Ever wondered what it would take to turn the gas giants of our solar system into habitable worlds? I decided to take on the ultimate challenge in Universe Sandbox-terraforming Jupiter and Saturn, and then, just for fun, crashing them together to see what would happen.
First, I had to tackle the biggest issue: their massive size and crushing gravity. I reduced their mass but kept their radius the same, transforming these giants from gas-filled behemoths into rocky, barren planets. By eliminating hydrogen and helium and replacing them with iron and silicate, I set the stage for a radical transformation.
Next, I introduced water, oxygen, nitrogen, and a mix of trace gases to create an atmosphere capable of sustaining life. To keep things warm and cozy, I cranked up the surface heat capacity, making sure the temperature stayed stable even without a sun nearby. As I increased the surface pressure and thickened the atmosphere, something amazing happened-green vegetation started to cover the planets, and city lights began to flicker on the dark side of both Jupiter and Saturn. It was like watching life emerge from nothing.
But I didn’t stop there. After making both planets habitable, I decided to add a little extra flair. I placed tiny artificial satellites around them and gave them beautiful rings. And then, the grand finale: I collided the two planets. The result? A cataclysmic explosion that fused them into one superheated mass, with temperatures reaching 30,000 degrees Celsius. As the heat subsided and the dust settled, a new planet emerged-dark, mysterious, but somehow still habitable, with patches of green and city lights peeking through the shadows.
This journey through space and planetary transformation was wild, unpredictable, and absolutely mesmerizing. It’s crazy to think that even after a massive collision, life found a way to survive. If you’re into space, science, or just mind-blowing experiments, this episode is for you.
