Signs to look out for indicating that she may be fertile - egg white cervical mucus, or the presence of watery cervical mucus, a rise in body temperature etc. So to do a test before ovulation is not a good idea because conception would not have happened yet. It takes about 5 days after egg meets sperms to travel to the fallopian tube and then another 5 days for implantation to occur, so the best time to test for pregnancy is the day of her expected period because that's when implantation would have occurred. It is stressful to keep testing at the wrong time. I would suggest going to a gynaecologist to understand more of how the female body works.

I personally have a longer cycle so my ovulation is from day 18. Having a period tracker and going to a gynaecologist for counseling will give you more insight on your most fertile days to try for a baby and this varies from woman to woman depending on their cycle lengths .
