Mehrauli Archaeological Park
Mehrauli is unquestionably one of the most important sites on any Delhi heritage tour.
A stroll through the park will take you through exquisite ancient architecture from the Sultanate of Delhi, the Mughal Empire, and even the British Raj.
Continue strolling around the park, and a new architectural relic will appear at every turn. Many interesting works have become overgrown or are in shambles. On dusty trails, stone pillars marking the way to these locations can be found.
Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb-
After the Mughals invaded India, Jamali was awarded a position in the Mughal court, where he remained until his death during the reigns of Babar and Humayun. After his death in 1535, Jamali was interred in the tomb, which was reportedly built by Humayun alongside the mosque. Kamali's identity is still a mystery.
Jahaz Mahal- Not very far from Mehrauli Archaeological Park (approx 15-20 mins).
The purpose of the Jahaj Mahal retreat as a Sarai or (inn) was to provide transit lodging for the enormous number of pilgrims from various countries.
Another theory is that it was erected as a summer getaway for the monarchs Akbar Shah II and Bahadur Shah II, as well as their family, to escape the heat and dust of Delhi.
