A flatmate of mine was an extra on a film set with her and she ran out of cigarettes and saw David smoking and very sweetly asked him if he had one spare. She said ‘ I know it’s frightfully cheeky but I’m gaaaahhhsping’ in her plummy posh accent. She was dismayed it was her last day on set and couldn’t return the favour the next day and thanked him for being her ‘knight in shining armour’. The next day David came on set and the assistant director handed him a small parcel which was a gift wrapped packet of cigarettes with a card inside saying ‘ To my knight in shining armour, love Joanna’ Everybody but EVERYBODY who ever has contact with her adores her, most ‘stars’ don’t even see extras let alone interact with them but she has no airs, no superiority and no attitude. Classy to her bootstraps!
I am glad you mentioned Joanna's travelling shows 😎 My wife and I love her shows. She is able to connect with people on a personal level. Watching your awesome interview you can see how genuine Joanna is. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺💙🤍❤️🇦🇺
Amazingly beautiful young lady who has grown up so gracefully and still an absolute delight to look at and listen to,in interviews like this one...Thank you for yet another terrific and most enjoyable upload about interesting people, who may have been around for ever, but always have interesting things to say, like Joanna Lovely, sorry...Lumley!...
Loved this interview with Skavlan and Joanna Lumley. What I like about Skavlan is that he lets his guests talk- just like Parkinson did. As for Joanna Lumley, it was such a pleasure to listen to her. She is so interesting, humourous and her positive outlook on life is contagious....in the best way!
Such a valuable tonic - especially in these uncertain and unsettling times - to hear good people enjoying a genuine and enlightening conversation. Thank you so much, Frederick.
What a great person Joanna is. Really valuable advice about the smiling at people trick to defuse depression bombs too. Please keep on shining, Joanna!👍😀♥️
Just discovered Skavlan and become an instant fan. I visit Norway several times a year and he represents the kind of reserved intelligence of so many of my friends there. Thank you for these uploads.
Very true wise words on successful long term relationship by All three interviewed! I mistakenly stuck it out for 16yrs with a lack of respect, thinking if given the opportunity and time that person would adjust! I've wasted my prime years of life!
This is fantastic. I love how you ask your guests all these serious questions and then allows them time and space to think about the answers and share their own life experiences. Can I ask, regarding the process of preparing for a guest, how do you do that? Do all questions come from you directly or does your team work hard to research the guests and present you their ideas for questions? Good job for your show!
Greetings, Dean! We're so glad you enjoy our interviews, thank you for the feedback! We have a team of researchers who work very hard to research every single guest we have on 😊
I love your show, Skavlan :) Hi from France, where I am watching your interviews. Thank you for this interview with the charming Joanna. She is quite marvellous!
Your interviews are always such a treat. Especially this one! It's electrifying to see your smile, like Ms.Lumley said. I smiled back at my phone LOL. I'm quite familiar with the black dog, and your show is a bright star in my sky ♡♡♡♡
Indeed this was a very special interview also because of the added input from the other guests. Skavlan remains the best show of its kind on this planet. Especially as it is in multiple languages and offers the possibility for sub titles. Brilliant. So grateful. Joanna made a comment regarding low moments or down days which I have practised since many years, going out and smiling at people. My habit is to never carry my problems or woes out of the flat. If I cannot do that I stay home. In shops where I was known I was sometimes asked how is it I am always so happy? My response always was that I am not always happy but when I smile it makes me feel better and sometimes I receive a smile back which really makes the day brighter. On that note this is no longer possible thanks to these evil measures perpetrated on much of the world, wearing masks. There are no smiles, no friendliness and slowly the desire to keep living makes no sense. 😔

What a wonderful guests and yes i love what they say regarding long-lasting relationships I work with couples as a coach and core values, similar goals are crucial and focus on good things, not the negative ones for sure ;-)
I think Joanna Lumley is one of the most important women of our times. Wish she was prime minister or president!!! My dream would be to spend an evening at dinner with her!
I'm a Performing Artist from Lebanon. I would like to accompany Joanna on her travel trips especially through Africa & the Middle East...if only to perform odd jobs. I could entertain her crew at the end of every day. Cheers!
Joanna Lumley's role as a mysterious and serious Sapphire in 'Sapphire and Steel' is one of the best role in television history, NOT her stupid role in Ab Fab!
