You can also bait others into killing you. Just start swinging at people as a group shouting something vaguely threatening. They kill one of you and then outpost takes them out. Or even you can sit a good range outside outpost and snipe into it using a friend as a spotter/looter.

You should try experimenting with the "Storage Monitor". If you place a box backwards under a research table, you can place the Storage Monitor and it will be hidden behind the research table. If you're precise, you can wire the input and output so you can open a door to a shotgun trap when people try looting the box, then bait people into going deep into the base.

I've never thought of outpost as the safest place in rust. in fact it's probably the exact opposite. I remember my first few hours in rust a guy said to meet him at outpost and he'd sell me my first gun for 100 scrap. I met him at a trade window and he used a trade window glitch to scam me. I learned quickly that day.

In console some servers have mountains next to outpost if you build a tower base you can snipe people using the scrap machine and your friend can retrieve the loot

One time I was in a big clan right outside outpost on a big hill. We could hit ppl recycling from our roof so we’d wait for a geared guy to start recycling and we would kill them and take their scrap w a bolty.

There is a strat around outpost which is 10 times more OP than this.. However u will be instantly perma banned on some servers if u do it since some admins wont allow it at all and others will think you are cheating. - Run outside the safe zone with one acc and disconnect just outside in plain view. - Log into another acc and run into the safe zone with your gun equipped, and hide in a blind spot behind a wall or something where u dont get shot by turrets. - Then use the dance emote so people cant see you have your gun out. (dancing hides the gun but it will still be equipped) - Let your friend put a hazmat at the dc body to bait people AND ENJOY! Watch endless people leave/enter the safe zone and to loot the dc body.. then shoot them in the back from inside the safe zone :) I have done it for almost 2 years now, and spoken to the devs countless times about it, however they are not patching it since outpost was originally designed so people could kill eachother like this so its just an old part of the game that is still possible if you are creative. Again some server admins wont understand it and will perma ban u on the spot so do it at your own risk. All the admins I spoken with and explained the strat to, had no clue how the safe zone actually worked. Some unbanned me and was mindblown, some did not care and kept me banned xD If you want to spice it up, you can also block one side of the outpost with a camper van, so people are forced to leave outpost where u sit :D I did it on facepucnh 2 months ago and was shortly gamebanned because of mass report for cheating xD I got unbanned again almost instantly, but it gives an idea how effective this strat is

Another outpost trap is build a foundation with a locked box within turret range. Idk if you can on pc but on rust console you can build close enough to do it
