After over two years since my last visit, I decided to return to Wat Pa Lao Woodland in Woodland, WA (2.5) south of Seattle. This is a great temple and I miss Lao New Year celebrations that this temple would host each year. This temple has been growing each year and you see feel the momentum of their growth before the you know what hit. Watch to the end to find out if Lao New Year 2022 will be held at this temple.
Truth is, I visited Wat Pa Lao Woodland and a lot happened. I originally wanted to make this a short and faster paced video as I know people's attentions spans can be short. Ultimately I decided on a longer video because there's so much to cover. Besides, I wanted to include a virtual "tuk baht" (almsgiving) in this video. :)
Besides the traditional Buddhist stuff that occurred on my visit, it was just nice to see friends and family. I enjoyed mingling with the vendors and it turned out that one of them is actually my aunt from my mother's side of the family. I had no idea... I discovered a family member during this visit.
One thing that I also decided to do during this visit to Wat Pa Lao Woodland to be intentional about speaking Lao. My Lao language skills are getting rusty and the temple is always a good place to practice.
The food was amazing at this temple and the Buddha statue was beautiful. This even was centered on the bringing out of the Buddha statue, which the temple received two years ago and was stored inside the temple. During this event, the Buddha statue was brought from the outside where it was permanently installed to greet visitors. I don't know everything about temples Buddha statues and it's also one more reason why I like to visit temples (because I want to learn the customs and traditions).
Anyway, sorry for the long description and I hope you enjoy this video. :)

I went there too! I was there the day before the tak bat but I went home early because it was too cold. So sad how I missed all of the stuff.

We always have a relative we don’t know about. Buddhist is so different from different parts of the world. My wife did her graduate work in Buddhism. At a temple in southern China, the monks would meditate to dead bodies to understand that flesh is flesh and our soul is who we are. Do you meditate? I stopped years ago. Shame, now my mind is full of distractions
