I really think you should keep the room in this layout! Every month, you could have your current faves as those facing outwards, and keep your monthly TBR on the island! Plus, it's just happy vibes :)
It's like the bookshop in Good Omens - absolutely beautiful, but doesn't actually sell any books. Both the best and worst bookshop ever at the same time 😂
This video was so much fun! I work in a book shop, and i can tell you that writing those little recommendation notes, and people trusting them enough to buy the book is pure joy! And if they then come back and say they loved the book and want more recommendations?? Christmas!
Just bought my first house and the idea for the library was exactly to make into a bookstore for myself! The closet has stationery and totebags, the table in the middle has all the 12 editions of Outlander I own ❤
Sorry for making this about me, but I just want to let you know that I started watching you a year ago and you have inspired me to pursue a Literature degree. I just finished at community college and I’ll be transferring to my dream university in a couple of months at an unconventional age because watching your channel made me realize that I would not be satisfied with my life if I didn’t just go for it. Your channel is inspiring and really makes me excited about reading and writing books.
It looks like living childhood dreams and it also bring up the memory of me setting up a stone and seashell museum with my siblings after some holidays, we also created a booklet to show our parents what our museum is about.
I wish jack would state his opinion about the recent Audible drama about the prices and how they are basically monopolistic in the audio book industry.. it’s sad and needs more people to talk about it..
This was a fun video to watch! Suggestion: Jake maybe consider doing a series interviewing and/or a day in the life of a someone working in books: author, editor, bookstore keeper, someone that works in archives, a book binder, a collector of rare books, and someone with a unique private library etc!
Soooo you legit just created my dream. I want to be an independent bookstore so badly, just terrified of the financial burdens that might hit my family.
Some others have probably mentioned this, but it might be a good idea to put metal connectors at the top & bottom of the thin corner shelf to attach it to the ones next to it, just to hold it in place & make it sturdier (which you can buy at Ikea). I did it with mine (which has a similar layout to yours) & it made it feel a lot safer.
This is giving me the vibes of when my grandparents let me convert their living room into a library with my papa's recliner and TV tray my desk to check out books. Each wall was their own genre, they were signs to be quiet, and every book in the house had a library card in it. It stayed that way for years. #notspoiled 😂
My one real dream in life is to have a home library/ cafe that people could drop by and borrow/ buy for a donation or completely free. Just in like a detached shed. So this is serious vibes. I just feel like there arent enough free places people can go to simply be and some places don't have accessible libraries
I subscribed because of your library - and it looks so GOOD as an independent eclectic bookstore ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Please keep playing around with your library, you are putting dreams to reality! 🤗🤗🤗
This is giving ME when i was little, with everything i had, i made boutiques of my clothes, a shoe store, bookstore, stationery shop, a miscellaneous store (very creative ha ha), obviously a toy store and what not..... this video made me so happy
I started watching your videos in the middle of the night when I just had my daughter and of course didn’t sleep for months 🤣 I still watch you now she’s 2 and she recognises your voice and it instantly comforts her 🥹 so thank you for getting me through the insanity of sleep deprivation x ur a real 1 x
Jack you are the absolute cutest! Your love and enthusiasm for your books is infectious!! Youve just taken the childhood home corner role play to true bibliophile level!! Love you amd your videos and I look forward to the bext one!! 🙂
This really just kept getting better. I love the dedication but also I know want my own home library to play with. And the lines killed me! Dark jackademia!! 😂😂
im usually a quiet audience and doesn’t comment here but i NEED a video of jack organizing the shelves like how libraries do!! it’s the former library staff and INFJ in me that i just have to watch it 🥲🫠
seeing your new books, I'm excited. I saw that you were learning french when you were in Paris, honestly for learning a language, reading books in that language is so helpful, especially when you passionate about it
Okay this is just SO SATISFYING. It looks so fricken good 😍 I’m moving our *big bookshelf* into my room soon so, get ready for me to make an even more budget version of this 🤣
I love this and I would be tempted to leave part of it up to perhaps spark reading or writing ideas. Just needs a rug and a cosy chair/lamp/side table!😊
This is adorable. I would love to see people (friends, family, neighbours maybe) interact with the space and actually choose books to read. It would bring even more life into it
I laughed so much when you said " I turned my home library to bookshop ", my mom always say that to me saying if I sell my books I can make fortune but no my books are the richness it self 😂
Same. I’m a stay at home mom, but make enough money to pay my own bills by painting and donating plasma.. but sometimes I do struggle to pay something and my husband says “you can just sell your books” pffff as if. I tell him they are an investment lol.. they’ll be my kid’s books one day too.
@@rubyanddelilahandnani yes totally right books are meant to be for generation not only for us, I was building my own library since I was a little one and it grows with me, some people spent their money on vacation, expensive clothes a d nothing goes wrong with that of they have money but for me having more books is my ultimate target, I am now 46 and I have more than 6000 books, let's see if I could have more in the future which almost is a crazy decision to make right now due to the economic crises but I did put honestly the September month of every year to buy some books especially English because I really don't have so much and this is making me frustrated and angry due to their expensive prices. If someone could gifted me some I will be so thankful and delightful. Thanks for stopping by and comment. Wish you a good health
I would love to visit “Read the Room” as an actual location someday. This is TOO CUTE! I was worried at the start, it was a little slow going, but when you turned the clothbound classics, I thought, “oh, now we’re going somewhere!” So fun!
This is really fun. I want a TBR table :) I visited Marseille public library last year and they have purposely emulated a bookshop vibe in their graphic novel & comic section. It worked fantastically.
Hi, you should keep the set up. It looks cool. You can change the sign to 'TBR' and 'Most Anticipated' instead. Therefore displaying your new books. Sorry for the broken english.
This video was SO much fun. I actually work at a bookstore, and setting books like that is my pride and joy. And yes, I alsp display my faves whenever I get the chance. You did a marvelous job at recreating a bookstore! This might genuinely become my favorite video of yours because it's a little silly but so, so fun.
So I stumbled across your vid about retellings of The Odyssey and Penelope just today, had never seen anything from you before, and literally was asking myself if this guy was sitting in a bookstore to film. Clicked the link over to main and this is the first video I’m watching. Love it!
Without exaggeration, this is one of my favourite RU-vid videos ever! I wish I had a fake bookstore like this at home, much more than a walk in closet with handbags and shoes on display. FYI I wouldn't dismantle any of it (maybe the till), and I'd organise it with the TBR list in the middle of the room. This video sparked a dream of having a playroom like this at home! Best playroom ever!
I quite literally choked on my drink when you mentioned Stoner by John Williams. It has remained my favorite book (so much so that I own two copies) purely for its flawless writing; I always thought you'd enjoy this book. Couldn't recommend it more!
Ohmygosh Jack it looks so great!!! The first impression when entering the room actually made me squeal haha This basically made me (a librarian) want to go straight to work and cover my assigned sections with recommendation cue cards
7:27 You can still display them like that - not extra storage needed, just "hide" behind some other small books. It works best with deeper bookcases, but yours also can be done like that. I have some of Terry Pratchett's books displayed like that (with similar covers that your books have) - and some of my books hidden behind (the ones I have already read AND are not that good looking). And also some other stuff hidden behind bigger books as my bookcases are multi storage solutions (so behind big album about architecture I store noodles and groats as I don't have enough space in my kitchenette 😆) EDIT: I think that now that library loos better then before. And you can change books that are on display :)
