A positive review of a 40K game by a non 40K fan is probably the best praise I could hope for this game. Happily moving from tentative interest to moderately excited.
I'm also not really a 40k fan, but I can confirm that the game is great. Played for a good 10 hours. Never gets stale as you keep unlocking stuff and new ways to finish off Tyranids. Did not test multiplayer tho, but I'm very sure it will be a blast. Also, they did not lie when they said that there are going to be hundreds of enemies on screen at a time (not causing any performance problems...at least on a high end rig).
Oh boy! The Thousand Sons! The reason they 'blow up into confetti' is because the Rubric marines were turned to dust by a spell. They are pretty much animated armor at this point.
Consider also the shadow of the warp, a giant field that drowns out the warp preventing spells and summoning that all Tyranid fleets produce. It can't be that strong here if the thousand sons are showing up which means all the Tyranids we're seeing here is a small force most likely. It's very 40k lol It could also mean we might get access to a space marine Librarian/Sorcerer later, maybe.
@@RED_Theory038 Yeah definitely not a hive fleet - that would be over before it began. Likely a splinter fleet of Behemoth considering that it's Ultramarines - something that survived the Battle of Macragge .
The chaos marine exploded in confetti because he was a member of The Thousands Sons chapter, which have been cursed by Chaos and now they are just magical dust inhabiting the suits of power armor.

Thanks for the in-universe details! And YES - absolutely 'spore mines' of some variety. One enemy type was throwing them out like hotcakes. They caused a stacking debuff that if full would disorient you for ~5 seconds.
I didn’t see any Von Ryan’s Leapers. Are you sure they weren’t just warriors or raveners? Warriors have a lot of weapon variations. I don’t think anything from the new Nids model range got into this game, there just wasn’t enough time to develop. Hive Tyrants are confirmed, they’re a boss enemy of sorts. So far there’s hormagaunts, warriors, raveners, lictors, zoanthropes, Carnifex, Hive Tyrant. Maybe a couple others. Edit: Termagants too, wasn’t sure if they’d be in it because hordes of tiny guns would be annoying as hell, but I saw a couple. Glad to see them.
Dark Tide was not good... your bullets ran out so fast that you pretty much were playing a melee simulator with very very mediocre melee combat... I played 10 hours on game pass and just uninstalled
Small, but important detail I think you overlooked or forgot to mention - in addition to recovering armor, this games also has a bloodborne-like health system. When you take health damage, you have a small window of time to regain that health by attacking.
It sounds like they've made major quality of life improvements for the sequel. A big problem I had with the first game was that you were relatively squishy but could execute enemies to get most of your health back. But... executions left you vulnerable and you could easily die during the animation. It felt terrible. Great to see that HP is now based on consumables, and executes give back armor while you're also invincible. This will be a game-changer to the pace and feel of combat.
Yea. My main concern is definitely the amount of content. Expected a bit more co op missions... Luckily it sounds like they at least plan to support the game and keep releasing more, but it is fairly light to start with. Love what is there though from the looks of it. Just needs more content. I kinda was hoping, and maybe they did?, that the co-op levels were procedural in some way so you pick the type of location you want to fight in and then it generates a levels around that landscape type. Maybe even horde survival/challenge modes too would be neat. We just need more!!!
Level structure stays identical from run to run. The only thing that get's mixed up is enemy placement, composition, and numbers. Also pickups (like ammo crates), but the layout and boundaries of the playspace, stays the same.

How else would you play it the minute it releases? Would it make a difference if I bought it then rather than a few days before? I get 2 hours to refund it on steam either way so. It. Doesn't. Detail is absolutely spot on in this game. You can tell the devs meant it when they said they love 40k, they genuinely know the world as fans, and not as devs.
Yea they show up in packs and sit back and tickle your armor away, only takes a shot or two but your gotta remember to kill em before you’re in trouble
As it stands, I have so much respect for the developers on this one! I know people were upset about not having an open beta. But honestly that was probably the smartest thing they did! By taking the time to work on bugs and errors in order to release a polished game, in a time where almost every triple A game is a buggy mess just sets this game aside from every recent release. If they did an open beta and it had flaws, many people would write the game off instantly. It's looking like the developers are pouring time and love to make this a game that both themselves, and fans will just love to have fun in. My hopes are high, hopefully the release doesn't disappoint!
@rahotep789 from what I saw last night on another video it looked that way. Atleast for loyalist chapters. However I'll be honest and admit I stopped watching that part of the video when I saw the raven guard
Looks fantastic, I played the first game and I have been into Warhammer 40K since the 1990's, so 30+ years, probably longer than most people that will play it have been alive, lol.
They haven't said anything about a live service model, it'll probably be more like World War Z where it gets a few free content updates and then a couple of expansions.

This looks like the perfect replacement for helldivers 2, a game I put almost 400 hours into, but dumped it due to lack of content, boredom, and stupid devtards nerfing guns into the ground. This looks amazing, and will be a welcomed game to my collection for sure. 👍

Sounds like this game has taken a lot of combat cues from Darktide. Which is good cause the combat in Darktide is probably the best horde shooter combat system ever.
This game looks absolutely amazing. The only problem I see here is it's just not enough. I feel like most people will beat everything this game has to offer within a week or sooner. Then we all are stuck waiting a month or longer to play more content after spending 60 to 100 bucks. I've played enough video games to know this is probably going to be the case

Hormigaunts, Termigaunts (Small with gun or small with melee) Tyranid Warriors(The medium sized guys with either snipers/ melee, or anything) THe Zoanthropes( The floaty big head guys), Carnifex (hulking thick bois that are like tanks) The BIG one in the boss fight on the story mission is a Swarm Lord( a variation of a Hive Tyrant)
i have chosen to cancel my preorder after this video. - The PVP aspect sounds like it could end up being the only endgame, and that was a huge turn off to me. - Maps look small and linear, not as in Helldivers 2, where we have a planet and its more random. - Campaign sounded small ish (under 10hours) - PVE looks alot like Vermintide 2, where maps are linear and after a few runs, its more of the same. All in all sadly not what i hoped for, i had hoped for deep story, with less rushed gameplay. bigger world with more acts with different planets to explore, and defeat enemies to open up new areas and clear out the enemy forces from cities.
Imo linear > open world most of the time for action heavy games. Bayonetta, dmc, ninja gaiden, all the best action series have relied on tight, well-crafted linear maps

You have no idea what the quality will be, but experience taught you that about 95% of the time it's a hot turd on a plate. The restaurant tells everyone how popular their turd plate special is and everyone LOVES it. Now they exclusively make turd plate specials with more clever marketing. All because millions keep paying BEFORE they even see the actual product. but hey, you got that limited edition golden fork though.
Fledgeling 40k nerd here, from what I know there is 18 space marine Legions (20 but we don't talk about the extra two), 9 loyalist and 9 traitor. Each legion is made up of different chapters, so that part about there being dlc cosmetics could either be extra cosmetics on top of the already available cosmetics, ooorrr it could be cosmetics specific to named space marine chapters. If this is the case, it'll be really funny if we see a Lamenters cosmetic set.
10-12 hrs? I would rather have 15-20 hrs. 1/3 more content. I'm positive DLC will add to this length, albeit for another 40 dollar investment. It's a sad manipulation of the current game industry.
6:15 ik this aint really important, but imma just slap the names of the bugs hes talking abt here as best i can just in case anyone is interested hormagaunts are the ones that swarm you to no end, Tyranid warriors are the ones with the dual swords tho they can ofen times be seen with some heavy ranged firepower as well, the "floating squid things" are either venomthropes or zoanthropes (they do look pretty similar tbh) and the bad guy space marines that our good man mentions are thoes of the Thousand sons space marine legion that betrayed the emperor after being banned from doing the one thing they are really good at, and having another space marine legion tricked into coming to murder them to the last and burn down their home world 10 thousand years before the time this game is set in. And finally for the enemies he mentioned that i can talk abt, the carnifex. a hulking mass of an apex predator able to stomp and slash its way through near anything in its way Hope this was interesting / informative for some one just setting out on their journey through the 40k universe!

They crushed the combat. It looks incredible. Seeing as its the main highlight of the game I am glad to see this. Not 40K fan, but I've always thought it looked cool from afar. I am looking forward to its release.

i didn't expect the same engine(Swarm Engine) being able to offers this much verticality and complex gameplay varieties on a semi-openworld(?) level design, and notably compare to their pervious game WWZ, the devs exceeds and set the bar high. at this point excels at their propriety engine.
I wonder if the game will be able to run decently or about the same as WWZ or if it'll be way more demanding. My PC runs WWZ with absolute ease but I'm afraid SM2 could be tough.
I hope this game is woke, so we, real players, laugh of people like you. People that, instead of having fun with the gameplay, care about a game being or not woke 😂
Everything said about the difficulty tiers speak to grinding vs raw skill. Looks like this game is meant to be grinded for upgrades so the next difficulty tiers are possible (like Diablo Nightmare Dungeons, etc). This isn't a problem, just realize it looks like this is a game meant to be grinded over and over vs one with a juicy campaign
