I knew that Marc started Islander because he wanted an SKX replacement. That was a good explanation of the brand's development. This Englishman knew JFK airport used to be called Idlewild because I've always admired him and wondered what If........ Before the Republicans shoot me down I admire President Reagan too. When Marc was talking about how quickly he can get a new idea to the watch market (around the 7:00 mark), it reminds me of the HMBT-1 watch that was a concept derived by viewer feedback. When the final decisions were made, I prepaid for one and got it only a couple months later. It’s awesome.

This is the big difference between Marc and all the other watch RU-vidrs out there making their own watches. Marc is making watches that people want, others are making watches that they want and that is a big difference! That's why Marc has been hugely successful and most others have failed.

Thank you Seiko for discontinuing the skx because we have Marc killing it on design and value. Sapphire glass and regulated movement for about $300. Much much better than a Seiko which I stopped buying and now going on my Islander journey. Got the blue Melville and its awesome! My watch after two days so far running +0. This is better than my Grand Seiko which used to run +1 to 2 sec a day and after my balance became unaligned and serviced under warranty its running 10 to 13 sec a day for a watch costing $7,000. The service center is horrible and kept telling me their standard is +8 to -1 and I was like its not even meeting your own spec so why you keep telling me this. The beverly hills boutique said its normal for a mechanical watch and I call BS because I have a cheapo $270 seiko with a 4r36 movement and it runs + 6 to 9 and I went snorkeling with it and mountain biking with it. Bye bye seiko hello Islander! I am also no longer in Grand Seiko after this horrible experience!

I like Marc’s channel and a run down of his islander watches has been really good. I own most of them as seikos but a few I think I’ll pick up to have a good look at in person 👍

Chris tell Marc he needs to start selling LIW hoodies!!! He won't listen to me. Thank God Seiko dumped the SKX.....and gave birth to the ISLs. Best thing ever happened to the micro brand space. Great interview video sir.
