Keith Green died at the prime of his career, yet his music and lyrics continue to touch the hearts of believers and challenge them to live what they say they they believe. I know this is hard. What? With all the temptations from the things of this world, sometimes it's a struggle. But we, as believers, have our strength from Jesus and the Truth from Word of God to guide us. I hope you have a personal relationship with Jesus because He wants to have an intimate, personal relationship with you.
I heard this song after many Years almost 20 years and I have repeated the dial more than 10 times. It has blessed me. I want to be more like Jesus. Oh Keith's weepy voice just blesses me all the way from Kenya.
Keith had to have one of the most expressive voices I've ever heard. I think I read Melody (his wife) once describe it as "weepy", which I think is pretty close to a perfect way of putting it. This song particularly shows off that quality. So beautiful it makes my heart ache.
Just heard a Korean American Vanderbilt professor, give his testimony about coming to Jesus Christ while a Keith song was being sung by worship leaders. The truth of the word yields a harvest.
When we were dating in 1983 just 6 months after his tragic plane crash, Cheryl and I went to one of those memorial concerts in KC. When the invitation was given "Jesus commands us to go" Cheryl immediately stood up. At the time I knew she was the one I wanted to spend my life with. But on the mission field in some dark place like Africa? God and I had a little talk that night. I don't think I stood up with Cheryl then, but I have stood up with her and "Jesus for 34 years now who commands US to go. It should be the exception if we stay." You all can be praying for Cheryl. Yesterday on call she lost a NICU baby at 1pm. A mom at 3 pm. And a mom and baby at 10pm. Most folks here have no prenatal care, they just come in when they are very very sick or when non functioning government hospitals either turn them away or refer them since they can't, sometimes won't help these poor people.
AMEN! I love this song, "I Want to Be More Like Jesus." In this hurried world, we often leave out the One who we need the most, JESUS! 'Yes, Lord I want to be more like You.' + + +
please pray for my brother Jonathan who has been missing since 2 march 2014. we fled from Satanic Ritual Abuse in 1993 when we told my father about his stepfather Raymond Cheseldine Gaver. people dont understand that persecution is alive in this country by other names as much as it was in the 1 century A.D,
As each day passes by, I feel my love run dry I get so weary, worn and tossed 'round in the storm Well I'm blind to all His needs and I'm tired of planting seeds I seem to have a wealth of so many thoughts about myself I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him Our Father's will was done by giving us His Son Who paid the highest cost, to point us to the cross And when I think of Him taking on the whole world's sin I take one look at me compared to what I'm called to be I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him Remember, there's no greater love Than to lay down your life for a friend The end of all my prayers is to care like my Lord cares My one and only goal, His image in my soul Yes, my weakness is revealed when by His stripes I'm healed He's faithful and He's true to complete the work He begins in you I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him Remember, there's no greater love Than to lay down your life, no There's no greater love than to lay down your life For a friend, for a friend I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus I want to, I need to, be more like Him
I want to be more like Jesus. Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.(1 John 2:6). Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.(Isaiah 64:8). Thank you God JC, K.Green, Gianni1846 all GBU:)
I'm 15 and like keith's music.Let's realize what it means to be like YESHUAJesus) he lived the word of YAHWEH he taught us how to keep Torah(Teachings rendered law) many believers today have been following the laws of Constantine which is so sad not Messiah's way.if you read the greek lexicon and history Yeshua, paul, early believers Jews and non Jews keep torah not for salvation, that was never the intent but for fruit as abraham was saved by faith.I encourage all believers to study.Shalom!
The lyrics are a bit off: As each day passes by, I feel my love run dry. I get so weary, worn, And tossed around in the storm. Well I'm blind to others needs, And I'm tired of planting seeds. I seem to have a wealth, Of so many thoughts about myself. I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus. I want to, I need to, be more like him. Our fathers will was done, By giving us his son, Who paid the highest cost, To point us to the cross. And when I think of him, Taking on the whole worlds sin, I take one look at me, Compared to what I'm called to be. I want to, I need to, be more like Jesus. I want to, I need to, be more like him. Remember, there's no greater love, Then to lay down your life for a friend. The end of all my prayers, Is to care like my lord cares. My one and only goal, His image in my soul. Yes my weakness is revealed, But by his stripes I'm healed. Hes faithful and hes true, To complete the work he begins in you.
Gianni, thanks for the upload. Please check the lyrics you posted, especially in the first verse. You can get them from the liner notes on the album "So You Wanna Go Back To Egypt".
Yes, very beautiful song! A couple of the words are incorrect, however. It should be: Well I'm blind to others needs (and I'm tired of planting seeds).
Ummm, try reading in CONTEXT next time and MAYBE you would realize that this is a STORY/PARABLE Jesus told, not an actual encounter He had. I would suggest starting with verse 11 where it tells you it was a PARABLE.
Luke Phillips how dare u make fun of our Lord and saviors name. That is despicable beyond words. His name is Jesus not jebus. You and all the others who have done this should be ashamed of yourselves
