I turned Catalyst into a WILLBENDER: This is Getting Nerfed (Gw2 WvW Roaming)

Actually it's more like Willbender on STEROIDS if you know what you're doing with it, though it's still a roamer build, not a duelist build for tryharding/in other words it's probably still off-meta. They'll probably nerf core elementalist because this Catalyst build is too strong. For the record, I don't want it to be nerfed, I just know how Anet operates when it comes to balance patches. Actually, I don't know how this would hold up to a highly competent duelist, they're so rare in WvW these days that I haven't been able to test it on one yet. Definitely a great pug smasher build though lol. My advice: play it like a core elementalist D/D build, since you don't have the stability uptime of a usual Catalyst build you'll need to strike a good balance between being cautious and brazen, since it is such a bursty build. Just wanted to say thanks for this. I’m a thief main looking for a new fast class to play, and I’ve been very intrigued by Ele. Between using daggers, the high mobility, and the burst dmg, these seems perfect for an assassin archetype lover. Now to start learning Cata 😂

Yw I think you'll really enjoy it, it does play a lot like a tankier/stealthless teef. For learning's sake I just want to mention that athough Cata is the superior way to play this build, you could play (roughly) the exact same build but with earth (or arcane) traitline instead of Catalyst, and it's still quite good like that as well. I'll definitely do that, especially since I wanna go ahead and level (another) ele from scratch to really get a grasp of everything it does traitline and skill wise. While I really love the idea of dagger gameplay, would it also be worth to familiarize myself with either scepter or hammer as well?

@@BlackMoonAvant No worries man hammer and scepter/focus are good for sweat duels where you really want to win the 1v1 lol, hammer can even 1vX pretty well sometimes on a fire/arcane cele cata build. Hammer outside of catalyst builds imo is a bit slow mobility-wise but the damage coefficients are quite high, it's a worthwhile weapon to have in your inventory. Scepter FA builds are still very common for ele and definitely worth learning, it's also worth noting that scepter/focus FA builds are usually the only builds that can (somewhat) reliably defeat thieves as an ele lol

Won't be nearly as mobile or adaptive as D/D, but yes it would probably be good with Sc/F as well, you would just want to be more careful of 1vX situations.

Maybe. Anet tried making ele relevant in PvP and in the end all they did was make it even less relevant by nerfing it twice as hard as they buffed it to begin with. But I don't play much PvP so idk, I think that game mode is a competition of who can be the best at being dog shit. Lol

Tyty, sword/D cata is quite good. Each have drawbacks. D/D is better at mobility and in my opinion has the most consistent/reliable damage. Sword requires you to be a bit more intentional and choosy about your skill usage when on the offensive, it's less spammy and you have to be better at hitting accurately in close range (although a recent patch made the accuracy a little less important by increasing the strike radius of the 3 skills). Both have good weapon-skill-evade access (dagger fire and earth, sword water and earth). Dagger feels slightly more smooth with fresh air trait, sword works very well with it too and can hit a bit harder sometimes. tl;dr its good

I Like watch how you play. I have na problem to kill moust calses but still have higher problem to kill harb or mesmer.. Lolo from mesmer i get 5x4, 5 k dmg in 1 second xD fuck me they cry we plaing cele ele but if someone play cele elixir harb is fine.. Solemn do you fight vs some druids? Ist crazy shit dude.. ^^

Lmao yeah dude some druids are insanely tanky but somehow still have enough juice to down you, same with harbinger in general - most of them are like that. It's only ok when it's not ele. >__>

Noted and feedback appreciated! Basically I'm just showcasing how this build is extremely bursty, highly mobile, slightly nuanced, and very reliable with high cleanse uptime + sustain as a result of cleanse uptime via Nayos relic

@@Gleandra I hear that, I'm often caught between wanting to appease the perpetually unimpressed crowd by downplaying every kill with jump-cuts, but also trying not to mess too much with peoples eyes with max-speed sped up footage, and I think I went a little further than usual with that in this video. I'll try to make the next a little easier on the eyes and slower paced so that it's easier to see the nuances in what is happening. Thanks o7

Tbh while I recognize the state of balance in this game (and ele's role in it) I guarentee most catas don't use this build; they'll probably run some boring, slow bunker variant bc "muh arcane traitline" or they'll just take tempest. I've only seen a few players run similar builds and most of the ones who talk to me about it end up disliking it and going back to what they had before. Also worth mentioning that 90% of cata (ele players in general really) I run into in WvW are absolute dogshit but that applies to every class since wvw pugs are just fodder always. tl;dr I wouldn't say so but yes wvw is scuffed regardless

Damage maybe, although I donno, I've been bursting ppl down faster than most willbenders burst me down. And I'm definitely faster than willbender :P I out-speed them regularly, it's so cute, they think they're faster, but they never are. XD

Did you watch a different video? It's pretty clear that the build itself is outrunning literally anything it faces. I don't actually think there is anything in the game faster than fire/air DD cata besides thief. I understand if you don't like the cuts though, that's ok

You do know that 95% of WvW players are slightly above average at best and terribly unskilled at worst, and if I wanted a video fighting against skilled players it would take a week to get enough clips? Maybe you're EU and it's different there idk I haven't spent much time in EU lately. In NA, this is the best you're going to get unless you have a very specific matchup or call some well known roamers to fight you. Which is dueling, not roaming. This is a roaming build/video designed to demonstrate a build and the fact that this game is occasionally fun. I did not make it to impress sweaty tryhards who haven't touched a woman in 5 years (not directing this at you, but I run into ppl with this attitude often and it's obnoxious af) edit: also if I wanted clips of me dying to cele harbinger mains it would be a death compilation

Nobody will run your build ......high risk=low reward...not for as long as WvW full with harbingers, willbenders, perma stealth thieves, deadeyes. Out of 100 players.....50 will be willbenders, 30 will be harbingers, 10 will be permastealth thieves...the rest of the professions in the remaining 10 spots, so I ask why run your build when out of nowhere you can get instagibbed by broken willbender hammer or longbow while permaboon everything or harbingers with the IWIN elite or permastealth thieves who will just exaust you mentally before backstab to win?....There is too much low skill cheese in gw2...and I won't run anything risky on ele....ever again, for me is condi gear/cele/crusader everywhere and just use zerk stats with weaver staff for max bag collection.

That's fine I just don't think what you describe is very fun, nor would it even be worth playing this game if I had that mind set (I would have already quit if I talked like you do here). The risk isn't actually that high for me since I have so many hours on similar builds, I would say I win 8/10 to 9/10 1v1s on this build because most players are (let's be honest) worse players overall regardless of build, but yea getting caught off guard by a bursty willbender or ridiculously tanky harbinger (really any necro spec can do it tbh) is annoying. Remember you do have the option of just running away with high mobility on this build
