I Tried Xbox Cloud Gaming On Every Apple Device!

Testing out all my Apple devices - iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini in the hopes of finding the best way of playing Xbox Cloud Gaming. I recent bought an Xbox Series X, and subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, and without a gaming PC anymore, I wondering, can Xbox Cloud Gaming be a substitute for a gaming PC? Watch for more.

I have tried Xbox Cloud Gaming and I had a fun time for the most part. I used it on Android and the experience is much better compared to iOS. One advantage that Android has is that you can hook up your controller via USB-C to help reduce latency. There is still some room for improvement and I hope we get to a point where most of the technical issues are resolved. I just wish Apple wasn’t so stubborn about cloud gaming as I think it would be a success for the platform.

The Xbox cloud service must be improved, for sure. There is a lot of potential though. However, the console streaming via Xbox app is really good! I travelled a couple of weeks ago and decided to bring my Xbox controller to try playing with my iPad mini 6. The experience was solid! I used the Hilton’s Wi-Fi and got no delay, lags or anything!

I tried Xbox Cloud gaming on my low end multimedia pc (basic "office" optiplex with i3 and 8G of ram in it and windows 10) and i didn’t have any sort of issue like you did. My internet connection is only 50mbps. No lag, no pixelation, very smooth gameplay and surprisingly low latency, only noticible in few games.

You are having a common Wifi 6 issue with conflicting hardware, as such your speeds would improve if you went down to Wifi 5. Xbox Game Pass Cloud gaming have screen controls for some games. It usually mentioned it in the game listing. Whilst you are likely to experience lag with streaming, your setup adds lag with the Wifi and it’s aforementioned issue, and the controller being connected to Bluetooth. Microsoft recently showed a new feature that is suppose lower latency by a lot. Good video.

What I like about cloud gaming is the option to game without a console. No graphics card or insane amount of storage necessary. Cloud Gaming for Xbox is still in beta stages, but once the technology is complete, it will be amazing. I wish Steam would come up with their version of cloud gaming because they would gain more customers.

i have the opposite experience with cloud gaming, i also use xbox game pass and honestly i really enjoy it, i usually play mortal kombat 11 and forza with a controller plug in to help reduce input lag and honestly for me, lag and resolution is never a problem, of course you have the occasional freezes but overall i do really enjoy, i think it varies a lot because i get about 50-70 mbps and when playing games like mk11 where having input lag just messes up the experience completely, i gotta say i do really enjoy it

I assume performance will vary by location since some people may be closer to Microsofts data centers than others. The latency should improve over time once fiber optic cabling becomes the norm. If anything, it's the convenience factor that is the selling point for cloud gaming in it's current state.

Exactly I subscribed to cloud gaming without owning an Xbox ($1 for 3 months deal) and gotta say I’m still fairly impressed. I travel A LOT for work, and being able to play games on my iPad that aren’t Apple Arcade games it pretty convenient. I actually do plan on purchasing a Series X once I get back home. But the kicker is: hotels have awful internet speeds. I find myself having to plug into Ethernet via dongle to get a playable experience at times.

When latency resolution and fps are perfected then Sony and Microsoft will make more money off their cloud gaming services through playstation now and gampass ultimate since last Gen consoles can play next Gen games on these services. So an average gamer can play next Gen, have a massive library of games, not have to install the game on a digital console model with low storage, and have potentially better resolution and fps than their system by itself can handle.

For playing on MacOS be aware that for aostnall cloud gaming options you have to look into the location services fix. It's simply a toggle setting but it's a deeper top level setting so it may or may not be a hassle for those interested. If it would be a hassle having a second login on Mac with the setting disabled and is just for cloud streaming helps a lot. Which also addresses the issue with desktop cloud gaming general which is that it functions best on a device which doesn't ping the internet unnecessarily

Watching this to find a new solution for gaming on the go after Google has announced it will discontinue Google Stadia. Stadia solved the Bluetooth-input lag, and streaming-lag issues, and it worked perfectly and was just so easy. Such a shame. I really hope the rest of the cloud gaming platforms take note and adopt the good things from stadia. I strongly believe Xbox will become the biggest game streaming player, since they already have the user base and the library, and they can take their time developing the tech. Stadia unfortunately had neither the games nor the users, and hoped the albeit clever and practical tech would sway the market. I love Stadia, and I hope so badly that Xbox can incorporate the clever solutions Stadia found in the future to really create for gaming what RU-vid/Netflix/etc was for the home DVD player.

Some of the problems pointed are not only on Apple devices but also on regular Windows laptop. The lagginess and the bugs are present, and I avoid to play the big tittles, but for more simpler games it is ok. I've tired Xbox Cloud Gaming from Brazil on Windows, Mac, iPad and iPhone and I had good enough results. But the thing is: iPads, Macs and iPhone (Specially iPad and Mac with M1 and M2) have all the ingredients it takes to run triple A games and become a MASSIVE industry on games. But like: Apple doesn't makes things easy for developers to do so. The most annoying thing I've experienced XCG is the fact that you CANNOT play at all on 4G. Where I live on Brazil we still don't have 5G. If I'm on Wi-Fi, it's easier to grab my Xbox controller and just play on the console. The lack of the option to play some parts offline is a huge flaw on my opinion. The truth is: I wish Apple devices should be better at gaming and they are not even a real option when it comes to gaming. 🙁

The amount of data required to play on xCloud is something that makes 4G/5G unviable here in Brazil. Of course, unless money it's not an issue for you. Microsoft showed the xCloud numbers in Brazil a couple of months ago. There're lots of people here that are xCloud users only (I'm one of them). It's a viable option to Brazilian players when the hardware, and software, prices are ridiculously high.

Cloud gaming is more suited to offline and story based games imo.Competitive gaming is a strict no.

I have rarely had the kind of experience others have with lag. I see so many videos where they have better internet speeds than me but their gameplay looks awful. Mine is slow and it’s top-notch.

Tbh my experience has been great, there is a small lag. But once you continue to play u barely notice it.

I'm very impressed with Stadia, the tech is really good, the games and small player base leave a lot to be desired. On Stadia (with a good connection) i frequently forget that i'm even cloud gaming.

Stadia's tech without the best games means nothing. Xcloud will only get better and better and Stadia will become even more irrelevant in the near future.
@KungPao_CHKN
@KungPao_CHKN 2 года назад
@@Miag_vip It’s Google, I doubt it’ll be irrelevant considering it’s a strong hold in the latency department. Playing on my M1 12.9 iPad Pro with my Xbox series 2 Elite is top tier. The game selection could be better but with partnerships like Ubisoft it’s doing all the right things. From a business standpoint of seeing any major games or pushing for major game releases, that would be held off for the future when the market is more active with users to advertise to.

Idk if it's out of beta now or what but I find there isn't any input lag or video quality degradation. I've tested multiple games on my pc and iPhone in using cloud and downloading the game on my pc and they seem to have flushed out bugs. Won a singles match if Fortnite on my iPhone even

sry, stupid question … did you use ethernet or wifi with the Mac for these tests? I would even use an ethernet dongle with my iPad for cloud gaming.

Apple needs to do it. Rn I im working overnights but have a ps5 but I pay 14.99 a month just to play them on my iPad. Yeah it doesn’t compare but getting paid sometimes to play games. I wish apple would stop I wanted to play a couple new games and u can tell it just can’t handle it

Do the first person shooters work with mouse/keyboard? Or is it more just simulating a console experience?

This video glaringly left out testing with a LAN connection. Wifi is undoubtedly going to have unwanted latency so testing with a LAN connection when possible will improve the experience like button responsiveness and motion.
