JADE CHIPPS, 31, has never met her husband outside of prison - but she has got a life-size cutout of him to keep her company at home. Jade first got the idea to write to an inmate after watching an interview with a woman who met her husband through a prison pen-pal website. With nothing to lose, Jade went to a prison pen-pal website for inmates based close by to her home, where she came across her now husband, Chris. The couple now speak as much as three times a day on the phone and before the pandemic, Jade would see Chris once a month. However, Jade would advise others from pursuing an inmate relationship, as she admits it can be stressful. Once Chris is released, the couple plan to live in the house Chris bought Jade and start a family together.

@dingo1666
@dingo1666 2 года назад
She went there because she needs attention. Who goes on such a website, to meet a criminal to marry? Can't they get a guy in real life or are they too boring or what? Reality is that they don't know each other at all, if they ever live together, he [or she] could turn out to be violent, gaga or straight unable to deal with banal things such as work, debt, arguments. I believe these women want a dream rather than a real soulmate. Especially those where the man doesn't ever come out. Could work with these, but the chances are slim to none.

I worked in a male correctional institute, listen ladies: They have ALL day to write you love letters with all the romantic stuff that they KNOW you want to hear. Often they pay OTHER prisoners to write letters for them. It's a job in exchange for commissary. They will tell you they want you like no other man has EVER wanted you, because they are bored, it makes time pass and you put money on their books. They will bombard you with romance letters because they HAVE the time. They might not have a college degree but they DO have one in street smarts and KNOW how to con you into love (again by telling you everything YOU want to hear). Once they get out, the romance talk is over, your years have been waisted and your money is gone. Don't do this to yourself, you deserve better.

Not to mention living with someone completely changes the dynamic of the relationship too. I wish them all the happiness in the world... but they're kind of missing a part of the matrimony process (sharing each other's physical living space for prolonged periods). I’ll never understand why women are attracted to men who’ve been to prison. I was in rehab with a girl.. who met a guy there and literally said to me “I didn’t think he was attractive until he told me he did 7 years! Now I think he’s SO HOT!” I’m just like “… good to know your priorities are in the right place”

@LauraBidingCitizen
@LauraBidingCitizen 2 года назад
I don’t think she’s attracted to him because he’s been inside (I’ve never heard of that before!) - I think it’s because when you’re long distance, you do get to know each other far more intimately than if you were to meet someone in your area or online who you could meet up with the following week in the spur of the moment. You’re forced to get to know one another & everything about one another, & I also think it’s the thought of ‘changing’ someone (or rather, being witness to that change) that others find attractive.
@misspoliticallyincorrect2081
@misspoliticallyincorrect2081 2 года назад
Some of these women are attracted to broken people and are basically addicted to fixing others. It might be a rush to some as well. But I think the ones who marry these men that're doing life..its all about control. Knowing he's in prison, cannot cheat and absolutely needs them is very appealing to some women.

I'm not going to judge her but I know from experience that inmates will tell you whatever you want to hear and they have nothing but time to know the most perfect things to say and they listen so intently,to prey on your vulnerabilities..They have you believing the behavior they exhibit during visits and over the phone are a true reflection of who they are,when in reality,they are just following the rules and playing a role..I can guarantee that the man who comes home to her will reveal his true self real quick and she'll have realized too late..How do I know all this, because I watched my dad and his prison buddies,my uncles,cousins and countless others..Half the time the stuff they wrote was recited to them by another inmate.. It's like a soap opera for the other guys.. I've watched countless women waste so much time,money and gas, believing in a fairytale.. There's a possibility he's different but I doubt it..😔

My husband and I met online in 2006! When I was 19 and he was 23. We met IRL in 2007 after talking daily for a year. We did long distance for 6 months and then he moved to my town, and got married in 2009. It's been 12 years now and we are so happy. Back in 2006 meeting online was still seen as weird, and my parents were really concerned. It worked out for us because during the year before we met, where we chatted online daily, I didn't once consider him a potential boyfriend. He was just a friend I spoke to. He wasn't on my radar for a relationship because he was at the other end of the country. It just wasn't an option. But we got on so well, I even remember telling him that his wife would be a lucky woman. It got to the point where we couldn't deny it anymore, we would have to meet IRL and either get together or end the relationship. It ended up working out for us. It could have gone wrong in so many ways. I was so young and naive. Would I let my daughter do the same? I don't know.

Alarm bells went off, when she told her friends, the first thing he'll want to do, when he gets out. Is to impregnate her. Yikes!!! Maybe someone should recommend that they spend some quality time together 1st, before bringing a baby Into this, as she doesn't know this man and her doesn't know her and prison talk is like pillow talk. A fantasy!

Weird to carry around a cardboard cutout of your incarcerated husband. I wanna see them on a season of Love After Lockup.
