I mean i love this vid and I love the spartan units are pretty much accurate but the bad thing is the Persians are the Hollywood version instead of the historical one. I meant it’s not your fault it’s just an opinion.
The Spartans are also the Hollywood version. why should an spartan dont habe A Breastplate or other gears . And not every Spartan has an Korinthian helm they also use iliryan or attic helmets
The RBM mod really changes the entire flow of battles as well as the weapon viability tier list. Hoplite style units and pikemen are really strong with RBM installed.
Cool video, for any of those interested in history...That's not specifically a Spartan tactic, that's actually very similar to the formation of Marathon...a battle the Spartans refused to participate in due to a holiday they were celebrating....this here is a ancient Greek tactic, made famous by Athens. Some say their victory at Marathon is what led to the Peloponnesian war as Sparta began to fear Athens
Hope you guys enjoy and subscribe to join the Spartan Army! I trained and tested my Spartan Army in 5 different tactics and multiple different formations to find the best tactic to use in a large scale battle. I tested Feigned Retreats, Flanking, Partial-Feigned Retreat, Double Envelopment, and mixed unit tactics in order to find the very best way to defeat a large army on an open field.
So basically 1 sturdy center line with 2 shock troop like flanks to block initial cavs. And during infantry fight, open small windows to let the missile units to do their work. I can't imagine all these can be done back in the day without communication tools, great strategy sir!
You'd be surprised, remember threse armies were massive ofter fighting in terrain where line of sight between groups are broken. They often used runners to convey messages on the battlefield, starts were discussed out completely beforehand and each divisions leader had to know what to do. However it is still a battlefield so anything can happen. I'll link a short of a guy who's videos I absolutely love and he shows how a lot of these happened on the battlefield. Just because humans didn't have technology doesn't mean they were any less intelligent. They also used things like banners to signal objectives and horns and so on. So yes humans absolutely did communicate on the battlefield and quite effectively. Here is a perfect example. ru-vid.com4zbp8wb-uOU?si=bhZfLT-7thtjCJIO
The campaign got corrupted from a Bannerlord update but I will remake the campaign eventually. I have been wanting to make a Spartan campaign so Ivar's story will continue before or after the Spartan story.
Dang that sucks, as a bannerlord player myself I would hate for something like that to happen, but this content always keeps me enjoyed keep it up man, and can’t wait for the next series!!
Have you ever made a video about defensive spots in cities or castles? There are some very OP chokepoints and defendeble buildings in the cities and castles. Especially in batannian lands 😈
One of my first videos on the channel was holding a tower in a siege defense. But yes I have plenty of siege tactics videos, like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qvD7rPs86m4.htmlsi=03Pe_NKR4P-a_Ayp
Spartans were masters of maneuvering around the battlefield in a shield wall. If the enemy sends all of their infantry to flank around you could split your formation and catch the enemy on both flanks. Or you could also just attack their undefended archers and burn their camp if it’s a real battle.
Do you use any cavalry overhaul mods to make cav more effective? I sometimes grow frustrated with cavalry in this game but I don’t want to make the game unbalanced
The Realistic Battle Mod I used in this video actually also makes Cavalry way stronger. That’s why I lost multiple heavily armored Spartans from the charges alone.
The more archers the enemy has the better for this Spartan Tactic. The enemy archers did the smallest amount of damage during this battle. All they had was a shield wall to shoot at or nothing since they risked friendly fire.
If you are using 300 Sparta I’d recommend going back to the version it uses 1.2.8 instead of the current 1.2.9. On the Spartan series I created I had problems with the Spartans being naked without armor on the current version.
Hey, i am french and i love your channel ! I could say i would be nice to have more dynamic vids, there is a lot of blank, or could add music/sound at some moment but i think it's hard to have dynamic vids on this game. But nice channel ! But can you tell me if you have mods ? And give me the names pls ?
Is CA eagle rising working ? It makes my game crash in main menu.. Also how would you defend a siege with 800 defensers vs 2000 attackers without almost no archers at the begining ? The game is tricking me i think 😂
this tactic did not help me. I had 331 soldiers vs 500 enemies and i did that tactic and it did not help, and in your video it was heavy infantry vs light infantry.
Realist Battle Mod combined with the skills of the Spartan Hoplites make them devastating despite being a low tier unit. The realistic hesitation to fight and addition of stamina also helps an army in a static phalanx.
The real Army Persian had many archers on foot and on horses too to flank the units in a open field like that. In add they had combat cariots, etc. In an open field like that is impossible the Spartans win in a real combat. Only have to see how badly the CPU has done at all times to realize that they have lost more due to their own detriment than to the merit of whoever managed the Spartans. Because it only have been needed hold in front and the flanks only a little very timid and then charges with all. Something very basic and obvious. The Spartans in a real combat, with a very close true tactic, they would have been divided into three blocks together. One in front and the other two slightly shifted to the left and right to cover both flanks much better (even with a few refresh hoplit units in the rear to subtituit the other tired units or individual men) or with three blocks each separated from the other maybe with also, arranged in 4-6 rows minimum, not 2-3 at most, which would weaken the defensive formation too much. In addition, they would have gone with light cavalry to try to go behind enemy lines to harass them as much as possible from behind and push the infantry until they collided hand to hand with their hoplite units and thus be massacred with their spears (anvil and hammer tactic typical of those times in the elite Hellenic troops), as soon as they received the order to advance slowly forward, in order to shorten even more distance with their enemies protecting their own bodies from enemy arrows with their shields and bronze armor. While another unit of light cavalry would remain at the rear protecting all the gaps that were left exposed on the flanks and behind. The biggest problem for the Spartan light cavalry would be that the enemy would have too many infantry and cavalry with bows and arrows, making them easy prey. In the end, they would only be very close to the hoplite infantry to protect their flanks and weak points. And, if they started to win, they could leave the formation and harass the enemy units and pursue those that fled to prevent them from retreating, organizing themselves and returning to the fight. For this reason, the hoplites only was very very good in terrain with surrounding hills from which to position themselves and from there have a dominant tactical and strategic advantage with their heavy armors. But on flat desert terrain like that they would have been very easy prey for the Persian units, much lighter and therefore mobile, with much cooler clothing and suitable for that climate and sand, etc. The macedonians won, because they had very large spikes (sarissa), javelin and sling throwers to compensate for the tremendous arsenal of archers that Persia had and many light cavalry too to hostigue the enemy units and protect the companion units flanks. In add, their armor was more light too. And the most important thing, they had very good and competitive oficials and the great Alexander itself that marked the true and real difference on the battlefield. Regards.
Almost any faction works if you follow the steps for this tactic. Empire, Aserai, Battania, Vlandia, and Sturgia could work. Khuzait wouldn’t work since they are focused on cavalry. Battania and Sturgia would be the best for the battanian fians and the Sturgian 2 handed warriors for flanking.
With this tactic you could battle 500 archers and they would still do the same thing. The archers would watch the fight without having anyone to fire at then retreat after you destroy the rest of their army. I will say horse archers would be the biggest problem that would require a new tactic.
The AI will focus on the square formation since it’s closest. If they attack the archers from behind they’ll get stuck in the front-line infantry blob as well and not escape alive.
In history the Spartans would outsource Greek spear throwers that would fight in and around the phalanx and would be trained to retreat into the phalanx to avoid cavalry or any enemy attacks. Sadly you can’t use that tactic in Bannerlord but would work very well for this tactic.
Both sides have the same amount of each tier. The Persian’s just have infantry with weaker equipment on all but the last tier (the immortals). The Spartan Hoplites are tier 2.
The enemy army consists of 1,000 tier 1 - tier 6 units with an even amount on each tier. The Spartan army had tier 2 - tier 6 units with an even amount on each tier as well. The Persian army did seem terrible but that’s because their strength is archers and cavalry and this tactic’s main focus was to completely counter that threat.
