"I've Never Met a Nice South African" is a satirical song originating in a sketch on the British television series Spitting Image (series 2, episode 5). It was written by John Lloyd and Peter Brewis and was sung by Andy Roberts.
“We treat the blacks in South Africa very well indeed!” “But Mister Botha, I haven’t seen a single black person since I entered this mansion.” “You haven’t? My god man, what do you think you wiped your feet on before you came in!?”
Censoring a historical piece of media highlighting the crimes of the past for some companies profit margins really shows the pivot we have gone down... revolting
@@pipipupu5104not really. They (unsuccessfully) blockaded the main Rhodesian (technically in another country) trade port and enforced an oil embargo. They also never recognised Rhodesia, because when they wanted independence the UK wanted them to have universal suffrage but the Rhodesians wanted whites-only suffrage
I worked last month with an international crew of contractors on a building site... Aussies, Americans, Germans, English, Irish, Thai, Chinese, Kiwis and one South African foreman on site and most of the work crew wanted to kill him by the end of the month. The black and mixed South Africans were fine. The English guy kept singing this song lol.
They were farming by themselves until the English found gold and diamonds on their lands, and started two wars over it and invented the concentration camp. English complain and criticize the Germans a lot, but the Germans were merely copying Kitchener's starvation detention centers.
I would say, as a combination of German, French, Dutch and a bit of Scottish cultures, Afrikaans culture is quite unique and interesting in its own right. That, and being lost in the Savannah really has dramatically impacted the mentality of the people
one time a south african kid moved to our class and one of the kids was jokingly claiming that there is no water in africa. they would have actual arguments about this, i recall the non-water-believer asking me "Yo is there water in africa?" and i jokingly said "Nah man, I don't think so" the south african did not really like this. I can't remember if her being white african ever came up as a joke or not but I wouldn't be surprised, that's middle school.
@@rocketman4123 The murder rate in South Africa was higher during Apartheid than it is now, it peaked in 1995. It's almost as if corrupt idiots come in all colours.
“This song is too harsh!!!” It’s literally just naming uncommon/comical things and then saying “I’ve done all this but I’ve never met a nice South African”, grow a pair
As an Englishman, I can confirm that this was a song on the old version of "Spitting Image". The show that makes the Tories look like fools used to do the exact same to Botha...
I really enjoy what this video has done for our reputation. Now any time a single South African goes abroad and is rude to someone people come to the conclusion of "yep, the song was correct, not a nice one out there". I think most tourists who visit are surprised that most of us are quite nice, even the white ones
We got the satire when we watched this when it aired on spitting image. Shame on RU-vid for censoring this comedy gold. And I did meet a nice South African once, her name was Helen and she was from Pretoria.
It fits equally so into modern Soth Africa I'd say. That said though idk if ur nostalgising over the white regime, but u shouldnt coz at least black people are allowed a say in which corrupt bastard rules them now.
@@Ajkal925 mfs will be like "at least during apartheid there wasn't so much poverty" yes there was. Just just didn't see any of it because the suffering of black africans was kept away from cities and pushed into the Bantustans
@@MONSTERKILL2013It's fun to see how you racists always value public works over equality. You'll see this over and over in videos showing Nazi Germany, "It's so clean!"
@@hectic7626their was whole trend on twitter of white australians complaining about how racist whites south africans are, even other white expats cant stand them😂
Went to South Africa for holiday this year. All the white South Africans stared at me in disgust. Like damn it’s not my fault it’s so hot outside your blonde eyebrows go invisible💀
this song was made back in the time, nowadays most of them fled away back to Europe or the rogue apartheid state of Israhell where they get to practise it without any consequences
@@moustachio05as a white American, I can’t directly confirm, but I wouldn’t be surprised. The amount of relative comfort and stability we have had for decades creates a pack of careless edgelords among us, something our media has often reinforced. I’ve never personally known an apartheid apologist, but they probably number in the millions over here. I _have_ however met a nice white South African, but he’d been long out of that country by then.
@@SusScrofaVulgaris nee vok die englse se probleem is hulle "empathy" glo my. Die eenigste tyd wat daai eiland iets werd was, was in 1690 toe Willem Hendrik hulle gekoloniseer het.
@@yourfriendlyneighbourhoods8202 yeah, I referred to the old South Africa. I wish it was better, apartheid never happened. Sometimes I look at the pictures and think it could have been almost a paradise on earth. Maybe an exaggeration, but that’s how I feel
@@AndrewduToit-wl3tn well, it did and does, and that’s because of apartheid If not for it, perhaps today the White areas wouldn’t be as great as they are, but the overall quality of life could have been better and the county would have a bright future
"Welcome toSouth Africa. Pull up a back man andsit down." Bill Oddiei asketch many years ago. He also talked about integration and integrating suspects. I can't remember tne rest if it.
@@donovanlocust1106 no it’s just genocidal by their own admission. Monstrous state, clinging to righteousness and cloaking themselves in religion to try and disguise their evil. Judaism deserves better
The original had a whole proper music video with puppet characters and all idk why but you can only find the audio of it on RU-vid although the full things up on dailymotion
@Oinker33 I think there's was a yeti puppet those can't talk so he was moaning and there also a puppet of breytan breytanbach who was moaning cos he woke up hungover in a jail cell there's a few more but I can't remember you're best off watch the og music vid
