Kyle, when we were there in October 2020 (when we met you), I remember the NBA Finals were playing at ESPN Sports and we afforded that area because the crowds were INSANE! So cool that you can experience the Special Olympics -- and thanks Jersey Mike's, being from NJ, we love Jersey Mike's. We ate their first sandwich in Maui Hawaii in 2021, of all places in the world!
Hi, Special Education Teacher here. The SO USA Games have been held every 4 years since 2006, so the one before Orlando was in 2018 (Seattle). Other previous host locations have included Iowa (2006), Nebraska (2010), & New Jersey (2014). Thank you for your enthusiasm & support of these wonderful athletes!
Hey Kyle I’m a former special Olympian and I live in New York. I did bowling basketball swimming volleyball track and field and I won gold medals in all of them
Thank you so much for showcasing this amazing event! My sister has Down Syndrome and has been a Special Olympics athlete for over 25 years, so my family is very familiar with not only these national games, but state and local games as well. Some of the most hard-working, determined, fun-loving athletes you will ever meet. Thank you again and hope to run into you around the parks! ❤️
Thank you Kyle for supporting Special Olympics. I am a unified partner and it is the best experience ever to be around these amazing people. I was in Orlando supporting Team New Mexico. I was at the swimming events and didn’t get to go to ESPN so thanks for showing that part of the competition. You should look into becoming a unified partner it will bring so much joy into your life. Thanks again for showing this event to people that don’t know about Special Olympics. You are the best.
I don't think one has to be a sports person to understand the importance of the Special Olympics. I think it's great that you are bringing awareness and gave us a look around.
special olympics is not all about just sports. athletes can also have leadership roles as well . you should go see a event that impacts people beacuse of the athletes. i am a a thlete and i do more then just play sports.
This video meant a lot Kyle. As someone who struggles with sight loss I love to see others take interest in the great abilities of all special-needs communities. Thank you.
This warms my heart. I'm so happy Special Olympics relented and allowed ALL athletes to participate instead of excluding those who couldn't take the vaccine for various reasons. Love this state!
I was a volunteer Coach for over 15 years S.O. Track. A “hole in my heart” was filled every year. I’m also a parent of an athlete. My son truly loved S.O.
I love that you made this video. Our son is autistic and has participated in Special Olympics since 4th grade. He is your age and today is his birthday 🎊🎉🎊 He loves it and both my hubs and I volunteer. Thanks for truly making my day, Kyle! Love and pixie dust😊👍❤✌😊
I work for Special Olympics and this just made my day! It is so awesome to see my favorite blogger visiting the organization I work for! Thank you Kyle!
Hey Kyle! My son has autism and is part of a special needs school that went to that event. He was too young to participate because he is only 5, but they sent the high school kids there. I can tell you that the energy of the special needs community is amazing! The families, teachers, and therapists I have met have been incredibly supportive! It is truly amazing and I’m glad you got to witness that yourself! 🥰
The special Ed community is great, they are all so nice and friendly. I wish I knew about this for my daughter. Thank you for taking the time to show this event, so cool! As for the special Olympics In the schools it was the first time in three years. It was canceled 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. As the school level it was amazing to see my child do things that she couldn’t normally do with others. The long jump, 50 yard relay, soccer ball kick, etc. I would love to see her compete outside the school.
A friend of ours just won a gold and a bronze in equestrian riding in the special Olympics. So proud of him. Thank you for showing us around the place.
thank you so much for sharing this!!!!! I am a former cast member, and my daughter is currently a recreation coordinator at the resorts that are hosting the Special Olympics participants! You are an angel for sharing this experience!
Thanks for taking us with you! Having a child that’s recently lost her eyesight this made my heart happy. I love being able to tell her about things like this so that she feels like she can do anything 🥰
I used to be in the Special Olympics when I was a kid through high school years ( for people with disability) and I was a track and field, basketball, and baseball! Great Video!😎
It makes my heart happy that you went to see the Special Olympics US Games! All of the Special Olympic athletes are so incredibly amazing. I am so glad to hear that being there brought you happiness. I have been to ESPN once for a cheerleading competition and yes, the complex it huge!
The military has their Warrior Games there too where wounded veterans compete in different sports. We tried to stay at Shades of Green last year in September but they were booked for the warrior games.
I am also a former athlete myself. That was so fun to see all the athletes. My son is starting back with special olympics in the fall. When you get a chance, could you do a vlog on accessibility in the parks and getting on and off a ride with a disability. (Wheelchair user and non) thanks in advance. I love watching your videos everyday.
I love that these athletes got experience this! I played in a soccer tourney when I was 16 here and I still remember it (especially because it was the middle of July and insanely hot). They will carry these memories with them forever!
I think it’s really nice that you took time to go and spend a little time with Special Olympics even if Wisconsin didn’t win you still went to show your spirit
I can't tell you how happy this makes me! I broke my neck 33 yrs ago in July and while I've never been into playing sports, zero coordination, but I love watching! I love you are excited about it too!!!!
Thank you for sharing!!! Special Olympics is a great organization!!! My son who has autism plays Special Olympics golf. He can drive about 150 yards. They taught him everything!
Hi Kyle I’m a special Olympics Florida athlete and we even do state games there at espn wide world of sports in November and may for spring/summer and winter/fall state games. I also have my own channel here!
My son’s in Special Olympics and we stopped there once when Florida was holding their state competition at Wide World of Sports and we were in the Disney area. It was fun to walk around like you did. Otherwise it’s hard to get unrestricted access to the entire facility.
I was in special olympics for years and what they do for athletes goes into every day life I wouldn’t have the confidence that I still have if I wasn’t apart of it. I had the chance to attend the world games. If you have any questions or what to know more please ask btw I was a cp in 2010
If you wanna experience another busy time at Wide World of Sports, stop by any of the RunDisney Expos during race weekends! The energy there is sooo much fun! I can't wait to be there for Marathon Weekend next year! Also a few years ago they had some NFL Pro Bowl fan stuff going on at the WWOS fields and it was wicked cool to experience.
I watched the opening ceremony on TV and it just warmed my heart ! it also made me really want to get my Special Education certification...I teach 8th grade right now .
This vlog makes my heart so happy! Thank you for showcasing this for us, your face was beaming with joy the entire video! Its videos like this that set you aside as a Disney content creator!
I am glad you had fun at the Special Olympics. My friends and family are part of it. My stepdad was invited to go to the opening ceremony at Explora Stadium. He is part of Jersey Mike's, the second big sponsor next to Disney. Jersey Mike's donated over $20 million to the Special Olympics. keep up the great work Oh yea and I'm glad you love Jersey mikes. P.S I can hook you up with free subs.
Very special day. Special Olympics holds a place in my heart, as I was in charge of our local preschool Special Olympics for many years. Love Special Olympics.
Kyle as someone who was diagnosed with an intellectual developmental disability at the age of four and participated in the Special Olympics it’s nice to have your support thank you I hope you have a beautiful day
Awesome video! I volunteered (in golf) for the USA Games Special Olympics in 2018 when they were in Seattle. It was a fantastic experience! Those who moved forward went to Dubai to compete internationally. Congratulations to all athletes! ❤️💪
We were there for our son, who played Basketball representing Indiana. It was a dream come true! We were there everyday and it was very hot! But thanks for recording this complex, now I can share it with our friends who were there, and with our friends and family who weren't there.
Looking forward to catching this after work!! Loved interactions with the Special Olympics staff and participants at the Texas regional held frequently at my university!!!
Omgoodness Thank U for making this video KP!!! Always wondered what the Special Olympics were like! Our little Princie with health issues has “special needs” too💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
there is so much more in special olympics then being athlete. i am a athlete from washington state. maybe sometime you should go to a event that has nothing to do with a sports to see other ways special olympics athletes impacts people . like a fundrasier or just something different . there is so much.
I live 10 minutes away and I went two days just to check it out. With it being 100 degrees outside I spent the most time watching basketball, nice and cool in there.
Thank you Kyle for showing us this special event. I can tell it meant alot to you to share it and to be there experiencing the games. If I may borrow from one of the other comments, I hope it filled a hole in your heart .
I was there competing at my first nationals in level one golf skills ,I made the top division at my first nationals I won a bronze medal, I'm glad you enjoyed your time and saw the joy on our faces 😀 👍
Thank you for doing this! Trust this I know - get to know some athletes - it will change your life for the better. My son Danny (MD Athlete and Disney fanatic) was at the last USA games (Seattle - 2018). FYI, Danny and I will be at Disney in September and Danny would love to be in one of your vlogs.
This is very different The Special Olympics thank you for showing this something different in new Always interesting And kind of gives you a break from going to Disney Parks but you are a Disney very cool thank you again Kyle
Hey Kyle! That complex is really huge, I've been there a couple times myself. I actually got to play a couple baseball games in that big stadium when I was in high school. And it was the Braves Spring Training facility before they moved. Such a cool and special experience for those athletes!
Idk why this video popped up in my feed but I was there volunteering at flag football all week. Glad you gave it some attention on your channel. It's only every 4 years. The last one was in Seattle and the one before that was in NJ.
Hi there special Olympics Connecticut athelete here the USA games are every 4 Years I went in 2010 in Nebraska in golf. I compete in track golf bowling basketball and floor hockey
That was really sweet. As a mom of two special needs kids, it's nice to see someone cares, like you, to show up and watch them, when you didn't need to. Thank you, for being such a wonderful guy, with a big heart!
Kyle this was so neat, I loved it - I've never seen that ESPN complex & I've only seen Special Olympics on posts and in the news. What a great event - joy in pure form 😃❤️ I can only imagine how excited and happy the athletes and families are - just wonderful.
I started the video and wasn't sure about how my husband would react...about 2/3 the way through he really caught your enthusiasm! He enjoyed the detailed tour of the area. Something different than Disney. It was also great to see the sparkle back in your smile.
What a great event to stumble on and document! Can only imagine all of the hard work that goes on to allow the athletes to travel and participate. I hope they all get some quality Mickey time too! What better place to host than the Most Magical Place on Earth. Thanks for sharing! Wendy Lady
Hey Kyle something cool I thought I would share with you if you haven't heard. Wisconsin Dell has unveiled the very first rotating waterslide in the Country. So next time your home it would be cool too see a video on that 😁 keep up the good work, you have helped me through some severe depression and anxiety, I never miss a video ❤
Hi Ky I think the last Special Olympics was in 2019 because I volunteer once a year in New York and they didn’t have one until now so I think it was 2019 the last one
