Yes he is pretty good. I normally don't care for these press junket interviews because most of them make me cringe. His are great, and you can tell the actors know him and like him. Like they are thinking " thank god, not another idiot with the same stupid questions.". I wish his interviews were longer. I am actually binge watching the BBC 1 channel right now after seeing some of his interviews with the avengers cast members. I also love Grahm Norton, I am American and I think his show is one of the best talk shows ever done. I have to give credit to Mr. Oldman too, besides being a brilliant actor he always gives a decent interview, even when the interviewers are not that great.
Gary Oldman is a legend, but the intervierwer guy really knows what he is doing. I watched quite a few of his interviews and they are really good conversations. Mainly because of his passion for movies and his knowledge and preparation. Keep up the great work. Greetings from Germany.
Yes I agree, like I said in another reply here, he always gives a great interview, even if the interviewer isn't so great. He just seems like he is very present/in the moment and stays on point with the question. I don't know much about his background but he seems very intelligent and well educated. Him and Allen Rickman are two of my favorite character actors. They can pull off any role you throw at them.
Actually disagree. These interviews are too much about “see how much I know and how well I prepared for this interview”, and not enough about hearing what the actor actually has to say
I like how Gary goes from being slightly guarded and tense to totally at ease and relaxed by the end of the interview. Props to the interviewer for his skill.
Being a good entertainment interviewer is all about getting the people you interview to relax, have a good time and show their personality and this guy does it brilliantly. It's not about trying to get them to reveal personal secrets or to say something they shouldn't have, it's about helping the actor show off the best and most positive aspects of themselves to the audience.
That moment half way the interview when you realize that Oldman could have played: Gordon, Joker, The Scarecrow, Dent, Penguin, The Riddler and well why not, even Batman.
@@sassoon1126 His vocal work is fucking mind blowing, pretty much every single movie he's done is a different voice. For me, the greatest male actor there's ever been, no-one else has the wide versatility of Oldman.
This interviewer is great. Watched the one with Tom Cruise that was also well done. He puts his stars at ease because he researches their movies so well, bringing out memorable touches in their parts that compliment their performances. They revel in it and open up to him because they see he is rooting for them. They do not feel threatened by him, relax and have a good time. He needs to be careful. He is walking a fine line of real to fake admiration that could backlash if he is not sincere.
@@DM-bv9uh The most obvious is for the interviewee to shut down and simply give yes no answers for the remainder of time if they pick up on the fact the interviewer is going through the motions or actually knows nothing about them or what they have done. Another backlash is to never allow another interview with them. This has happened.
There are so man actors that are fantastic but to me the one that rules them all is Gary Oldman. The diversity of his roles and his acting together with amazing make up can make him into anyone. I have seen a few films not even realizing he was in the movie until the end credits rolled. The transformation is unreal.
I like how at a certain point of the interview it just feels like they forget they are there and they start talking like they are at the pub. Sharing stories without the typical “think carefully about what you are about to say movie interview”.
This is great! I want more! Longer interview! So many GREAT movies to discuss. The Firm, State Of Grace, Romeo Is Bleeding, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Gary is sensational!
It's completely insane that it took all the way until 2018 for Gary Oldman to win an Oscar. He's absolutely incredible. A true shapeshifter and master of the craft. Truly one of the greatest of all time.
p 3vedi I know :( Sadly, they kinda wasted him in the HP movies. David Thewlis too. Two amazing actors and amazing characters with not nearly enough screen time. Still love Harry Potter though. ⚡️
These interviews are fascinating to watch. I could see Gary Oldman being cast as classic actor John Hurt in a John Hurt biopic, and delivering a spot on performance. Gary was brilliant in his film role as Winston Churchill, and he comes across as being a true gentleman in his interviews.
@Asha Ale The first movie Gary Oldman was in was Sid and Nancy, where he played punk rocker Sid Vicious. The next movie I saw him I saw him in was Immortal Beloved, where he played classical music composer Ludwig van Beethoven. So, right out of the gate, he played and continues to play a wide range of characters. More recently he played Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour and now playwright Herman Mankiewicz in Mank. He's probably my favorite actor of all time.
Before I only knew him as Sirius in Harry Potter, and then when I watched The Dark Knight(which is fantastic, story-action-casts, and this is coming from a non batman fan) in the ending credit I was surprised that Gordon is Sirius and was like wth?! and then watched his other films and just realized what a great actor he is 😍
Truly one of the most underrated actor's of our time. Gary can and does stand toe to toe with a Hanks, Anthony Hopkins or Morgan Freeman yet he never seems to get unleashed on a Iconic movie release. You stand there mouth agape in awe of that man's versatility and think................why.................why............why don't he do more! Could be a agent problem who knows.
Wow you know when you look at an interview and you think, whats the point, this interviewer is an idiot. This guy in interviewing Oldman is not one of those people. Such an enjoyably interview. You can tell because Gary Oldman is usually awkward and uncomfortable, which inst the case here.
When you hear "Gary Oldman", you go "Ooooh", but when they just say his first name, especially in English, it just sounds like "Oh Yeh, you know Gary, he's my mate from the pub, inny?"
When they brought up villains he played in that montage at first, I was a little let down that they didn’t show Air Force One. But then they did and I was good. I love that movie, it’s so underrated!
Oldman is SUCH a talented actor, I'm always knocked right out by his performances and the one liners he seems to so casually blend right in. He's just as talented on the talk shows. Superb.
Immortal Beloved is one of my favorite films by him. The twist at the end... Me and my cousin openly cried. I'm a guy and you want to pat or hug the girl. You can't because you want to keep some sort of dignity That movie and Wuthering Heights were the only movies that gave me a hard reaction like that. I hiccuped on Wuthering. Funny stuff. That's not completely true. Oz with the girl with the leg. The big one was, "The Walking Dead game" I played it for around 2 days. My cousin and his girlfriend come over at the end. You got to choose to kill somebody. I walked out of the room. I was going to start crying right there. I know she's a character, but I love that little girl. Check out youtube videos, a lot of people cry at that part. It's cool.
i love the fifth element and oldman in it is a stand out among stand outs. But i could see how Oldman just said yes before even reading it and i dont think he would have done it otherwise. Happy accidents.
