Lyrics: I double-checked the lyrics already posted against the Atlas of Canada, corrected some names and fixed some spellings, although it's possible I misidentified a few. I was hiking to the Yukon, I was carrying a heavy load When it started Hank Snowing, and a Stompin' Tomcat crossed the road Then along came a semi, hauling 30 tons of wheat He said I’ll give you a ride, come on up and have a seat Then he’d asked if I’d ever seen snowflakes of such humungous size, I said listen Bud, I’ve seen the whole True North strong and free with this here pair of eyes, cuz - [Chorus] I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve crossed the Prairies bare man, breathed the mountain air I’ve travelled I’ve done my share man, I’ve been everywhere man Yup, Uh huh... Words to this song: I am going to be performing this at an event so had to figure out the words. I apologize to any fellow Canadians who live in the towns I managed to butcher, but it's the best I could do :) I was hiking to the Yukon, I was carrying a heavy load When it started Hank Snowing, and a Stomping Tomcat crossed the road Then along came a semi, hauling 30 tons of wheat He said I’ll give you a ride, come on up and have a seat Then he’d asked if I’d ever seen snowflakes of such humungous size, I said listen Bud, I’ve seen the whole True North strong and free with this here pair of eyes, cuz Chorus I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve been everywhere man, I’ve crossed the Prairies bare man, breathed the mountain air I’ve travelled I’ve done my share man, I’ve been everywhere man. Now I'm reminded that I still have to figure out where the rest of my Moxy Fruvous CDs went, and to get more Great Big Sea...not to mention Mike's solo stuff. I was just working on finding all the different versions...and was surprised to learn Mike Ford had covered it solo. It all started with me looking for all the Hank Snow I could find, then happened to read about the history of this song. Really, though, it started with me being dissatisfied with the quality of the copies of David Allan Coe albums I had...not to mention the quantity; I only had two albums. I highly recommend watching the interview with the song's writer, Geoff Mack. After the interview, he does a parody of the song, "I've Had Everything"....very funny. He also claimed to have written the lyrics to seven of the versions, but I strongly doubt it--I think he was just bullshitting. After all, who was going to accuse him of lying?
+Curtis Stokman the lucky Starr and the Australians came out with it 1959 and Hank Snow came out with a version then Johnny Cash. I thought Hank Snow was Canadian. I'm American btw.
no not even close there are at least 7 of those in nova scotia I dont think you have been out from under your rock too much you must be from a city or some big town I don't even know. Toronto Ottawa Berry? one of those i bet
Of course it's Australian - er - der...(duh in the US). Hank Snow, Hank Schmo ! Written by Geoff Mack and performed by Lucky Starr in the 60's principally in clubs around Sydney and Melbourne. Since that time it's been hijacked all over the world. It's interesting that the Canadian version sounds like it's been copied from the Johnny Cash one, which comes across - to Australian ears - like a 78rpm vinyl played at 33rpm . . .
He said Baie-Comeau at 1:16 take your map and you see that is in Québec (natal hometown) and fuck Ontario lol New-Brunswick and Quebec are both only provinces that deserves respect oh sorrry British-Culumbia too !
