I knew “ Pinky “ personally. . He built a lot of Buicks. Restored some also. He restored a ‘53 Vette, and a ‘53 Buick “ Special”. He was one of the best builder’s in this area.

@anthonyvisnesky6656 my dad used to help him part time. He did the paint on Pinky's bicentennial 76 LeSaber. We actually bought his 75 and the 76 LeSabers from him. My dad is Jim Galvan. I used to go there and sand on weekends to help out. I still remember his Grand National.

Good news is, the fire department opened up many doors!

You do some really great work and have amazing skills! I always worked on the mechanical side of the auto industry but have always loved the body side of the business as well. I think this is only going to be the springboard for you to do bigger and better things. Now all you need is some of your own gnomes to do all of your painting work… I will definitely continue to follow your journey.

I really hope ​@@vehcorstarts your own shop. Mainly RU-vid cars that you fix and sell. Maybe some customer cars to help with regular income.

One of the issue with owning your own shop is nothing is going to touch the apparently 44 year long sweetheart deal. Owning your own shop costs 24 / 7 / 365 where as a deal to " rent " shop time only costs the amount of time you spend there.

Man that would be awesome! I live North of Denver and there are so many crappy auto body places here by people that don't care about building a clientele of repeat customers. And warehouse space is pretty pricey!!

Move to Denver they said, no rust they said, it'll be fun they said. Worst year and a half of my life. Denver is a shithole, nobody can drive since they're all high, the cost of living is almost on par with California, and crime is rampant. They attempted to steal my '98 Suburban 3 times, one time while I was at a stoplight. Also I had the windows in my apartment shot out when someone got murdered inches from my apartment. Needless to say, I really came to appreciate the general calmness of central Illinois.

It took me a while to get the firefighters laughing but I eventually broke through their professional demeanor. No point in being upset, dark humor comes in handy sometimes. @@vehcorI have a really old shop that I rent from someone. Landlord is great but the building is old and some things are cobbled together from walls to plumbing to electrical. But it’s cheap and it’s 8,000sq ft of space with heat and AC. I fear fire in that place because I’d lose everything since it’s also my home right now with a temporary small living quarters (thanks to this lovely economy even on a $28.75/hr job for a Fortune 500 company it’s just all I can afford right now). I’m also a firefighter so I see every little fire hazard in the place since I became a firefighter back at the end of 2020. I’ve strongly considered seeing what it would take to put in even a “home made” sprinkler system that can still hold up to age and more importantly the pressure of the water that comes off the fire trucks, and setting it up with valves to control where the water goes. But I’m also rural so that place would go up too quick and there’s no hydrants so you have to rely on water being trucked in. On the flip side I’m right across from the fire station literally so once everyone gets to the station it wouldn’t take long to get some water going at least! (Also speaking from experience of what I’ve seen, when the volunteer guys hear a confirmed structure fire you can bet you’ll get the best turnout possible that gets to the station as quick as they can compared to a “single vehicle accident with no injuries” where maybe 2 people roll up to the station taking their time. Best of luck to you man, you’ll be on the up and up soon enough and build yourself back even better!
