In this video, I turn a CHEAP RC truck into a BRUSHLESS BEAST!
This is one of the most impressive RC cars I've ever converted to brushless, and it's simple to do. If you're looking to upgrade your RC truck or just want to try something new, then watch this video and see how I did it. I guarantee you'll be amazed at how well this works!
The ARRMA Mega 4x2 range is one of the best ways into RC especially for beginners as they are an incredibly good platform to upgrade.
Out of the box they are very capable and perfect for a first timer but when I reviewed the senton 4x2 I couldn't help but feel it needed more power and a better steering servo!
I got this truck for my 4 year old son as his first proper hobby grade RC car and agreed to upgrade it for him as his skills progressed and it's now time to give the truck lots more power compared to the brushed system and finally put an even bigger smile on my son's face!
Anyone wondering if it's best to buy a mega 4x2 or go straight for the 3s BLX version I would say if you are just starting out consider the 4x2. If you are an RC regular and a fan of the BLX range then get that from the start as it will possibly be cheaper in the long run!
Almost all the parts featured on the vehicle today are donor parts from my old Arrma Granite brushless conversion (The one I started the channel with) and this conversion has cost me minimal money to do!

Thanks once again for 20k subs!! Lots of videos and hard work now as the next big milestone will be 50k subs!! You guys are awesome! What do you think of the ARRMA 4x2 Range? They are great for beginners, spares are everywhere and they incredibly upgradeable! But is it all worth it or just buy a RTR 3s BLX? Let me know your thoughts and opinions on this.. 😎

I’m loving my Senton boost apart from the ESC blowing up and the servo going dead(both replaced under warranty but servo upgraded to a better 25kg one) but the amount of mud and crap getting into the chassis was ridiculous so I’ve fitted a dusty cover and now it’s nice a clean inside lol

Really awesome upgrades you did to this! It certainly changed its rather no frills mega motor to a real MEGA Truck! With a throttle control adjustment on the controller, a 2 year old can drive this! Great job brother!

Can you fit the heavy duty spur to the slipper that comes with the boost or do you need to replace the whole slipper clutch?

I did that too... It turns out the only replacement for my v1 Senton is a Senton boost with all the BLX bits swapped over. Congratulations on the 20K+ subs, I remember when you only had a couple of hundred subs, I remember commenting that you were going to make it big(ish) lol.. Well done mate.! Your son's going to have a smile from ear to ear when (and if!! 😆) he gets his car back!! 😆 I need to do the slipper conversion on mine, as the 4000kv motor is tearing it up. Am I correct in thinking that the BLX one has different pitch gears on the spur gear? And what are they? 3s really wakes the car up, doesn't it!! Mines probably as fast, but it still wants to wheelie, maybe due to the huge tyres it's now wearing. I'd recommend ZD Racing big bore shocks, over the stock ones too, and they're only £20 for a set of 4. 😎👍🏻

He will get it back promise!! Yes different pitch the blx uses 0.8mod gears. I actually have a set of those ZD shocks on my granite might have to transfer them over!

In my opinion the Senton 3s BLX is a beast and fast but in order to do the upgrade in power and speed you not only have to install the brushless system system in it but you also must put the center driveshaft bearing on the driveshaft if you want it to use a brushless system in it or else you will end up shredding that driveshaft up. The Granite 3s BLX doesn’t come with a driveshaft bearing because the truck has a short wheelbase therefore it doesn’t vibrate even at high speeds due to the short length of the driveshaft but the Senton 3s BLX does indeed come with a center driveshaft bearing because it’s longer than the Granite the driveshaft does indeed vibrate a lot. I have 3 Senton 3s BLX’s and they all come with center driveshaft bearings. Take a look at any new (or old) Senton 3s BLX’s and you’ll see the bearing in the center that prevents the driveshaft from wobbling and destroying itself. By the way, love the channel.👍👍💯💯💯

I randomly found your original granite videos a couple of days ago with the original goolrc upgrade then the max10 combo. Having only seen your last year's worth of content the OG videos show how much your channel and production has grown 👍 kids have taken over my YT login and the time you would need to spend editing is intimidating. I tip my hat sir. With the goolrc budget version cogging, did you experiment with better esc and budget motor, or better motor and budget esc to see if either were the weak point. Quite a difference in cost between the budget setup and the max10.

@@beyondRC about that, I have done the 3900kv goolrc conversion and it cogs a little. stock 14t 48dp and stock slipper clutch. Would the max10 solve that?

You are right on that arm is better than is it the zd racing DBX 10... Because when he comes to pots it's much more convenient and the price range is really good and it's a reputation brand... Why wasting money in cheap RC Chinese cars... You can buy a nice branded one leg armor or Traxxas... For that amount... 😊❤❤❤ I love this video

yes! The stock controller and receiver are a combined 2 in 1 unit. you will need a separate controller

Can you tell me if the hd 57t spur gear will fit the mega slipper or are you better buying the blx slipper as a whole unit?

probably better off buying the whole unit. You will need the slipper pads and assembly too.

@@beyondRC yeah I think I will go for the whole assembly as I recon all parts of the slipper would be more robust anyway. I'm tempted to just go for the blx but I love a bit of a build, I was originally a tamiya guy and I've calculated I can save about £100 doing this given the electrics I already own. Also changing the body shell. I realise there are other reinforced parts in the blx but I'm only occasionally running my cars what with job, kids and a wife who wonders why I want to play with toys. Thanks for your help and keep up the great work.

@@SnarkyRC A few?! Are you in a rural area or big city territory (urban)? I live in Southern Tier NY region. I've never seen anything like this. A regular small park with a BMX dirt track that is. I just found a racing BMX dirt track, out of curiosity, I'm pretty sure you have to pay access to. 58 miles from my home. I'm jealous.

Why not start with the new FTX zorro brushless and turn the throttle dual rate down ? Then turn up and add 3s when ready

Not the same build quality unfortunately. I have lots of FTX products and comparing the quality of plastics and fitment of components the Arrma stuff always comes out on top just a lot more money in general. FTX are good though and a worthy choice :)

I've been asking every one of you guys where I can find a vid or even written sheet on recommended gearing, engine, esc, whethe I need to get the metal motor mount, diffs, ect ect for just upgrading to 3s. Already have the 3250kv spektra firma 4 pole brushless motor w/ heatsink and fan.

If I put a Rokatan Pinion in a Ramraider would it have a higher top end speed. Rokatan 17T pinion Ramraider 15T. Apologies I'm a noob learning as I go lol

What if I put a max 10 combo on it. 60a esc or 120a esc. Also really confused with all different motor options. 3652 or 3660 and what kv. Ramraider stock has 3652 2500KV. So would I need a 3652 size. Been trying to find out but it blows my mind. Want to hit 50mph like an Arrma and Traxxas lol Example Would a 3660 4600KV with 120a esc be overkill.
