Currently reading through your comments and messages. I really wanted to just get things out of my chest originally, and genuinely thought I wouldn't care about the response. I thought while people might be supportive, the words wouldn't get to me because of how down I've been feeling this past month. Here I am now crying. I think it takes a lot to be vulnerable like this, especially on RU-vid. And I appreciate that. I think it’s nice to hear that other people are dealing with similar feelings and experiences. Even if it isn’t exact, the similarity is refreshing, knowing you’re not alone, and that your experience is valid. Even so, it’s good to be that aware of your thought processes and mindset. Whatever you end up choosing to do, whether it be to pivot, take a break, move on, start experimenting to try to find that spark again-do it for you. You dont have to worry about how we feel about anything, because in the long run its your mental and physical health that matters much more than us. there are healthier ways of doing what you love, if you love doing youtube that is. enjoy yourself and take a step back. you dont need to power-creep your videos, people watch for you more than the mods themselves, im confident in that. and when it comes to self fulfillment, you can still do many of the things that fulfill you while also taking the scope back. on top of that, healthier ways of getting through those bigger projects would really help you. i noticed you talked about how your most recent big video was taxing on your mental health and caused you to lose sleep. its important to always put yourself before your passion stay safe, do what you love and want to do

This guy gets it. I really think the best way to handle big issues is to cut them to small parts, or in this case make videos of a more during the development process. Just the little stuff you enjoyed or something challenging you finally got past.

Idk if you'll see or even read this but, do whatever you feel is right. If you wanna reset the universe in minecraft or make a farm, go ahead. But it seems to me that you suffer from burnout, which means you need to take a break and then return to the youtube grind. The dedicated ones of us will remain waiting for you to return.

Just take a rest, touch some grass, talk this out with other people that you think or feel that cares for you and supports what you do or can help you with it. - If you decide to quit, i will respect it, you have gone out of your way to make this much stuff on difrent levels. Now thats some dedicatiıon. - If you decide to take a break, than have some fun on your break, go and visit new places, buy the thing that you always wanted to or do. im not exactly sure what would help because i dont exactly know everything about your situation but i find that finding a new hobby can often really help in these situations (preferably a hobby that involves some sort of physical activity or having to go outside for it) i found rental karting and sim racing to be really fun but they are both really deep rabbit holes that i will only recommend to go down if youre ready to put in a lot of effort, if finding a new hobby doesn't help then its up to you.
Even tho we will all miss your great videos,u should do what u think is best for ur mental and physical health and if ur not sure take a long break to relax and think over your youtube career
sometimes being able to say what’s been on your mind for a while can be very helpful in relieving the negative emotions and or thoughts that have been building up, so I hope that in making this video, you at least felt the tiniest bit better, because some of the things you mentioned were similar things I’ve gone through and talking made me feel better and I just guess I want you, someone I’ll never meet in person because I’m a introverted person who hates mass social gatherings (conventions), to feel a little better about yourself and how you’re moving forward.

I'm not even that interested in space and I loved it! So much work had been put in. Rats videos made coding seem like such a fun process that I am now at college considering computer science as a major (currently undecided)

I haven't had the privilege of working directly with you on a full project, but I really enjoyed collaborating with you on one of TerasHD's videos. The feelings you’ve shared definitely hit close to home-trust me, you’re not alone. I’ve had my own moments where I question if I can top my last idea, video, or mod. What’s helped me through those times is having a circle of friends to collaborate with, which keeps the creative energy flowing, even when doubt creeps in. And to be honest, we often feel like we don’t fully fit into the MCYT community either. I think it's because the usual Minecraft Vanilla niche isn't not really our main focus-we’re more about telling good stories than sticking to the usual Minecraft stuff. But that’s also why your work stands to me. You’re an incredibly talented creator, and I genuinely hope you stick around. Without you, we wouldn’t get the kind of mind-blowing content, like that amazing spaceship!

My thoughts exactly. I remember that, for a few years, I got burnt out on writing because I forced myself to work on something I wasn't really proud of. It almost killed my love of writing. After taking a while off, I started writing again, and to this day, I am still going strong.
Burnout is a serious challenge and is the downfall of almost every channel that has a theme taking a break from RU-vid is not something to be ashamed of and can help you look for either better fufilment somewhere else or help you gain that passion back
As everyone in the comments are saying, take a break, if I've got to add anything, how about a more story driven project after the break? The next best thing doesn't have to be big either! or maybe add more variety to your life? Regarding friends, I'd say nothing beats irl friends, a weekly or at least a monthly hangout with one, or maybe try and get to connect more with your online friends, put your projects on hold. as someone struggeling with imposter syndrom and other mental issues i feel you. but you have to realise that no matter what. i watch your channels for you. not for the minecraft content. if you decided to make a full playtrough of factorio i will still tune in. and i am 100% sure i am not the only one. you impacted me so much you have made a positive influence. and you have blown me away with your creativity and drive to create. if anything i am happy to be able to enjoy your great videos.
This is always what people will think in any kind of person but if you can't keep up you can always just play with friends without putting the great future aside and to just calm down.
As someone who suffers from Severe anxiety. It's not true that your friend don't like you and we all love your content just take a break. Burnout is what you're experiencing and that's fine just don't leave we love you.
Take all the time you need to heal. It's okay to feel burnt out, it's okay to feel down, it's important to take a break every so often! Focus on what you like, on what you have passion for, on what you enjoy! Even if it's simple, as small as it is, if it's making YOU happy, the sentiment will reach the right audience. Take your break, because you've been running so fast that walking feels like you're standing still. Sit down and take yourself away from the screen. Hate to say it, but touch grass!!!! As someone who has been burnt out before, I can say, recharge your batteries, but if you decide to be done, have fun with whatever you go to insted and know what you've done for the minecraft/modding community.
You said that you had to do the Next big thing, and I feel that as a Writer, I'll come up with an idea, and then immediately go "Oh, I can do this even better." And expand on the idea, and then I'll be like "Oh, I can do better, that's not good enough." And it's not for anyone, but me, but I look to other writers, and even friends who are storytellers, and I'll go "But I'm not them." Even when the friends have helped me, or those writers inspired me. I get the thing of, people just not having time, and even if you don't mean to, part of you takes it to heart, that you are a bad person for wanting your friend to not be busy, but also feeling like an asshole for wanting to drag your friend from other things. I can't give great advice, because I still struggle with it for moments. What if I'm overbearing, what if they don't like me? And those thoughts are inherently selfish, which isn't bad, but something that's kind of helped me realize Is that, The world doesn't revolve around you, or anyone for that matter, it revolves around the Sun, and the moon revolves around the Earth, and nothing revolves around anyone. And that's okay, because we still can choose to hang around those people, even if they don't revolve around us, and we don't revolve around them. We can Choose.

I think what RAT shared is what most content creators feel. Having the feeling of being less impressive than others, the feeling that what they give is never enough. People tend to underestimate themselves a lot strain themselves to much when it comes to impressing others or basically making things that will be showned to a lot of people. The thing is, sometimes, it's also good to take a break. And I don't necessarily mean taking a break in the litteral way, but more like chilling a bit. Trying different things, maybe stepping away a bit from what you always do, and making something less impressive or crazy for once. I've been following both of your channels for a long time now, and I've noticed that each videos always get crazier and crazier (especially for rat, my went from a pretty cool looking client side mod for waterfalls to making a $50k mod for Mr Beast). But if you take a look at some other content creators, it's not the same. Their content don't get crazier and crazier over time, unlike yours. And I think that's part of why they often seem happier than you do. What I'm trying to say is that trying to make each video better than the last is not very good for your mental health, and can easily lead to a burnout. So take a step back, breath for a bit, go outside, touch some grass, go for a hike or something and just try to not strain yourself too much. Love you Knarfy, and love you RAT

Everything you talk about in this video are things I recognize in myself, my friends, and in other people talking about things like depression, and impostor syndrome, and burnout, and all kinds of "I have a thing that isn't diagnosed, but I don't have the words for it, and that makes me feel disconnected and alone". There are people who feel the same about their own lives, and there are ways to feel better (or at least a bit less bad). Take your time; you don't owe us anything.
6:07 What your describing sounds alot like the highs and lows of adhd hyper fixation, 9:31 and to be honest I think that alot of your fans/audience would love to watch videos about even the smaller things, myself included, or even videos showcasing a part of what your working on one part at a time! But whatever you do decide to do, know that we'll support you and your journey to finding your next step! Another idea I had just, y'know, in case it inspires you, if you did some kind of let's play where you work on slowly add quality of life mods, and you could even have episodic cameos with friends, just creating YOUR perfect Minecraft world/experience (another MC creator Mr.Beardstone has been working on something similar but different) But regardless, you have our support whether that is shifting RU-vid to be more of a hobby, to leaving RU-vid (vacation or indefinitely or something else) Just know that your videos are incredible, and no matter what choose to do, I will come back to watch your videos again, especially your Space Odyssey, because you gave me the chance to see what the sunsets look like on other planets, and That is something I won't soon forget! 🥹 So Thank You Rat 🐁🐀!

I've always loved programing, but at some point a couple of years ago I was doubting if that would be what i wanted to do in life. RU-vid then recomended me the first Snow Mercy video. It was the coolest video i had ever seen. Time and time again, you keep surpassing yourself and, while it's not necesary, just seeing you make all of this crazy things is what keeps making me smile every time i get a discord notification. You have inspired my future career and maybe you stay, maybe you don't, but I'll always remember those videos that inspired me to make mods for games and then programing in general. Hey man, if you need it take a break. Let your brain reset, if you think its possible, and then decide if RU-vid is worth continuing or not. And if it ain't, at least tell us. I'm sure a large portion of your community will follow you into whatever you do next. As for what you do if you continue RU-vid, i can't really speak for the future, but i can speak for the past, and myself. If after that reset you feel like going back to the smaller mods, fucking do it. I love those little fun videos and I'm sure plenty of the newer fanbase will too. Perhaps I'm misreading the situation, a RU-vid video ain't exactly enough to get a full feel for the situation, and obviously your personal life has an effect that you probably shouldn't disclose online. I just know how burnout can be, and sometimes you just gotta let the mind rest. You're mind can solve some absolutely fucked up problems without even trying. You just got give it time to not try.
If you want to quit, dont feel obligated to stay just to satisfy your fans. Just know we've enjoyed the ride while it lasted, and go on to bigger and better things!
Not to overshare under a youtube video but a lot of these things I relate to as someone with bpd, especially when it comes to being jealous in ways im not proud of or not feeling close to friends even when I talk to them every day. Figuring out mentally where I was at helped a lot, and reaching out to friends and such. Dunno if youll see this but maybe something in it could help

Im gonna be honest, a friend kinda started modding cuz of this (of course in a smaller scale with mcreator etc) and cuz of that and seeing these videos i also kinda started using blockbench, mcreator, fabric. It seems like you've also been struggling mentally too, I can hear it a bit in your voice actually, and I hope you start feeling better. I know people with feelings like you have and i kind of understand your problems. I'm not a certified psychologist but i know you should persuade yourself to value what you've done. Don't bother thinking that you are worse or better than someone. There are always people that are more and less skillful than you. Be happy with what you have : people around you and health. Having a burnout myself i just didn't feel like watching this video for two days. You know, it would sound bad but you don't have to know anything. You have a good community, all those millions of people supprot (not a mistake) you. Just do whatever or do nothing, it's up to you before anyone else. Be yourself, no matter who you really are. I've felt this way, many, many times, maybe not about content creation, but just about being included or excluded, feeling like friends don't really care about you, and feeling like a shit friend as a result of those. Every single time, my friends have pulled me out of it, most of it was my friend Scylla, who would always remind me that I have people that genuinely care about me. If you can't count on the people that you have, they're not really friends. From what I've seen (although I haven't seen much, been out of tune for a bit), all of them have been people that you can count on. That includes the ppl commenting on this video, mad respect for everyone leaving support 🙏 Always remember the people you have. Always remember that you are cared about, with or without the RU-vid channel, and no matter what, not unless you do something absolutely repulsive, you will ALWAYS have people you can talk to, and people that will show you EXACTLY what you mean to them. I found you in 2021 and you slowly became one my favorite youtubers. I went on vacation a few years ago and saw that you uploaded a new video being your first CSMP video. When I was on vacation, I was super exited to see it and when I got back home and watched it, I loved it. I loved it so much I made a little modded server with a few friends. That server died after a little while, but I got a new love of making minecraft modpacks. Around a year passes and I joined a modded server because I really liked modding minecraft. From that I met people I talk to nearly every day. Basically, what I am saying is I would not have met my friends or had a passion for modding minecraft if it weren't for you. Thank you for that!
I love your videos man, they are very inspiring and have kinda helped me understand that i can't do some things alone in a sense? Like ContentSMP for me is an example of how creating something is better with others, or how Reach For The Stars is an stellar example of different skillsets making the whole. Taking a extended break is fine if you need as well, we will still be here when you come back. (Sorry if anything has weird grammer, this is my second language.)
Awe, Rat..It's ok to feel like this sometimes. Burnout happens and everyone gets these feelings. Most of us understand that and most people respect the decisions of creators. I honestly like watching you for you because you make me laugh and it's so fun to see what you can create. I hope you continue to do what makes you happy, whether that are smaller things or big projects. We all care about you as a community and if you do eventually quit because it's too much we will support you 100% because you are amazing and you deserve to relax. Hope you remember to take care of yourself and take as much time as you need. Never be afraid to vent to us if you need. If your friends didn’t like you, they won’t hangout with you. Rat, I don’t think you realize this but people like you for who you are. Everytime I watch your videos I see you having fun, messing around with bugs and testing. At the end of videos you show off what you have accomplished to your friends. What ever you do for now on, we support you!!! We are here with you to the end!!!
Don't push yourself too hard a break now and then helps out a lot focus on your life and your mental health and your physical health make sure you're in the right mindset and you're healthy enough to come back it's completely up to you burnout is no joke just stay safe
