I used to let my wife sleep in on Sundays. I would take both boys to McDonalds for their pancake breakfasts. We had a lot of fun ordering and eating there. So much so that fifty years later they still talk about it as one of the family traditions they liked. Cannot do that anymore. I haven’t found an open McDonalds since they closed for the plandemic.

The problem is the amount of loiterers inside some McD seating areas. They wait for a likely victim to show up, then harass them and run off with their loot.

They are trying to hide the kitchen so that when they put in the robot arms to flip burgers and make fries (already available) customers won’t notice. When they get enough people to use the app, they will switch to a software voice box (like Alexa, Siri). If the voice box doesn’t understand you, it will tell you to use the app. There’s a new McDonald’s near me (Northern CA) which is similar to this, but has a few tables.

I can't fathom why someone would treat another person as anything less than anyone else. It should be common sense. That said, I believe a prerequisite to having any job should be a customer service role. Having done that myself I am so, so courteous and respectful to those people now.

I was thinking the same thing.The employees seemed much happier only having to deal with other co-workers and not the public. The way people treat service workers anymore, I don't blame them at all for switching to this model. Until people treat each other with the respect they deserve, more and more things will become automated. And each generation seems to have less respect than the last.

This is what I was thinking. When I saw that conveyor belt thing for the drive-thru I thought, that thing is going to get jammed up and probably fling a mix of soft drinks and sauces and greasy food right into your car and on you. And then you would have to go inside to resolve the issue which is exactly what you don't want to do when you've decided to use the drive-thru. Also, when he was using the touch screen inside all I could think was how disgustingly dirty that thing would be. They should provide some hand sanitizer. Imagine the people who will touch that thing who never wash their hands. Gross. I barely go to McD's anymore because it's so expensive and this will be a no for me.

People not eating in the restaurant means less waste they have to deal with and pay for to dispose of, the trash gets taken home with the customers. In California @ $20 an hour for the cashier we have to find a way to cut costs and this makes sense. Less $20 an hour workers means prices can be kept from the sharp increase.
@trickhayproductions
@trickhayproductions 4 месяца назад
if they make a business pay $20 per hour then the employee needs to do more work for that money. More pay more work. So because of that just cut the employees in half, then they will be doing twice the amount of work. It makes it more efficient for the company and makes the cost stay the same for the owner. Also another thing to do is cut the menu down to the best selling 10-12 items. I did this at my restaurant chain and my profit went 6 times higher. Yes my sales went down a little but my profit went up 6 times. So in the end all that matters is the profit amount.

I can see a concept like this working where there is a high volume of traffic. The more streamlined the operation is, the more people they're able to serve. I also think with the lobby being rid of inside seating and person to person order taking in the lobby, it's easier on the manager running the store because they don't have to worry about looking after the lobby and focus more on the kitchen and drive thru areas of the store. When it comes to fast food, most of the restaurant's business comes from the drive thru and I believe that's where McDonald's has decided to focus its business.

Not to stand behind a line of people waiting to plce an order while frantic employees get shi*on by the public. The drive thru options at this new automated store will likely ensure that the lobby doesn't get congested with people. Also, people are slobs. No seating means they can't really destroy a dining room anymore. If the food is good and the service prompt I don't care how it's delivered up. I don't need social interaction at fast food places. I expect eventually we will go that far. Of course the 'robot' needs someone to fill the hoppers, clean and fix it as needed. I expect right now it almost works, and most of the fast food places are looking at something like it. But I'm not looking forward to it, other than the novelty of it. I absolutely love this. Everything from increased speed and accuracy to the ability to avoid people, just screams the very essence of 'fast food'. If it were any faster, it would come out of your phone. The vast majority of orders I have ever had have been incorrect. This will resolve the issue. Eventually, all of it will be modular and machines will be able to service the machines. It will just be a box that hands out food on a belt. No people means the cost should drop significantly over time as efficiency increases too. While it probably won't reduce prices, it may help to combat inflation.
