As a little girl listening to AM Radio and soft rock of the seventies, I loved the music of the Raspberries. RIP Mr. Eric Carmen. This was the music of my childhood.
I doubt Paul would be jealous of Eric & his band. I can see Paul and John both being jealous, at times, of each other though. If anything I'd b e t he just admired the Raspberrys music and probably listened to them.
I'd guess the Beatles had something of a big brotherly attitude toward the Raspberries and Badfinger: "hey, we did that stuff 8-10 years ago ... but those guys are pretty good." And probably the same attitude toward the Knack and Cheap Trick later in the decade.

Just heard the news of Eric’s passing. I always figured I’d go see them on their next reunion tour. Sadly, that will never happen now. Thanks for all the great music, Eric.
The magnificent voice of the one and only Eric Carmen. This one is my favorite by the Raspberries. Eric really belted this one out. Thank you sir. You will surely be missed. And loved.
I was 16 then and having that Raspberries album made me very popular! So many of his best songs happened at a special points in my life. Thanks Eric. I will miss you.

Raspberries were labeled bubblegum and imploded pretty quickly. Seems to me that they couldn’t decide whether they were a boy band or a more serious rock/pop band. They had lots of talent, especially in Eric Carmen.
My daughters are 30 and 23 and they love the Raspberries because I introduced them to their music while the girls were just kids. This is one of my favorites of theirs. Could listen to it every day! Love the Midnight Special channel. Such great music from one of music's greatest decades!!
I'm in shock. I'm serious, I LOVE this man's music. When Richard Lewis died, I remembered Eric and for some reason, I felt dread for him. As if something was going to happen to him. It's very similar to the worry I felt for George Michael a day before he died. Eric... man.
@@richrol58 I was discussing it with my wife and I think that’s what happened. It’s subconscious level. He probably reminded me of Eric Carmen. However it’s interesting that a sense of dread and then this happens.
Same weird thing happens to me, I’ll draw up some past great singers/entertainers and then Poof! The news is so close in time that It makes me mad cause their lives were so busy that it either became too much one way or another, but it’s creepy how it happens to be the very ones I pick sometimes! You know the feeling 👍🧐
@@tamieckert4548 It's strange isn't it? Wild really. I'm not into paranormal things, a skeptic but fun-casual curiosity-interest in UFOs, that's it, but I'e had other things happen that I was like, why did I get that out of the blue? Or wish something into existence. But it may have to do with the ethereal qualities of music and how I believe that musicians, are born artist and have tapped something a bit beyond when they play, sing, create music. And, perhaps something they send out, without knowing that channels out to those that love and internalize their music. I know, sounds crazy, but ...
RIP Eric Carmen. Your music got me through some tough times and forever will be timeless! Thanks for the tunes and the memories that i will never forget
I could tell vocals are live. But you are right, music is not, because the song fades at the end. You can't do that playing live, obviously. @@jlaspesa9991
“Some success” for sure! He’s made millions just off of “All By Myself” - the royalties from everytime it’s sung on those TV talent shows plus when it’s gone to national exposure as a jingle on the Expedia ads.
Eric Carmen was amazing! He was a child prodigy-he started playing the violin when he was 3yrs. old. Such a talented guy and gorgeous to top it off. Somebody said he passed away recently. I say RIP Eric Carmen and you will always be loved and remembered ❤️ You were awesome in every way!
Almost positive they are miming. You can usually tell by the drummer barely hitting the drums (because they would drown out the tape), the drummer was out of synch with the tape a couple times, and the song fades out at the end. Live performances don't fade out. Still, one of my all-time favorite songs by one of my all-time favorite bands. This song made me want to become a musician - and I've played professionally all my adult life.
The Midnight Special was so amazing. All the current top acts in Rock, performing live, and late at night...after the Tonight Show on Friday Night!! 😊😊😊
When they got together for their 50th Anniversary, some bands start to fade and not sound the same, on their 50th Anniversary they kicked ass and sounded better than when they started. Love, love, love the Raspberries.
I loved the classic Raspberries and Eric Carmen as a solo artist. His unique facial and mouth expressions as his sang with fade and direct on microphone. RIP Erick Carmen.
Major inspiration.. eric carmen and his music kept me in piano lessons.. hoping one day I could play like him and maybe even write a song or two.. rip maestro.
Such a great song by such a great group. I loved this song from the first time I heard it and still sounds fresh and rocks. 2024 and it sounds so refreshing. Need more like it now.
In memory of Eric Carmen, whose timeless voice and soul-stirring melodies shall forever grace the tapestry of time and our hearts. His lyrical eloquence was a gentle breeze that caressed the souls of many, weaving a symphony of emotions that resonated with profound depth. Each verse he sang was a vibrant canvas, portraying tales of love, desire, sensuality and human connection, evoking a myriad of heartfelt sentiments in his listeners. Yet beyond his musical genius, he gifted us a legacy of unparalleled passion and artistic brilliance that will transcend the boundaries of life. Though he has bid us farewell, his music will continue to be cherished by fans worldwide for its emotional depth and timeless appeal. In homage to his boundless talent, may his legacy serve as a beacon; igniting inspiration in the hearts and minds of generations of musicians to come, as his celestial voice reverberates in an eternal symphony. Rest in eternal peace Eric.
My favorite group and the best lead singer. All four of these guys were immensely talented. I think they had just tapped their potential when they split up...With more great songs, and if they had stayed together....We would all be talking about them as one of the greatest rock bands ever. Love the energy of the guys around Eric....So much to enjoy in their songs.
