It's different when it's a pacific islander in Australia, watch how they claim him when he becomes famous in the world. Same thing happened with Jordan Mailata, not much media coverage but as soon as he signs USD 60+million dollar contract they claim him. Islanders are only Australian when they succeed and are famous but if they're naughty and are troubled teenagers/adults they deport them back to their parents or families countries even if they were born in Australia. I'm talking from real life experience and what I've seen living in Australia, don't get me wrong I'm not upset with Australians, I love this country however just stating the facts. Born and raised in Brisbane Queensland and not once have I been recognised as Australian, always get the "are you from NZ?", or where are you from ?, bet if I become famous, I'd be claimed as an Australian. The same thing happened when the Panthers Samoan rugby league players chose to play for Samoa, these boys would've been brought up the same as me and would've been looked at the same as us but because they're famous they're expected to go against how they've been viewed and treated as foreigners and pledge their allegiance to Australia. On one hand they want your loyalty when you become famous and on the other hand they don't want to know you if you're not famous and Jai Opetaia and many others fits the later, you watch when the world starts talking about him and he becomes famous how quick the Australian media will be to claim him. Again no heart feelings against fellow Australians I'm used to this and have lived with this all my life just stating facts and not to be surprised when these boys claim their heritage because that's all they've been known for even when we're born and brought up in Australia, we were known as samoans in school and everywhere we go. When they ask where you're from, it's not where you were born but where you're originally from but if you're famous it's no longer a factor where you're originally from only being born in Australia matters, double standards that I'm used too. They want you but only if you're famous hehe

But he was out for a bit with some kind of injury, then came back up in the Aussie scene in the last couple years. Even in Australia he was flying under the radar.
