He should use the physician's directory in Alberta to filter out doctors in Edmonton who speak Ukrainian and see if any can give him any pointers. Start doing some volunteer hours at the local hospital to get a feel of things to see which discipline of medicine he wants to practice. The climb to becoming a doctor in Canada with foreign credentials is a steep climb, this is a protected profession and even getting residency slots are very competitive. Canadians who don't qualify for medical school tend to head to the Caribbean and US schools. The ones from the Caribbean schools are not given any preference when they get back to Canada and eventually leave to practice in the US. He may also want to try the US green card lottery just for the kicks.

One need not live in Ukraine to know about Ukraine. We are living in a global village and information highway. I am always sad when people with half brains resort to name callings to buffer their points in debates using such words like “shallow “ to describe their opponents Only people with half brains will choose Ukraine over Canada and US. This can be tested at Ashaiman and Kejetia markets. It the gentle Ukraine trained doctor will be honest between Canada and US where will he prefer to practice his profession given the two countries are enjoying peace? How many Canadian and US doctors go to practice their professions in UKraine and vice versa? Individual preference I does not mean “best”. Some people prefer enduring pain on earth for heaven while others will do the opposite. But there is a general best. Nobody is obessed with Canada and US and if they do how many are obessed with Ukraine and why? If somebody chooses to live in Ghana over US and Canada that is preference and not “best “. Preference is defined by individual reasons and not common standards. It is important to defend your position without calling people names.
