This month we explored our pre- and post-diagnosis selves. The parts we lost, the parts that have been reshaped, and the parts that never would’ve been born had we not encountered the everyday challenges of living with chronic conditions. We heard resounding themes of, "I used to be more social" or "I used to be more spontaneous," "I had bigger plans for my life," and in the same breath "I am now more present, more empathic, and more aware of my inherent self-worth." It is remarkable to witness in our 20 incredible Unfixed subjects how chronic conditions chisel away at their identities while simultaneously deepening and strengthening their characters.
ABOUT:
On February 1, 2020, twenty people living with chronic conditions began a 24-month journey together. They all received an email with a prompt, a question or an idea to help them explore a topic around living Unfixed. Then they set up a tripod and recorded their response with their smartphones. Some are living with the aftermath of a cerebral stroke, others are struggling with autoimmune disease or daily, debilitating migraines. These honest, unpolished moments are at the heart of the unfixed state - the highs, the lows and everything in between.
On the first of each month, they will receive a new prompt. Subscribe to our channel to stay up-to-date on the monthly community videos premiering exclusively here on RU-vid!

Thank you Kim Warner and all of the Unfixed community members for your most inspiring uplifting sharing. I realized how amazingly blessed I am for my amazing life and health and at the same time, how united I am with all of you. Your indomitable spirit lifts me up and I am better because of you. Thank you for your courage and strength to tell your stories and move out of fear into Love!

I'm unfixed; I finally have to admit that to myself...I am a type 01 diabetic & was diagnosed w/ Dermatomyositis & resulting interstitial lung disease complication 17 years ago...Going into remission and then relapsing about every 3-4 years on average. Been on prednisone daily for the last 17 years, along w/ monoclonal antibody infusion therapy & IVIG infusion therapy. Praying & hoping for a miracle healing/ recovery that it seems I get to the edge of, & then it all comes crashing down w/ another relapse. I went from a trail runner, weightlifter & kayaking free climber; now I can barely walk after 17 years of this crap. Current diagnosis is now polymyositis w/ ILD along w/ severe Rueumatoid Arthritis...Blamed myself for years for my health problems; I don't know why, it's not my fault. It's just the issue of being disabled & at my age not being able to function as I used to before. I finally have to admit that I'm unfixable. I've pretty much given up hope for ever living a somewhat 'normal' life, ever again.

To those of you who have never experienced a chronic illness, your worth is not determined by your production, your money, or your status. You are worthy because you are a human being. Be kind, have compassion, and notice.

Wow! Thank you for telling their story. It is the story familiar to so many people with these and other chronic illnesses, visible and invisible.

When I was in a wheelchair for only 6 weeks, I mourned who I use to be and was angry at myself for my accident. I wanted to be the person with energy, who can get things done and I missed it. Now I am better and no longer in a wheelchair. Whether it is a big accident or a temporary one it still changes you to understand more.
