Yeah, HSN definitely did him dirty. To just outright fire him without even offering him any support was wrong, and you know that at least one of the people who made the call to terminate his employment was themselves addicted to painkillers. HSN is a joke of a company, and they clearly don’t give a damn about their employees because they didn’t even offer him the choice of coming back after rehab. According to Maven WWE, for all of their vile behavior, did reach out to him and talked to him about rehab and getting off of the pills even though he hadn’t been part of the WWE for years at that point.

Jesus Chris, dude. This is the best discussion on "personal accountability" I think I've ever seen. Okay, while what I'm about to say might seem a little "harsh" I sincerely don't mean it as a negative... Your videos have been popping up in my feed for a few weeks (because once in a while I might watch an occasional old-school WWE match) and when I saw your videos my first reaction was "why the f*ck is this 'Tough Enough' guy coming up in my feed!?" Eventually I took the bait and I'm only 3 or 4 videos in and I cannot express enough how down to Earth and genuine you come across. Maven, I say with with the most utmost sincerity, please keep doing what you are doing. With this trajectory, I would like to see you continue with you own path upwards and inspire those listening. I'm an alcoholic. Speaking about our experience helps us more than others. It's encouraged to talk about our challenges and consequences we went through so we remember what we where and how far we've gone. Thanks for posting this intimate vid. Not easy for us addicts to speak about it but it does help us continue healing. I'm enjoying watching your vids and career and what you do now. I hope things keep getting better for you and other former wrestlers.

handing them out like sweets is what my GP had been doing for years.... painkillers... wouldn't ever admit to overprescribing.. they will deflect and put the blame on the patient.. and suggest the patient was taking too many and that the prescription was correct number... which makes NO sense
@DanHammonds
@DanHammonds 7 месяцев назад
@@nicotoscani1707 That's so messed up. It was a strategy of the Sacklers to portray painkiller addicts as lowlife drug abusers to detract from the clear fact that their product was highly addictive, dangerous and overprescribed. I really feel like Maven is a victim here not a criminal.

We’re all glad you’re still here Maven. I used to laugh at the idea of addiction as a disease. Until I noticed it happening to me and learned that while everyone has the capacity to become addicted, different people have different levels of susceptibility. I don’t necessarily view it as a physical disease, even the physical addiction. But it’s like any mental or personality disorder. It may not happen to you, but don’t think that it can’t, because it can happen to anyone. Some peoples’ brain chemistry makes them more easily affected. Stay strong, Maven. And congrats on the wax figure. 🤨

I too had a problem with painkillers, all I could get was codeine, but I took a LOT of it. If you hadn't said you liked the pills. I'd know you were lying. If you didn't enjoy the feeling, you wouldn't have developed a problem. I know it's not something you're proud of, but telling your story might help someone else who is struggling so good work Maven. @Maven Huffman Thank you for posting this video Maven. Not too long ago I was in a similar situation. Although it didn’t circle around painkillers; mine were depression meds bc I’m battling demons right now. They involve not being where I thought I should be in life etc., Depression meds were a barrier. Then one night I got arrested (details are private). Like you, this was my first time. Got a good lawyer, no charges, first time offense. Already completed 2 months therapy. I’m slowly starting again from scratch. It’s just good to know you aren’t the only one suffering ya know?? Between you and Kurt Angle, I’m happy to hear that you’ve survived the path of addiction. It’s like a washing cycle from Hell. Perc will take all your pain away but I know how easy it is to fall into the trap. I needed them after surgery and I had other substances I messed with. I thank you for telling your story and we need to encourage people to be as open and not judgmental. I got Jesus with me and I pray you find each other.
