1. Piccolina would be ok but for earlier years. There even was group 5 Mini but it was before they turned it into almost-prototype regulations. 2. There were many regulations that were "siblings" to group 5, including IMSA's GTO in certain years. You could find few Camaros, Mustang, Corvettes and mentioned Chevy Monza on the starting grids. But even in US German manufacturers dominated (I include Scorpio as German car, as road car was designed by European branch of Ford and racecars were made by German Zakspeed) 3. Chevrolet Monza raced in group 5 and IMSA GTO. It was GTX version that had never entered competition. 4. Front propably wouldn't be brought down - they would cut fenders to "drop" the body as much as they could, due to regulations prohibiting certain body modifications. 5. To force this car to behave you'd have to change a lot with rear suspension geometry. But it's real tricky and hard thing to get right. You almost cannot guesswork it and it requires quite a lot of calculations and technical knowledge to nail. Overall - car looks really good and I'm happy that others are also annoyed by misaligned racing class names in games and other media.
Unfortunately, the car is not that good. The rear wing, for example, is completely illegal. The rear wing could not exceed the side of the cabin. There was an attempt by Zakspeed in 1980 to circumvent this by adding parts to the rear fenders that attach up to the rear wing (The Zakspeed "Super Capri") but it was protested by Kremer and declared illegal. EDIT: The car is also around 30 kilogrammes underweight for being a 7,3 litre turbocharged car. The dry weight of the car is around 1335 kilogrammes while the required minimum dry weight for 7,3 litre turbocharged cars in Group 5 was 1365 kilogrammes. Due to the Moonhawk not having a Turbocharger in any of it's stock configurations, adding a turbocharger would also not be permitted by Group 5 regulations. In response to your post, IMSA GTO was NOT a sibling Group 5. IMSA GTO used a completely different ruleset and only looked similar, not to forget that IMSA GTO was a thing before Group 5 GT rules were even a thing. A closer ruleset was IMSA GTX, which you mentioned, which Group 5 cars were permitted to drive in. It should be obvious that the Chevrolet Monza was not a Group 5 car as it raced in IMSA GTO before Group 5 existed. I don't know why you think a Mini raced in Group 5. There was never a Mini build for Group 5 regulations. You may be confusing it for Australian Group 5 touring car regulations of the 1960s, which have ZERO in common with FIA Group 5 GT regulations.
the best way when stretching a trunk together with the body is to slap them both into BNE and make them longer at the same time. That way it will keep all the annoying latch stuff working. Or you could do it manually, but make sure you move all the rear end nodes the same amount
with the CJD mod I was able to go over 500 km/h (300 mph) in the Soliad Wendover! and with the whole interior stripped out, the rev limiter basically gone and very long gear ratios and a different differential ratio, I was able to go over 770 km/h (480 mph)
They didn't just put custom suspension, they basically put custom everything lol. Most group 5 cars were built from ground up except for some exterior design bits, they really had little in common with the cars they were supposed to be based on
Gonna be real, this doesn't bug me much that they released this. Your beam mods are cool, but I personally watch just for automation... The widebody caught my eye in the thumbnail tho 👀 Edit: I should say, its the tutorial of how the mod is done that I enjoy, and how you show the full process
Yea that intro cracked me up XD. These are lowkey BAD in functionality. you absolutely cannot drive competitively with most of his mods and they're usually just thrown together for a single video. This car has some potential though, if his files aren't read only, I'm going to tune on it for myself. Kinda sucks because I'm sure fans would love videos of him polishing a mod off VS clearing the table and making something else. So, it's not shocking what other creators can do comparatively.
That thing looks sick 😆, I would love to see something like this irl, also I don’t think it’s front aerodynamic grip that’s needed, moreso I think it’s rear mechanical grip so maybe something like wider wheels or stickier tires could help, at least in the real world I’ve seen it work
That's so awsome! i Usually make a Group B config for my Automation cars but I did't think you could do it with vanillla cars. I'm going to try what you did to make my own :)
go for it. I'll probably do Group B with a standard car too, so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks if you want to see more stuff on how to do it :)
Is there an add-on that allows you to monitor traction for the tires? I have a feeling that the mass-spring-damper for the entire rear assembly is resonating with the tires skipping.
The Moonhawk has probably the second worst Jbeam of all vanilla cars behind the T-Series, it has many issues and it could be one of them. The oil starvation too.
HUUUFF!!! Tremendous video!!! To think that until recently my friends and I were content with making Mods in the Street Legal Racing Redline. I need to learn how to use Blender!!! I congratulate you enormously on your videos: I have subscribed to your channel, since I watch and learn from everything. Plus, you have similar tastes to mine, heheheh... Tremendous cars from Gorup 5!!! The most brutally beautiful racing cars!!! You have to do more of them... Congratulations!! My congratulations and greetings from the Southern Lands!!
I'm glad more people are getting eyes on my videos :) though recently I've moved away from making my videos so tutorial like, because they were too heavy in technical info. If you want that kind of stuff, you'll have to go back a ways, or look for my tutorial specific video from a few months ago
@@fillman86 Thank you!!! I thank you but, if I know the generalities of the programs to use, I will start looking for tutorial information on the internet. I don't like to take up time, and I know it takes a lot because I also make Mods. You must concentrate on the content of the videos, which is your goal! I tell you: I think that modified Group 5 type cars can have a tail!! And honestly, I hope that's the case so you can continue enjoying it!!! When I was young, my first real car was a Fiat 600, the “Autobello” of the BNG! And everything I learned about mechanics, competition preparation, bodywork and paint and so on, I applied to it. I left it as a kind of “Fiat 600 Group 5”, or a wider and turbo-powered Abarth!!! AHAHA!!! I can't show you photos on RU-vid. I would love to see/do that in BNG!!!! See you, and thanks again!
Damn I love how you make modding look so easy lmao, amazing vid as always Also how do you make the jbeam for the new fenders etc? I know it's quite boring but maaaaybe give us a tutorial on it 😅 just maybe
I've done more in-depth videos in the past. All I do is take the original, and rename it in a few spots, and then it's a whole new part that you can select in game :)
Back when i used to mod GTA i used to create an object that was just bunch of unconnected verities at key locations EG. lights, wheel or prop locations. then export them to an .OBJ and in notepad i had a list of stuff i could copy paste. you could extend this to having septate named objects then they are labelled in the .OBJ file. i hope this makes sense.
My guess as yo why the bolide is labeled 'group 5' Is a mix of things: A: beamng cars are labeled ont here model years, which in the case of most cars is (for some odd reason) half a year or more ahead of the release date. (I.e a 2013-2023 car woudl actually start prediction and oeders in 2012) (Might also be that the bolide race car predates the road versions chronologically) And B: the beamng devs were already to far o to developing the bolide for goup five, and decided that it would be worth a full retune for group C, and just to rolled with it and hope no one noticed there blunder. Ir C: group 5 and group C are very similar in regulation so beam team was just being lazy.
group 5 was a silhouette series, C was a prototype series, so they aren't really that similar at all. Also the bolide was made during the time period, they just probably don't know much about racing history, or they're referring to some obscure race series that no one knows about
@@fillman86 oh its fine lol kinda suprised the ABXY weren't also removable.. kinda dissapointing with how much you paid. also I've gotten over things feeling/looking like crap after using the reverb g2 VR headset honestly, the controller feel like crap, (due to the 4 triggers having 0 weight to them and the plastic just being overall creaky and bendy) are completely non-ergonomic due to the grips, making your hands hurt during long playing sessions... but MAN are they durable. I was lucky to get it on sale for 50% off and only got the headset for $300. anyway excited to see the full review!
Hey ! I was just wondering how did you manage to get that Moonhawk 3D file for Blender...I would like to try myself at modifying them as well but couldn't find any source that explicit how to do it. Great videos btw !!
@@fillman86 It does have a very steep learning curve, and I'm not sure how it would work on your windows workflow. But you could use vscode + vim plugin. Anyway if it catches your interest, here's a video that could introduce you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X6AR2RMB5tE.html Love your beamNG modding content 👌
I've been using CJD since i started playing beamng........ 6 years ago. It's been a long time since thatguy47 released it, and he has been updating it every time the devs do an update to the game.
@@fillman86 no worries, just wanted to share that. I think it first showed up back in 2017. The fact it's even still around and still getting updates to work in newer versions of BeamNG is a miracle and is a must have mod. There are some other really awesome mods that add a lot like the KJLP Core mod along with the other associated mods requiring the KJLP Core Mod, AR16s D-Series Addon mod, and a few others. I would also like to add, that even if someone has added or created a mod similar to an idea you had, go ahead a make it anyways, many of us in the BeamNG community love mods that add more variety and have different twists to similar ideas.
@@fillman86 Oh hold on, I see where the change was made, I didn't notice beforehand and thought you never canged it, it's probably the shaky rear wheels sapping some power and maybe a quarter of the low end grip in the rear
in your spare time, may you update the car so it has custom engines, custom engine sounds, custom j-beam, tires, body frame, custom livery, etc? im just saying because it might be better for people to play with as a mod but if you dont want to update it and just keep it like this as a mod it'd be ok aswell
I'm releasing multiple mods a week for videos, so I can afford to eat XD I don't have time to do such extensive extracurricular work :/ I'm also fine with people taking any mods that I've made, and rework them to make them better, and to re-release it :)
Yo, can you make a video on how to make an aero package for an autobello? I've been monkeying around trying to add aero a wing, spoiler or splitter to the thing with zero success
as always, it's awaiting approval over on the beamng repository - www.beamng.com/resources/authors/fillman86.380331/ it's the weekend now, so it'll probably be available on monday
I hate camera video color correction. There is so little contrast that it constantly seems to me that something is wrong with my eyes or the monitor. I love content, I watch almost everything, but the colorist is constantly annoying
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm using a cinematic camera as a webcam XD I've already added saturation and contrast, and it's hard to tell how far to push it before it looks bad whilst editing :/
@@fillman86 The bus and truck are not standardized because they are scratch made while other cars commonly have lots of parts copied from each other (which leads to less accurate simulation so thankfully since the remasters they are changing that)
