This is early Pentatonix, from their 2013 EP "PTX Vol II", one of 3 originals on the 9-song EP. Back then, the writing credit just went to "Pentatonix" (plus Ben Bram on one song). On their 2015 self-titled album (where 12 of the 13 songs were originals), each song credited one or more individual PTX members, plus each song had other songwriters / producers who collaborated on the writing. Of course, the entire group, plus Bram still did the arrangements. All the Pentatonix members co-wrote at least two songs on that album.

YES!!! One of my favorites of both covers and originals! Hope you will also listen to the mashup NewRulesx Are You That Somebody and their original Coffee in Bed for more beatboxing/bass magic. Different styles, but still 🤯.
If you enjoy Avi's bass you will be blown away by his solo music! It is an eclectic mix with Bluegrass, Country, Americana, Folk, Soul and Rock vibes. Let me say first, that this is exactly how I reacted to this song when I heard it the first time. Second, please don’t even say….that other group, Pentatonix is so far out of their league, they would need a telescope to even see them. PTX probably wouldn’t say it, they’re too humble, but I will. Third, they mostly use compression, reverb, and an occasional layering, PTX is probably the least “produced” of the bands out there. Check out some, or even one, of their live streams, before you make yourself look bad. I’ve seen them in concert three times, and they sound better live because there is only them, the music, and us.
This is the gold standard of a cappella EDM. their Daft Punk medley won a (well-deserved) Grammy, but this is even better, especially so considering it is from their second non-Christmas EP. Subscribed
This is one of my absolute favourite Pentatonix originals and overall songs. ❤ It's on every playlist I have! We're losing the fight against the fires here, they're less than an hour away on more than one side, and seeing this reaction absolutely made all the difference for my heart and soul in all the chaos and stress. Don't ever change, DJ, you are an absolute legend, never forget the impact you and your channel have on others!
@@Gwennedd Yes, I am. I'm in Peace River, we're right in the middle of the biggest fires. We had a hospital evacuated here today, and as I work in hospitality, I'm one of the people who is scrambling trying to find accommodations for evacuees and fire crews. Municipalities between us and High Level are getting ready to evacuate, and they are overflowing with evacuees, most of whom had to evacuate from a remote community that only had a 2-car ferry out and an hour to leave, so they couldn't even take their vehicles, we're trying to find buses or people who can drive up and transport those without transportation. It's a logistics nightmare, especially when everyone is so emotionally charged (understandably). Top that off with ash raining down, smoke so thick it's even in the buildings, and just regular life, by the time I get home from work I have nothing left. That's why I love coming to DJ's channel, his content always brightens my day, heart, and spirit, and the other members here are always so lovely to talk to. This place is my safe haven!
@@TeahVickery, That's awful!! And summer is just beginning! I hope things improve and the fires can be doused soon. Like I said, I know what it's like, having lived thru some fires myself. Thank goodness for people, yourself included, doing so much to help with all the problems that come with moving, housing and feeding people who need a place to stay. And all the firefighters from other provinces and countries. Yes, the logistics are immense and complicated, but it's amazing how others pull together to help during times like this. At least you have a place of respite with these videos, so that's something that helps with the anxiety levels. Virtual hugs to you and you loved ones.
@@Gwennedd That's the scariest part - we haven't even started our summer months yet! Next week the forecast says It's supposed to get back to normal May temperatures for us, rather than the 30+ temperatures we have been getting, and yesterday it said it was supposed to rain this weekend (May long, it's got to have bad weather or it wouldn't be May long, right), but now it's just Monday and only a 30% chance. Most years we still get snow on May long! It does feel good to be able to help, to know you can give someone at least one night of respite before the situation has to be reevaluated. Better busy than dwelling and panicking, that's what I tell myself, anyway! I vividly remember watching the news during the BC wildfires, and fervently wishing to never have to experience anything like it - what a macabre twist the whole "never say never" saying took! I hope you weren't directly in their path! I appreciate the love and hugs, I will hold on to them and share with my son when he gets home from his friend's house! ❤️
@@TeahVickery, I've been lucky except for the first year of the all-out fires. I was living in Kamloops at the time ( I think it was 2003 or 4) and the fires were all around the city, but mostly in the surrounding towns, so everyone was evac'd to Kamloops and Kelowna. I volunteered to help out at the SPCA which was going just nuts trying to rescue farm animals and pets left behind because of how little time people had to get out, house and foster out ( temporarily) people pets and take in and register all these animals. Donations were stored outside ( thankfully no rain), every inch of space was used, the rodeo grounds opened up and housed the larger farm animals, vets and pet stores were housing animls and the uni vet school was doing the same. It took months before things were back to normal. I live on Vancouver Island now, so not away from the forests, but we do tend to be cooler in the summers. I really hope the rains come soon!! The temps have been about the same as yours and like that for the last two weeks. The snowpack is almost all gone, so unless there is periodic rain, we're looking at another bad fiery summer somewhere in the provinces.

I'm not sure if you take RU-vid reaction requests, but here goes. More techno than EDM, you may like Imaginary Parties by Superfruit. Superfruit is a side effort by Scott and Mitch. And Imaginary Parties, written by Scott and Mitch (I think), is from their album called Future Friends.
When I first played this song from a playlist a friend gave me, I lost my mind. I was waiting for my bus at the stop. It sounds incredible with headphones. First Mitch attacked those notes like a beast, and then Kevin.....🤯 When Kevin hit that bassdrop, I forgot where I was and did an assdrop, as if I was transported to an EDM festival. 😂
This one and their Daft Punk live next to the bathrooms are my favourite lives of theirs, simply because they're so technically difficult and everyone always says they couldn't possibly do them outside of a studio setting. I wish I could see all the gobsmacked expressions on the faces of people being put in their place by the level of talent displayed.

The most astounding part about this is you finish it and you realize that there are no instruments. HOW???!!!!! This is an original song from PTX volume II which is a masterpiece. They were so good from the beginning.
Just subbed and am binging all your Pentatonix reactions. I notice that this is 10 months old, so at the time, no one was suggesting two of their most epic, epic songs - released in November 2023. You MUST react to the live Vevo video of Kiss From a Rose and the official video release of O Holy Night. We don't care that it's a Christmas song - we will listen to PTX songs all year long. Trust me, your face will melt off with Kiss From a Rose.
Great reaction to one of my favorite PTX videos! Just like you, I want to be in a club dancing every time I hear this one. A couple things - That really low bass beat is Kevin doing something called a throat beat. There is a reactor who is a beatboxer named Xureck and he said that few beatboxers can even do this, and that you have to be careful because it can hurt your vocal cords. That might be one reason why I have only seen one live performance of this song, and it wasn't in a concert. Also, when you talked about Avi's first bass segment (you said it right "Ah-vee), all I could think was "just wait!" A couple more to check out - PTX Radioactive and PTX Imagine, if you haven't seen them. The nice thing about Imagine is that all 5 sing a verse, including Kevin.
Originals i recommend: Seen in their popspring performance - cracked, water, can't sleep love. (evolution of Michael Jackson is in there too). That's Christmas to Me So that's four im recommending. Enjoy.

I see you just saw one of Avi's solo works. I also highly recommend Kevin's solo stuff. There's not a ton, but if you haven't seen his KOver of 'Down', do yourself a favor. It's a master class in musical performance and production.

I don't know why this song didn't get way more light on it than it did - I mean, even in the mainstream, which seemed to barely notice it. And yeah, while their covers are awesome, they've done some incredible original stuff as well. They typically write the lyrics themselves, and get help with vocal arrangements from their usual guy Ben Brams. Other originals of theirs I can highly recommend are: 'Coffee In Bed,' 'A Little Space,' 'Happy Now,' 'Love Me When I Don't,' 'Standing By...'

The reason Mitch's voice sounds less nasal than most tenors who sing in the rafters is because he is a true Counter Tenor. His vocal cords are quite literally the same length and thickness of a woman who sings Soprano. His voice is one in a billion!
