The problem with AI generated art is that it’s based on other art, much without permission. But once the AI is trained the only way to retrain it is to start over and most of the current AI bots’ devs aren’t willing to rework their entire database. So, even if your image is significantly different from anything else, a LOT of artists think this is different from being inspired by their art like a normal human would do and are up in arms about it. They feel threatened by something they think is taking away their livelihood, even though it’s way too early-days to tell that. Most small devs for games probably wouldn’t have hired an artist regardless so in this case I highly doubt anyone’s job was eliminated. 🤷‍♀️ This battle of opinion feels like when I was in college and digital art was still seen as “cheating” because you could undo and edit in ways traditional art couldn’t. And look where we are now.
