As a former art teacher of 45 years, I always told my students that it was about process, not project. Every attempt improves the artist's ability to "see". I think that all the participants did a wonderful job. The paintings were all beautiful. The great Japanese artist, Hokusai, (the Great Wave) on his death bed at 80, after painting over 80,000 works of art, told his daughter that if he could just have 10 more years, he could learn to paint. Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize. I have watched Stephanie since her first 5 minute video. I am the viewer who was in a car accident and sustained 13 broken ribs and a broken back. Then covid started. Stephanie cheered me up, made me laugh, gave me a sense of family (I'm 75.) and inspired me to clean out 50 years of accumulation and move from Memphis to Colorado near my son. I sent her 3 boxes of books, fabric, and rabbit pillows with brooches for Phillip. I love all the videos from all the chatelaines and love the sense of community! I love all of you and you ALL make me happy. I know that I am one of thousands who feel the same way. I love the LaLande family, the world over! ❤😘

My first reaction was that the painting did not look like Stephenie. But when the video showed her sitting on the chair from the Joanna’s canvas, Stephenie looked exactly the same image on the painting. Joanna is truly an artist. A most enjoyable video. Lovely works of art by the guests. And Stephenie has captured both the inside and outside of the chateau beautifully.

As I am someone who can’t draw a straight line or a realistic circle, I was amazed watching the process of her painting! She has such control while holding the brush in a way that would have me flinging paint across the room! And the way she uses the mirror for a second perspective is creative. Yesterday I put brush to canvas to practice painting a landscape. My husband looked at it and had unkind words to say about it. I am by no means a painter, just seeing how it felt. I kept at it. Later my husband saw the finished product and liked it. But the unkind comments are those that remain in my mind. I told him I expect to see him paint and I will hold him to it!

What Johanna said was so true. I have not fully reflected on COVID times as we were shutdown for months and months on end by extremely strict government measures. It resulted in very few deaths but life was tough. That was when I found all the Château programmes including Dan. It is wonderful to still follow you all, as reverse seasons make it great to see summer whilst we are in winter.

Yes, dear Stephanie, you do deserve a humanitarian award for helping so many people through very dark times. I was jn Baku, Azerbaijan at that time fortunate to walk in a pretty little garden while my father was battling cancer inside his little apartment and we were too scared to vsiit him too often, while I did get to see him almost every other day I had to sprwy myself head to toes with disinfectant before entering his apartment. I had cried myself to sleep most nights and watched you to during the day to escape for at least a little while. Thank you! I can not believe I rolled my eyes at your video's introduction, thinking here another daddy's rich girl in a yellow skirt showing off their old house 😂

It's always lovely to see chateaux from others perspectives, and this is wonderful. Now, I love all of them but Puy Vidal is my absolute favourite chateau of all the chateau channels I have watched - it was a love at first sight moment when I watched Steph & Co's tour from a couple years ago which led me to The Lady of the Chateau channel - and the love is still burning bright!

With all due respect the painting looks nothing like Steph initially .. however, whatever people think it's up to the artist to paint "their" impression of something, they will see things that don't transfer well on a vlog. I feel Stephs' internal heart beauty has been captured, her passion and love for her life, and her kindness in her face and to me there is a lovely glow about the picture. Every artist has their own way of working we should respect that as long as Steph loves it thats all that matters. 😊

What a beautiful portrait! How can someone be so talented! Loved the paintings throughout the video too. As an on and off painter I know how relentless we can be on our own work. It takes guts to share yours even when you are painting it. Thank you all for sharing.
