I just stumbled across this video and it was amazing to hear someone articulate an experience so very similar to my own. I was diagnosed with ADHD (inattentive) this summer at age 38, after scheduling my son for an evaluation and before getting his combined-type diagnosis. I've been on the fence about trying medications so I really appreciate hearing your experiences there, too.

Wow!!! I hear myself through your written reflection. The breaking point for me has also been motherhood. The noise, responsibility, distraction…I don’t get to daydream and hyper focus like I crave. Late night productivity, interest focused activities drive me to complete the mundane moments. I haven’t been diagnosed yet. Waiting for the appointment which has a 8-12 month wait. In the mean time just taking anxiety meds wondering what will come next.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it sounds so similar! Solidarity! I wish you all the best in getting your diagnosis, and that it is as life changing for you as it was for me.

Amen! Thank you for sharing your story and bringing awareness to the topic. As you know I suspect my daughter has ADHD and I’ve struggled trying to understand what she is going through. Hearing your story really helps!

I suspect I have ADHD and have suspected for a while now. However, after watching your video, I'm shocked at how many similarities there are between us. I want to pursue a diagnosis, but don't even know where to start.

So glad my experience could help you find some clarity! It's amazing once you become aware of it, everything makes so much sense all of a sudden. You can start by talking to your primary care doc about it. You can get a referral to a psychiatrist or neurodevelopmental psychologist who specializes in neurodiverse conditions. Hope that's helpful!

My mom who has ADHD as well was also exploring it as well because myself who has Autism and ADHD, that’s what got her thinking….. she was diagnosed 2 years ago while I was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD 7 years ago. My mom and I actually took that same exact test. My mom has actually tested me on that before even after me getting diagnosed. It’s actually true that I have it because that day I was spinning as fast as a cyclone and wouldn’t pay attention. As for my ADHD mine is mainly about me losing interest so everything has to be “fun” in order for me to pay attention When she took the test she realized herself that she couldn’t do it because she was getting distracted by every little thing. So we can relate: BTW I have the hyper active type. As for autism I’m high functioning but only for certain things. This meaning I’m good at school and things that others aren’t at but can’t seem to hold a fork or sit still at the table during dinner. My grades are the same thing. They aren’t consistent(it’s gotten better. My senior year of high school I did a awesome job and got all A’s and B’s but it took bribing and I’m the same way because even though to my parents Im an angel they usually still have to fight me with eating dinner. Even if it’s something I will eat….
