wow! What a great discovery. What talent and above all, what mastery in the representation of movements and gestures. Thank you for introducing me to this artist.
I can't find the words to describe the intensity and movement of his flat plane carvings. Glad you did it Jeff, and great that so many people can see them. An inspiration that I will probably never meet.
Did you also see the gigant recreation of the wedding carvings in one of the roundabouts in the town? It’s really cool and us locals always like to joke that clearly one of them is trying to decide if they really want to get married or not cause they have been standing there for years XD
Thanks for sharing it! Love those carving style. Do you know if the museum sells online books or catalogues related to Petersson carvings? I am not even able to find a website for this museum...
I don't remember if they had books on site when I was there and sadly they don't seem to have an online shop. Here's the website (it's in Swedish) www.oskarshamn.se/kultur-och-fritid/kultur-och-upplevelser/kulturhuset/museer-i-oskarshamn/doderhultarmuseet/
For your flat plane vikings where do you get your wood? I've been trying to look on Amazon to see similar sizes to yours but couldn't find anything so far
I got my wood from a friend of a friend so sadly, one can't get the same wood from a super store. That's also why I started doing work with the basswood from beavercraft so people can do the same projects without having to do so maths.
