I'm gonna give you an advice - DO NOT, under any circumstances go up north. There is dangee awaiting and it's the one you can't stand. Plus on your situation I would try to kill leafcutter colony - they are clearly out of food and starving, as all of the leafes near them are cut down. After you'll be done try to do an underground quest. It's quite easy XP if you have enough food and some majors tanking damage. After that I'll reccomend you trying to do the most peaceful quest you will have. Trust me it will be much worse than slowness giving big velvet worm (fun fact: that slowness effect is based on the real life velvet worm ability to shoot silk from its antheenes (doing same thing that mothra's larvae does but on smaller scale.) which helps them slow prey down while the velvet worm is trying to come close enough to eat it, so yeah, the velvet worms are way too fast in this game. And again in an ant perspective maybe they are quite fast so it doesn't matter.).
