As a professional Tour Manager & graduate of the International Tour Management Institute, I"I have been everywhere". I have truly lead a blessed life filled with fun, plenty of awesome sights and experiences. 2022 here I come! Thank you Ted, Bill & Randy - the original 3 Musketeers, the wizards behind the travel curtain. God bless this incredible country called the United State of America. Patriots peacefully take back our country in 2022. Use common sense in regards to all subjects of concern. Look to the founding fathers and the lord for guidance & direction. Neighbors helping neighbors.
It's not a translation to Australia... the original version is the Aussie one (a hit there for Lucky Starr), then transformed to change the towns to (mostly) North America, becoming a #1 for Hank Snow.

(Credits to Wikipedia for the list of place names. Not sure if this is a 100 % accurate transcription (I'm not a native English speaker, there are some hard-to-understand nuances in the Australian dialect, and they're speaking very fast), but it should be above 95 %, at least)
as a aussie i can say these girl sang it pretty accuratly and sounded true blue, for non australian thats means real/proper way to do it./honest,true blue, and the named towns were pronounced correctly, and are real as shown in the pictures ,well done
But it wasnt meant to be sung in true blue, country twang style. It was famous for being a Lucky Starr hit, regardless of who wrote it, and thats how it should be remembered.
This was originally an Australian song and was adapted for Hank Snow. Johnny Cash covered the Hank Snow version which of course featured primarily North American cities, states etc. plus a couple of Canadian and South American places.
Originally recorded in 1962 by Lucky Starr, it was No.1 throughout Australia, and written by Australian Geoff Mack who passed away two days ago in Queensland aged 94. Hank Snow (a Canadian) had the hit in the USA (No.1 in country charts) and recorded years before Cash's version. But you're probably right as Cash was a major recording artist his rendition is well known. I believe Mack also wrote the words for the US, UK, and NZ versions.
Each verse lists 23 place names, for a total of 92. Only "Yarra Yarra" is not real, it apparently refers to Yarra River, but for some reason or another the lyrics of the original were altered.
Four by the original singer, Hank Snow: Australia, USA (famously covered by Johnny Cash), UK and New Zealand. In addition, a lot of other people have made their own versions. A few searches on RU-vid will lead you to pretty high-quality covers for India, Ireland and Germany, at least. I've also seen some versions, albeit with a rather much lower production quality, for Wales, Canada, UK (alternate) and Runescape, plus a very short The Simpsons version. There's also one for Finland, albeit only in Finnish. I've heard of a Discworld version too, but been unable to find it.
