I own these glasses and I have to say, that "incredible" doesn't really describe it properly. I would say, its cool, fun, very bright, and definitely usable. But only for a few hours max. It will leave significant marks on the nose and my eyes start to hurt a little afterwards. Using it for produktivity on a mac gives you the equivalent screen space of roughly a 1080p monitor. The jitter is not too bad but definitvly far from perfect. In practice, I don't use them regularily. I still perfer the great MacBook screen or my 4k 32'' monitor. In conlusion this is a kinda first gen product (but with surprisingly few bugs) for early adopters.

I think there will be a split. Specialized AR products and VR products. You can't VR game on these AR glasses, while the AR experience on the Quest is nowhere near as good as here.
@Poopanator1000
@Poopanator1000 2 месяца назад
@@TinRapper Chips and batteries are getting smaller and more efficient, and the display on these glasses is already (edit: comprable to) a Quest 2 and will only get better. Won't be too long before we have phones powerful enough for full VR that we can connect these glasses to. I think that there might be a split while the tech is in it's infancy, but I don't see that being the case after 10 years or so.

@@TinRapper If the glasses come with an optional blackout screen, as he said, I don't see why VR isn't a possibility. I mean, isn't AR nothing more than VR that allows you to retain awareness of the real world? Blocking off that vision should provide full immersion. Personally, I can't wait to see glasses like these become mainstream and then watch the emergence of AR games like pokemon GO-AR, HTTYD Adventures, or Zelda Journeys that encourage you to walk around and see elements of a fantasy world overlaid over the real world, retaining visibility but bringing to real life the sense of wonder and discovery that encourages gamers to explore. Not to mention the possibility of some seriously immersive first-person shooters with prop guns, fantasy RPGs with prop swords, and so on.

its not comparable - to any vr-headset i have the viture XR pro - a better version of this goggles here in the video and some VR-Headsets.. VR-Headsets have typically about 4 times more space, FOV so you can simulate virtual monitors with the AR-glasses that does not realy work.. and its not smooth at all also its anoying, that the focal distance of the screen is very different to the real world you see through the glasses.. passthrough like the Quest3 offers is here better, because everything is at the same focal distance working up to 9 hours with vr-glasses (quest3, pico4) i can say: no... AR-glasses do not work for that... about 50° FOV is much to less

@sempertard
@sempertard Год назад
@@whatswrongwithnick Ok, so I did buy a pair. They seem well made. I did send them back, but not because of sub-par technology. It was a fitment issue. I couldn't get the glasses close enough to my eyes, causing the bottom and bottom corners of the display to get cut off from my field of vision. My younger son had the same issue. I kept trying to push them closer to my eyes. After a while, I also experienced that sort of ear discomfomt you get from wearing headphones way too long. A better fitting pair of these glasses would fix that as well. I still rated them 5 stars, for the clear 1920 x1080 and for the price point. Other observations: If you are throwing code at 1920x1080, being in a bright room or outside might be a bit of a stretch. Same as it would be with a monitor. For me, darker would be better. The other issue was head movment. So I code 6 feet away from a 75" Samsung monitor running @ 1920 x 1080. The thing with the glasses is, even minor head movements make the virtual display move as well. It's as if my Samsung was able to shift position back and forth quickly with any slight head movement. Not a show stopper, but it was a bit distracting while trying to focus on fine text. I'm sure with more time, I would get used to it. Again, not a fault of the product. The main issue, as I stated, was fitment. Trying to market a "one size fits all" product has to be difficult. I would definately consider them again with a different sized pair. My goal was to be able to VPN/RDP into a development box using my Samsung S20 phone, with either a Verizon data connection, or using Starlink. For all intents and purposes, I was able to do this. I just have to wait for a better fitting pair to come out. So Nick, I would encourage you to try them. Let me know how it goes. I'm very curious to see what you think.

Now we just need a wireless version, feel like it'd be annoying having it plugged in and a cable draped over your shoulder all the time. Then after that we need remote functionality as well, so you could access your laptop or desktop device via the glasses from the other side of the world and use them like they're in front of you, while your computers are safe at home, that would be awesome. One can dream 😄 I feel like these would be pretty awesome on a plane though, would love to use my laptop without everyone in the seats around me being able to see my screen!

What sort of resolution would you say those virtual displays are providing? Size is impressive at first, but resolution so far has been the Achilles heel where I worry I'd need a lot more than 1080p to be able to use these for serious work, as a 4k vr headset translated to maybe a 720p effective virtual monitor

Did you say these are M1 MacBook Pro Compatible? That would be awesome as I'm a musician and use 3 monitors. My MacBook and two others. It would make life so much easier.

Can you use this while continuously charging? So the battery will not get depleted. Just like a laptop would.

Kinda used to high refresh rates now. So I'll just wait for better models.

That framerate looks... unconvincing. How did you find it? Or is it just the recording.

Just the recording. It's a pretty smooth experience. AR Mode over phone can be a little jittery though at times, but also depends on the hardware aka your phone. The xReal Beam might take care of that though when it comes out mid July.

I'm considering something like this with my laptop because it doesn't have OLED. I do a lot of editing. Would you recommend something like this?

The display color is over saturated. Is it how it is or is it just because of your video editing filter?

For those interested I installed this on my wife’s 16 inch MacBook Pro 2023, and not only did the three screens work but I was able to use Divvy to give her eight browser windows split. Breathtaking qualities so far on the virtual display!

Yes, but I usually find that I prefer just using the laptop screen due to the higher resolution. The Nebula app (for showing multiple displays in the glasses) is not smooth at all in my experience, and when I don't use Nebula, the glasses just show one external monitor which is about the same size as my laptop screen. It's nice for keeping my neck straight while working, though.

Hi Andrew! Do you know what frame rate is possible with 3 screens? Also is it only possible to have multiple displays by installing the app? I would like to use these for my work PC at 120Hz but I don't think I will be able to install the software that seems to be needed for multiple display support. Thank you! Sci-fi :)
