Wandering around the internet, and I find my old car! I owned this car for 3 years, 2014-17, and absolutely loved it. I was the third owner and spent a fair bit keeping on top of all the things that wear out on an E46. But because it was such a nice, fully documented example, I felt it was worth it. Interestingly, one of the rear arches had a very small (5p) rust spot...BMW repaired this under warranty just before it's 12th birthday! A lovely car.
Ah wow.. how funny is that. It was in fantastic condition when I owned it. Bodywork was still fantastic and drove incredibly well. A credit to you really. Its went to another really good owner who wanted to keep it in good condition and spent a few quid on it. Can't beat a good e46!! Thanks alot for comment
Very weird! I purchased this car from yourself, Andy! I only kept for about a year (which is normal for me) but it was a lovely, well-kept example and apart from a service I only had to replace the mechanical cooling fan with an electric one as the bearing was failing which if it goes causes all sorts of havoc! Oh and fitted the cup holders...
bought mine for a grand three years ago. (still under 75k miles) then nobody wanted it.. now people are asking to buy it .. keep it .. they are going up in value .. and so easy to service..
Could not agree more. Prices are definitely going up for good example models. Especially with low mileage. Thay are a fantastic car. A joy to own 👍🏻 Thanks for comment

@@spottedmotors love it so far. Black sapphire metallic and auto. 4 Rusty arches but mechanically sound. Keep up with the videos you’re naturally engaging on the camera. 👍
@@toysandgameswithesmeeandis4096 what an amazing comment. Thanks so so much. Massive confidence boost!! Glad your enjoying the e46. Dont worry about rusty arches.. have fun owning and driving it. That straight 6 is simply brilliant
That's great, thanks so much for the Comment. Best of Luck with your search. Ci will be a beautiful car.. Future Classic if you keep hold of it. Look at e36 prices now.. 👍🏼
I have a 325i Touring Sport version same colour, have had the automatic box fully serviced, trailing arm bushes, rear shocks and springs replaced and new hand brake carrier plates. Next up will be Vanos seals, sump gasket and probably precautionary cooling system replacement. There is an endless list of things to do to keep them right and with my budget no money left for mods. I think the car is just fine left standard. But wow that straight six and the drive is something else. They shouldnt from now on depreciate either and maybe start to creep up in value.
A touring !! They look so good especially in black too. Sounds like you know what you are doing. But be a worth while "project" . These cars are definitely becoming more popular and prices are definitely rising for good clean examples
I agree. Just pulled up at the local shop to get some groceries the other day, had barely got out of the car and this lad in the car next to me wanted to buy it. It gets comments and looks from old blokes and boy racers alike. The saloon is classy car too and black is the best colour, thats a very nice car. Sadly the boy racers looking drift cars will wreck and thin a lot of them out. When they have finished the few good ones that dont get into their hands and are looked after will be like hens teeth.
Does that have a fuel pump in the tank? I found a 325i with 53,000kms on odometer, fully stock model, 2003 facelift. What more problems should I check??
I'd look at sub frame / diff bushes, listen for a clunky rear end when pulling off. They are very expensive to fix. Front bottom arm bushes, if these are worn you will feel a slight jolt when going over small bumps. Watch out for Dashboard lights. Air bag lights are very common as are low oil lights on start up. Obviously rust as mentioned in video. A regular oil change is a good sign too, should be in service book. Again rocker cover gaskets can leak, giving a slight smell of burnt oil in the car due to it leaking on exhaust manifold. Let me know how you get on . Be great to hear back. Many thanks Spottedmotors
@@spottedmotors dude, I checked out the car and it's in perfect condition except for the clear coat, it's all worn off. Asking price is around 11,250$. 8,45,000 indian currency. It has SMG with paddle shifters too. He said it has m aerodynamic package. what's that? And the bonnet looks like e46 m3 bonnet
@@spottedmotors sorry of inconvenience, I am not a car guy. I service and repair diesel trucks, lorries and busses for part time in my relative's garage. This is my second car and I am not at all familiar with foreign cars. Main reason I want to buy it is, I love e46 m3 gtr from most wanted. I want to paint it and do some minor modifications(not exact replica) to the car.
SMG with paddle shifters are a very nice option (extra) will make it feel more M3 like too. Sounds like a nice car. Possibly a Added M3 Bonnet too? I think an M-sports kit is upgraded bumpers, side skirts, wheels and suspension so again all great extras. Shame on clear coat but as long as no rust is present should be ok.. Sounds like you know what your doing!! All the best dude 👍🏼👍🏼
Great video man, I just bought a 325i e46 myself. I have the burning smell you mentioned in the cabin as well as a weird static / hissing sound coming from the right air vent (right wheel drive like yours), it's from the break fluid area under the hood top left of the bonnet. Any idea what this could be? I'll get it checked out soon just wondering if you know
@@spottedmotors rust is the only bad things with these cars and also oil leaks from the rocker cover gasket usualy at the back left hand side and oil pan gaskets which are a pain as you have to drop the whole front sub frame to change it. They say about the oil filter housing gaskets but they tend to last the cars life.
Yes the rocker cover gasket had been changed on this one. So must of had a oil leak at some point. Totally agree with the rust problems. Do see some poor condition ones out there
