Honestly, your knowledge of Japanese culture/language is adding so much to this playthrough already, and I'm only 7 minutes in! Even if you don't play more episodes of this game specifically, it would be so cool to watch you play more games with Japanese dialogue, as someone who doesn't speak the language at all.

Omg !! Jahara trying one of my favorite serie of all time is a dream come true 😭❤ Yes, Zero is very narrative focused and there's a lot to see ! I don't have many advices because i know you will figure a lot of things as you'll advance. My only recommandation is to try some of the substories and mini-games because they're soooo fun to play (yep the karaoke too, even if it's kinda hard at first) ! Good luck on this journey ! If you're planning to continue, i'm here for the ride 😎

The noise I made when I saw this! This game was my first experience of the series, and man does it pack a punch. You're right about not immediately understanding certain motivations though, haha. It took me a while to get some parts. It's an interesting glimpse into another world, in more ways than one.

YOOOOOO! Best series スタート Yes, Kuroda-San has such a great voice, especially his singing voice. Yes, it's 100% a fictionalized version of Kabukicho called Kamurocho.

There definitely is a Yakuza community. I describe it as The One Piece of video games. People become obsessed and do what I call anti gate keeping. They spend so much time begging others to play it. My only advice is make sure to do as many side stories as you can. These are where some of the funniest or most charming content lies. The main story is usually a serious crime drama, but the side stories are where most of the memes come from. Perfect day for you to start this, a new side game was just announced this morning at the RGG summit at Tokyo Games Show.

Hey, first time watcher here! Since you asked, the code on the pager at 12:00 "724106" does have a meaning - it's composed by numbers read in different ways (some on-yomi, some kun-yomi, some English). Here's a breakdown: 7 -> nana -> na (な) 2 -> ni (に) 4 -> shi (し) 10 -> ten -> te (て) 6 -> roku -> ro -> ru (る) so, 724106 means "nani shiteru?" (何してる？) or as written in game, "Whatcha up to?". I hope you enjoy the Yakuza series and will continue playing it on the channel ^^

I see a first timer play Yakuza, I click play. You should totally play this game to completion. Experience the absolute ecstasy, horrific tragedy, and everything in between that is this game, where EVERYTHING HAS IMPACT. You will not regret it.

A little fun fact on the games mechanics: The style switching came from the studios previous entry, which was a Japanese history piece. The upgrading is meant to be reflective of the time period you're in, that being Japans Bubble Era.

Welcome to the franchise, I hope it grips you as much as it has its existing community! Since you're mostly just here for the story, I think it's prudent to at least advise you to get familiar with the different stores around the map and make sure your inventory is well-stocked with healing items so you don't walk into what we call Long Battles without enough heals to push through, especially as a first-time player.

I love how you caught the Kabukicho parallels. Kamurocho is basically a fictionalized version of Kabukicho, and since all but this game take place in the year they were first released, you can basically watch as Kabukicho gets gentrified over the decades as you play the series. It's... kinda sad.

I think you'll enjoy this game more if you play the sub-stories and the many mini-games rather than just clearing the story. I think you'll get hooked on this unique world that you won't find in other games, so please play until the end and enjoy it!

@@bipstymcbipste5641 I know for certain that he voices the male lead in Vol. 2 of an R18 drama CD series called Futari no Himitsu ("Our Secret"); each volume is about you, the listener, and a male character who's your boyfriend, getting into steamy situations. Each has some sort of feature to them, such as "masochist boyfriend," "boyfriend who likes doing it outside," "yandere boyfriend," and so on. Kuroda's character is "boyfriend who's good at teasing you." It's his birthday and he comes home late from work to find you made dinner and a cake for him. He's happy, but he elects to celebrate in other ways...😏 He's done some G/PG/PG-13 romance drama CDs too, such as Kindan Kyuuketsuki: Shibara no Kenja ("Forbidden Vampire: Sage of the Purple Rose"), and Ojisama Senka Vol. 8: Save My Girl ~ Watashi no Bodyguard ~ ("Older Men Specialty Vol. 8: Save My Girl ~ My Bodyguard ~"). There are fan translations available, and audio too, if you just Google search. I'm hoping there's other R18 stuff he's done, but seiyuu tend to do those under pseudonyms, so it'll take some searching.

This game takes quite a while to pick up. You’re rather restricted in the first few chapters. Once you get to around the end of chapter 3 is when things really start to pick up

I learned japanese culture because i love the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series but seeing someone with a good understanding of japanese culture playing a Yakuza game makes me happy that this franchise is loved
