Good luck on your training to become a boat safety examiner and hope you do pass Lorna, Also a great vlog as well, I remember once that a Railway club invited me to do a presentation and looking back at it now, didn't think it was for me being honest but love how you got on 'stage' and started your presentation

Interesting stuff ref the BSS examiners' course. Does this course you are doing include checking the LPG system? The bloke who did mine also did CCs. I noted, as did CC, the examiner was 'very" particular with the gas system (and fire prevention) and this took up most of the time he spent on the boat. This examiner mentioned that the BSS tests change over the years as different issues are picked up from time to time. I would suggest you'll be doing refresher courses from time to time as and when. The bloke who did mine is "seconded", if that's the correct term, to CRT/BSS in order to "redesign" the course to meet different criteria in view of the way technology is changing. Definitely sounds as if you're never going to be bored in your new venture. Well done you.

Morning from Australia. Congrats on the new course, you'll ace it of course. I'm surprised he says a nozzle-steered boat is difficult. We had a 38-foot line boat with a nozzle and I found it a delight to con. The only downside is you don't get transverse thrust which is, of course, handy when it comes to docking a single screw vessel, especially a heavy, deep draft one without thrusters.

Their mooring landing is quite small with moored boats either side and lots of wind. I imagine that was pretty tricky

@@lornajaneadventures yeah as I said berthing is the one time they are a liability unless they can rotate a full 90% to either side which isn't very common, it's usually around 35 to 40 deg. It's just a matter of getting used to it tho, he can probably thread the eye of a needle with her.

Nice vlog… an horror to be asked to speak. The best of luck with your test(s) but I know you will pass with flying colors. Back in “the day” - early 1970s- I was the first female at doing several things.. quite proud to have paved some small way for others who followed and never had to worry about such a thing as “a female can’t do that”💜💜💜💜🦩

What an interesting video Lorna. Slightly different to the norm. Absolutely loved it. I was about to go out to the pub for a pint and some food, but you got me glued to watching it. Nice one, and good luck with your up-and-coming BSS training.

Congratulations on being a Narrowboat examiner! Will this become your day job!? I knew you couldn't stay away from the Cut. Next thing you know CC will be getting a nice lil snug, tiny canal boat!

You're also brave to have soo small a boat [hope it arrives on time]. I'd need at least the full bath, the bigger 30' plus boaties. You'll have a blast. It'll be your old van on water!

Nice one Lorna. I’d wish you luck on the examiner course but I’m confident you won’t need it. I’d never heard of this canal so thanks for the introduction, unfortunately I can’t see Wobbly visiting any time soon.

Hi Lorna, Great video especially involving those that seem to have welcomed you to their Chelmer Canal Trust. Are we to take it that you would be seeking to take up a mooring there? It's certainly one of the nicer parts of Essex. I used to live in Essex, not far from Chelmsford and was even involved with a social club there for a while until I moved to Suffolk. I hope all continues well with your boat and your plans. Take care, Jon B.
