The Magnificent Men put their distinctive blue-eyed soulful spin on the great Curtis Mayfield classic, "I've Been Trying". Recorded "live" at The Forum in Harrisburg, PA in October, 1983, The Mag Men sound every bit as hot as they did when they first recorded it "live" onstage at The Uptown Theater in Philadelphia back in 1966. Members include:
Dave Bupp - Lead Vocals
Buddy King - Vocals & Trumpet
Tom Pane - Sax & Vocals
Bob Angelucci - Drums / Leader
Thom "Daddy C" Colson - Bass
Dan O'Hara - Keyboards
Tom DiMartile - Guitar

Thanx upinhere7 for your kind words. It was a great honor for me to play bass behind these "blue-eyed soul brothers" back in 1983. Thanx for tuning in and LOVE your channel. Much Respect, Daddy C

It just don't get much better than this!!! A KILLER version of a fantastic Curtis Mayfield ballad!!! One of my all-time favorites. Vocals are superb and Bob Angelucci's drum work is fantastic. Thanks, Daddy C for posting this for posterity. Bob-B-Que... "Eating no swine before it's time."

The Magnificent Men are the absolute best! Can you imagine if they had recorded for Motown back in the 1960's! They would of been bigger than the Young Rascals and the Righteous Brothers combined!

This group was discoverd by the late and famed DJ legend Geogie Woods and they were the first white group to perform at the Uptown Theater In Philly. They played there several times.

These were some bad boys with some tight harmony!!!! Forget Bobby H. & Bill M. the Mag Men were a notch above them and The Rascals. Gary, Indiana!!

WOW! I think the Mag Men's version of this tune is as good or better than the original by Curtis Mayfiled! Thank you for posting.

upinhere7 - Let us not get crazy now! It is a very good version of the song but nothing matches the original version by Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions! I know the group is white so just restrain yourself okay!
