According to the composer-keyboard player Tuomas, Floor is the best in the world at what she does. And I agree. But we must not forget that it is in fact Tuomas who creates 95% of this music and lyrics which Floor then brings to life. Tuomas writes emotional music, he is a storyteller and a poet. His ability to create emotions through music is incredible. Together with Floor and the rest of the band they create magic. Floor alone is fantastic, I've seen her perform solo, but with Nightwish she shines even brighter.
Tuomas is a true genius. When Floor joined it all came together for me. No disrespect to the previous vocalists they were great. She felt like THE voice of Tuomas. Unfortunately more members of Nightwish quit. But these two remain the heart and soul of Nightwish for me 🙏
@@DesertEagleDutch I've been around a long time and having heard so many great bands live I thought with the type of music that is around today I would never find another great band and then this year RU-vid brought me Nightwish. As a live band they are unsurpassed by any other I have heard in my long life and Floor is by far the best female singer ever she has the whole package.
If you want Disney movie stuff, then look on Floors own RU-vid Channel. She's sung things from Frozen. Also on her channel she has things from her solo career, from when she was in the band After Forever, and Coffee, Question & Answers which is her sitting down with a coffee and answering questions from her viewers. There's also a lot of stuff for during the pandemic where she posted about what she went around doing at home. Regarding catching them live, they won't be touring their next album, so Nightwish are on a tour hiatus for now. They haven't talked about for how long, just "for now".
To know Floor better, just go to her RU-vid channel. She left so many presents there ready to unpack. During lockdown she discovered RU-vid and did interviews with other singers and people she admires; did many covers of songs she likes (also 2 covers of songs from Frozen! for her daughter Freya); did some masterclasses and many videos with personal insights and did even a reaction video herself to the performance of 'Ghost Love Score' at Wacken 2013. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. There are so many interviews to find on RU-vid and collaberations with other bands.
Actually, Floor did train for a year in classical singing and opera - but she wanted to sing metal and went to a rock school. There already a video about that part of her life. Check it out!
Fun fact: Floor is one of only three people I'm aware of that moved to Sweden as an adult but learned to speak the language without an accent. The first one is a Ukranian personal (girl) friend of mine, who indeed is also a musician and briefly played keyboards in the acclaimed goth metal band Draconian. The second one is current Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, who lived in Sweden for a while as a hot dog salesman (!) and still speaks the language flawlessly. Amazing for a Brit! And the third one is Floor, these days residing on the Swedish west coast with her two children and husband/Sabaton drummer Hannes Van Dahl. Once shy about her height, she now embraces it to the point of wearing her high heels even indoors! Her husband, however, is even taller. Of her Nightwish bandmates, only Tuomas Holopainen can say the same: measuring 188 centimeters to Floors 183.
Floor really has a talent for foreign languages: Dutch (native speaker), English, Swedish, a little bit Finnish, rather good German. And when she sings in languages she doesn't speak (e.g. Spanish, Italian, Latin) her pronuncation is so good that even native speakers are surprised.
Floor’s voice and Tuomas’s music is just something else. They together touch something deep inside of me, that makes me very emotional. So I truly can understand why you might get teary eyed listening to them.
There is no description for Floor that even comes close to doing her justice. Floor is simply Floor and does Floor things that any other singer would fail miserably at.
Your ....wish is our command ;) BTW, you were both right, Floor has an opera/music theatre background. Nxt song: same concert (Wacken 2013): "Romanticide" Floor interview, well worth a reaction: "Floor Jansen in Dutch show Reunion (Tampere 2015)" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zRqqma4kWIg.html (this is the right version; the one with more views has a/v sync issues after 30secs). Tip: activate CC, make the video as big as possible so ppl can read the subs. Enjoy!
Men, women, the whole Nightwish Army has Floorgasmes. We're not ashamed to admit it. In fact, we are proud of it. She bewitched every soul that hears her voice.
Nice Reaction ! Now that you discovered the more poppy Side......are you ready for some stuff that is a little harder ? Then the next stop needs to be "Romanticide" from Wacken 2013...you will love it.... Getting Emotional when listening to Floor: Normal reaction...this even happens years later...she is weaving strong magic..... All Hail Queen Floor !
If you want to hear what Floor sounds like in her native tongue, you should watch/react to The Reunion of her school days. See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zRqqma4kWIg.html This 'documentary' also focuses on the Nightwish concert in Tampere, where her parents were also interviewed. (English subtitles are available)
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song about the beauty of storytelling and imagination. With this song, Nightwish encourages listeners to embark on their own journey of discovery, setting sail on the limitless "chest of tales" to explore the limitless possibilities of imagination. P.S. Floor only studied musical theater part time for a year, just like she did opera. She guit her opera studies as she found that style on singing limiting her ability to use her voice in many different ways.
Hey guys. Nightwish Phoenix fan and subscriber here for you. Great reaction to another of my favorite epic performances. Floor is one of the greatest female vocalists in history and I have had the wonderful pleasure of seeing Nightwish live in San Francisco in 2022. Simply wonderful in every respect. Thank you.
Thanks for the review, StoryTime is a great catchy song! Nightwish isn't just Floor; it's mainly Tuomas who writes most of the music and lyrics. He is the genius behind all of these great performances!
No, not an insult. Tuomas loves Disney. Floor also said she would love to sing for a Disney film. However, she claimed she has heard Disney does not treat their artists very well. Rob & Steff, firstly i would like to say why haven't i found you way before Floor & Nightwish. Love your Great reactions from both of you. I am an old rock artist that never Appreciated Synth Metal but who can not Appreciate the Quality of Nightwish. The Nightwish army are amazing. Very kind regards from GB, England, Birmingham, Peaky Blinders Country............
Never heard another singer male or female that has such purity and control in her lowest notes to the highest. It all appears effortless and to think she is singing live across a set of a dozen plus songs some of which go for 5-10 minutes.
Floor had operatic training, be it not that long as metal was calling... A performance by Floor with a Puccini aria, incl intro (English subs): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Od_qcbw3f5Q.htmlsi=6hCH619oaVRzgkIi
Metal wasn't calling. She was already a metal singer. She studied opera to become a better metal singer. She was the front singer of After Forever during her studies.
She has done "Let It Go". Look for her solo stuff. Do try her version of Shallow from Beste Zangers. All are here on youtube. Romanticide is solid metal.
If you haven't checked out the band Sabaton from Sweden, you should. A lot (all?) of their songs are about real events like WWI and WWII. There's a song about Alvin York and a song called Night Witches - I'll let you find out about it. I think there's a song about the Red Baron. Not only good songs, but historically important. Alvin York was in the infantry - the 82nd, which was later converted to the 82nd Airborne. Then there's the group Amaranthe that performed the song about York ("82nd All The Way") with Sabaton in concert. Sabaton's drummer is Floor's husband. Amaranthe has several great songs, but one particularly moving songs is called "True" - here I strongly recommend the music video.
she has no classical background, she rocks the stages from teenager years on she STUDIED classical singing for 1 year and who told you she was in a musical ?!? this is new to me
Hello from Finland , love your way to react these videos. My favorite song from Nightwish is Creek Marys Blood . It tales The story behind American history , how they take the lands away from The Native people . Try the end of an era dvd version if you may . Keep on 🤘🤘🤘 .
Not Nightwish but I heartily recommend Face your demons (live) (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4sg1SVQ_QvQ.htmlsi=3O6VDReftn0yeib7) She is very animated while doing vocal acrobatics in this performance.
Sorry to disappoint you, Stephanie. There is only one Floor in this world. But there is also a Simone in this world ( Epica 😉🤘) But the Army has accepted you both as soldiers. I salute you 🫡🤘 Greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
A great day now for sure! Thank you folks for my daily feed of Nightwish! I too wish I could be Floor my lady. So many songs, watching for your next reaction. FYI before you do "The Poet and the Pendulum" please check out the history of the song so you know what to watch for in the live version! 3 minutes!

Floor did have a year of opera training at the Tilburg Conservatorium. Also Floor has recorded two Disney tunes, mostly for her daughter, on her RU-vid channel. They are Into The Unknown and Let It Go, the best version of which is from her live solo concert from Amsterdam.
Floor never wanted to be a music star. She has been a metalhead since her youth and her first band, After Forever, already played symphonic metal. She first attended a rock academy and then a conservatory to learn the basics of classical singing. She expressly denies being an opera singer. She would have had to study longer for that. A musical student applied to replace the first singer Tarja, but was not accepted by Nightwish due to her lack of experience. She had already had dance lessons as a child. But that was completely pointless, she was only ever in metal bands and is now very well known. The song is not one of the best, but it fits: Amaranthe - True (Official Music Video) Floor will definitely go on tour next year, but with her solo program and most likely not in the US. At the moment she is limiting herself to the Netherlands and DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). We'll see if that's enough for her. I can imagine partners with whom she could go on tour. Nightwish will not perform next year and mastermind Tuomas has no plans for 2026. Tuomas himself and probably the other members will tour with their side projects in 2025. We will see a lot of Nightwish in Europe without Nightwish being active. It will be difficult on other continents. The ex-members Tarja+Marko are touring all over the world. You should think twice if you want to be Floor. She also has a burnout that cost her 18 months of therapy and inability to work. She is a workaholic who is in danger of losing control of herself. That happened to her again last year when she had to cancel concerts. She sings so well because she is trained like a competitive athlete. The song itself is part of the concept album/film score Imaginaerum. It introduces the main character.
Floor has 1 year of Musical Theater and Opera traing at conservatory but no actual musical theater experience. She has done a few songs from it though.
Well start attending musical college and after that the conservatorium. Then found your metal band and play play play for years. Maybe if you are insanely talented and dedicated it will become true 😊
Please do this version of The Greatest Show on Earth. It is better than the other versions of the song because of things specifically done this concert. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SJepbPuqNU4.html
You wanted lists again? Well, Wacken 2013 was an amazing concert/performance, but you shouldn't overlook the band's many other stellar live shows. I was very fortunate to have attended Wacken 2013 (when I bought tickets, Anette was on the ticket), Tampere Finland 2015, and Wembley Arena 2015. I had planned to go to Buenos Aires in 2018 but was ill. I stopped going to concerts after my illness and honestly enjoy DVD/Bluray versions of concerts that I can watch from my comfy recliner without having to stand for almost two hours and can pause between songs to get snacks and for bathroom breaks. Getting too old for concerts I'm afraid - just not for the music.
Guys, you might try shrinking your image and scooting it off to one side some. It;s like I'm at the movies trying to look over two NBA forwards to see the movie!
Floor is the Queen and best. Performers like Taylor Swift, Lady GaGa, Adele, and the list goes on. They would not make a good pimple on Floor's ass. MPO.
Not interested in any other bands, their music sucks. 6 or so songs from Nightwish Wacken 2013 are the only concert songs I watch reactions to. Also, I watch reactions to Floor's cover songs and her Beste Zanger's performances. Other reactions to (Floor) ReVamp - Disdain Live at Graspop (2010), Nightwish - High Hopes (End Of An Era DVD) [HD], (Floor) NORTHWARD - While Love Died (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO), Nightwish - While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley Arena), NIGHTWISH - The Islander (LIVE AT TAMPERE), and a couple songs from her Live in Amsterdam 2021 show. That's about it. One more thing, your heads cover most of the video. Never cover up Floor while she's singing. She is best when you can see all of her from head to toe.
and after you have finished your first "down slowed" version of a Nightwish Video, i HIGHLY recommend to use the original videos, or content from YTChannel "Nightwish Arena" for best possible quality and CORRECT SPEED there is to find in youtube. please, i hate these slow downed tunes, even Floor´s voice can´t handle this sh... thanks
