His smile is what really makes his sculpt come together. He’s a bad@$$ and knows it and this was a nice stress-relieving stroll for him. What a nice day. Love it
he turned out great! I don't know why, but the whole bone motif in his armor and the colors made me think of the 80's film Willow which just started a sequel in the form of a tv series. The reason why I thought back on that film was because there's this evil General guy named Kale who wears a bone mask and I think also has other images of bones in his armor. This character literally could be the character's son..
Omg he's actually really handsome. Also you should make a mushroom witch, or something like that. Also if your serious about the rotar I would recommend the Hyper Tough 1.5 AMP rotary tool. I use it for sanding big resin pieces but it also has other tools for cutting through plastics etc. There are probably cheaper options tho, that's just the one I got and have been using
The gauntlets and greaves (shin thingies) turned out really nice! And I can't help but imagine Dentistor the Demon Scourge just going to rub his eye and "Aaaugh!" " "You stabbed yourself in the eye with your gauntlet-saber again, didn't you?" "...No..." "Spare eye patches are in the lavatory." "...Thanks..."
If I were making a character like this, I wouldn't have chosen a doll with a wide smile. But it ended up making him look sort of smugly pleased with himself (28:26), which honestly would make a death knight much more terrifying than a somber, stoic expression would. It means he's just that confident that he's untouchable. I feel like that's WHY he doesn't wear a helmet - he wants his opponents to see just how little of a threat he thinks they are. Also, your sculpting skills are better than you give yourself credit for. You have a good eye for detail, too. You'll only get better with each project you attempt, so keep up the good work 👍
I have to say, I almost didn't trust the process with that ribcage and the arms - but the second you put those shoulders on it clicked for me. I adore this man~! Great job!!
He looks Awesome! I am so finding a Ken doll and turn him into either Rupaul drag race doll like how Hextian did his or disney villain or demon which ever. Which Idea's do you think I should try for Ken doll? See you next time.
@@randeerepaints3403 I want to try Oogie Boogie, I already made a concept art of him in my version once I completely color him along with other Disney Princess's & Disney Villains I gonna be so thrilled if Hextian ever looked at my very first art book for beginners of free hand.
You are right, his face sculpt is really nice and I am glad you did him justice. I think you did great on the sculpt! So happy to see that pastels can be used for blushing with the brushed on modpodge finish, because that is what I intend to use. Can any kind of pastels be used? I haven’t worked with pastels really, I have some that someone gave me. I am doing a ‘test my skills’ sculpture, too, and I am really enjoying it. Thanks for your hard work!
Ohmygosh, his face is so beautiful!!! Idk how well it matches with the theme and whole of him, but i love that personality that he has. It's not to say that the armor and stuff is bad: it's really well done! It's just a lil strange to see and hear how you envisioned him with such a suave face on, ya know?? But that would be really interesting for that kind of a guy i think!! earthtolylah and Catmeleon Studio make sculptures out of their dolls, and they manipulate the pose of theirs if you ever want some ideas on how to go about that kind of thing.
Do you think I can make this my job ? Buying dolls, customizing them and selling them ? I’m just getting started (and I am still 15 and learning) but maybe with years of pratice i can make cool dolls and sell them !
There are going to be challenges in pursuing any artistic job, but it is possible! If I'm being honest I'm not an expert in making money from my art, I got burnt out while taking commissions and decided to focus on making videos instead. I'm very lucky that I have people that support what I do and make it possible for me to pursue this path. I think that starting early and maybe putting some research into how other people have found success in this field will help you in the long run. Even if you find that you can't make doll customizing your full time job, it could still be a way to supplement your income in the future.
