridicoulous with all those screens around you. Who need so much screens to work seriously. I'm happy for you to have an AVP but do it easy with the bullshit.
