I Turned My iPhone into a ‘Lite Phone’ 

Just setup my phone to match. This is so sick!! Was super keen on buying the 'lite phone' but just wouldn't be able to survive without maps, camera etc. This is such a great alternative. Appreciate the vid :)

Did anybody notice, that he did not even consider adding the phone app. Probably the last thing, that people nowadays do with their "phones"

Another thing is to switch on monochrome mode, really helps reduce screen time. Great tutorial btw keep it up!

i did this from another set up months ago and it's really life changing. Also having a cellular apple watch helps. My screen time is now around 2 hours from over 6.

Great idea! I am currently using Opal for my distraction free discipline journey sort of thing.

Apple Notes is powerful in its simplicity. I've gone astray from it as well. Notion has been my go-to since then. And Things 3 is super cool too. Can't get too distracted by software. Content creation and consistent frequency matters most.

I cut it from the roots and just got the apple watch and forgot about the phone. I'm only missing to take notes, but you can write and see task. You can take calls handsfree and after a month it feels more like a watch, the battery last all day even two days, I just wear it 24/7 and the wake up alarm is the most comfortable I've ever try.

I have an old iPhone I’d like to prep for my mom who is scared of all the buttons so this would work out pretty good

What do you do if you need to search something up quick on chrome or downloaded a specific app for a job or task?

How did you add the hidden shortcuts folder? the folder itself is self explanatory but how did you have it hidden at first and then have it drop down?

Thanks buddy. That’s a good trick. I will remove the apps from the home screen and I don’t need this list. Just removing them and add black wallpaper will be enough for me. I hope so.

I had a similar setup for awhile, but ended up going with a blank screen with 4 “invisible” shortcuts in the dock (Headspace, Apple Music, Phone, and the brick app). I just pull down and search for any apps other than those in the dock. And I use the Brick to keep myself on track.

Do you just use Things or do you use a calendar?

I really like this idea! Thank you for sharing! Technology is to help us, not hinder us, this is a good way to reduce unnecessary addictive habits of checking and burning time on smartphones. I struggle with this greatly as RU-vid is my weakness. I’m visually impaired and rely on technology to help me access my world, it allows me to see things I can’t see with just the aid of glasses, but I it’s also my entertainment, which has gotten out of hand.

I am too used to using the search bar, (swiping down) or swiping left to the App Library, this approach does not solve these 2 issues, does it?

Hello Tim, I found this video great . . . but I'm a Android user. Are there similar apps/widgets that can accomplish the same thing? ALSO . . . wouldn't you want to also put a phone widget in there or is that covered by the Messaging app. Presumably the calls would just come through normally, if you were called, right? Your side-hustle video is also very interesting, as I have been listening to Steve Dotto's videos (similar in content, but more related to introducing the tools and their use) . . . yes, time management (and initiative) is the key. Thanks again for your time and talents and wanting to share it with the rest of us.

I love the idea of this but I think I'd need more discipline to keep to it. I like the idea of having this on a work focus mode to stay focused too!

Did this months ago with the same app, and for the very same reason. Lite phone is way overpriced so I stripped down the iPhone's interface and aligned my list to the right for one-hand use. That extra friction involved in getting to any other app through my library was enough to break the compulsion to always be on the stupid thing.

Tried it. My Blank Spaces widget is black. I can't get it the same colour as the background. I also don't know how you added the hidden widget at the top with shortcuts. More explanation was needed in this video.

there is no such thing as making an iPhone a lite phone. swipe right -> app library. swipe bottom -> spotlight and have quick access to any app.

Interesting, dont think i would be able to stick to it, the addiction is too strong. RU-vid and Twitter is taking a lot of my time, i defend it by watching mostly educational content

Great, so I will unsub you and a lot of others RU-vidrs that I always see. Limiting subscribing or following content creators can also help reducing watch time/media consuming.
