I am an actual Border Patrol Agent. Here are a few fun facts: 1. Local laws pertaining to weapons don't apply to us. We are federal agents like FBI or Federal Air Marshals with federal jurisdiction nationwide. In fact, as federal agents, we can carry our weapons on airplanes. Local and state law enforcement cannot except under very specific conditions and a whole lot of preparation and paperwork. 2. We get along very well with local and state LEOs. We back them up on their calls and they back us up. I have responded to vehicle accidents, armed robberies and disturbances. 3. The media likes to highlight our immigration enforcement but our most important work deals with sex traffickers, drug smugglers, cartels, transnational gangs (like MS 13) and terrorists.
