A few unseen mechanics players might not know about 1) While higher difficulties reward more and rarer materials to upgrade your destroyer, it does not have a greater impact on the overall war effort. This means the masses of new players have just as great an impact as those that do solo Helldive difficulty. Don't be afraid to drop the difficulty down to speed run objectives to help liberate or defend a planet. 2)Points of Interest are _Important._ Even the minor ones. Not only are they a great source of extra Medals, requisition points, and samples, but they can also hold super credits. Be sure to investigate the area thoroughly. If there's still a diamond on your mini-map, then there's still loot there. 3) At mini points of interest, you might come across a blue or orange looking wall. This is a shipping container. Use an explosive to blast off its hinges and get the loot inside. 4) It's good to know about stealth mechanics. Line of sight and sound profiles. Line of sight is exactly as it sounds. Enemies have a certain cone of vision where they can spot you. As for sound profile, there are two types. Your personal profile and your weapon's profile. Your sound profile is influenced by your stance (standing, crouching, prone) your move speed (crawling crouch walk, normal walk, sprinting) your armor and its perks. A Helldiver laying prone in light armor with the scout bonus is the most silent thing in the game at current. Enemies can almost walk right on top of you without detection. Weapon profile is still being tested, but preliminary results show that SMGs, Pistols, and energy weapons are the quietest. Enemies will react and move towards different sound profiles if they are within range. Note: Just because an enemy reacts to a sound does not mean you've been spotted. You can use explosives and turrets to misdirect enemies if you haven't been detected. 5) Some objectives have unique clear conditions. Objectives like the Illegal Broadcasts don't need to be hacked. If you have an explosive weapon or eagle/orbital strike, you can destroy the tower by shooting the radar dish/screens. Hope these tips help. Get out there and spread some Managed Democracy Helldivers.
I would like to add that point 1) has since been changed, planetary progession is based around XP gained, thus for the war effort, playing higher difficulty is more important. That being said, nobody is should feel pressured into that, if you want to derp around in lower difficulty and just have fun, thats perfectly fine. Every bit of effort is rewarded, regardless how small. ^^
As a rabid anti-preorder advocate I will say that Helldivers does microtransactions right. It's the first game I've seen that only has ONE currency AND isn't stingy with it in game. Sure you can buy currency, but it doesn't make sense to do that unless you really want it. As a system it makes sense, it just means that your buddy who works 40+ hours a week and has 3 kids can still have as much cool stuff as you.
I feel the extreme need to point out that Grimdark is absolutely goofy. How funny or how horrific the setting is really depends on the perspective from which the story is told. In the Twice dead king we see the Necrons as a legion of the damned, a people that can only ever decline, both in numbers but mentally as well, with the protagonist suffering extreme mental pain any time he remembers he doesn't have a mouth or lungs while desperately trying to take a berth. But then in The Infinite and the Divine it's two old guys engaging in a what is essentially a prank war on a cosmic scale, because both want the same thing for their respective hobby, but also because for all their professed and openly proclaimed hate, they absolutely enjoy each others company. Orks in Hells reach are horror movie monsters but in Ghazghkull prophet of the Waaagh or in Brutal Kunnin they're basically a civilization made up of the three stooges. Humanity is also just absolutely ridiculous with everything being built like a cathedral, with a cathedral on it or both. It's religious zeal and totalitarianism taken to 11 and it's not remotely subtle.
It used to be that way. Back when Warhammer, too, was a satire of fascism. Since then they have rried to make the franchise more serious and in turn have sacrificed the ridiculousness of the violence and oppression and strayed into being actual pro fascist propaganda. There is a reason half the fan base is Nazis nowadays
Super Earth literally denounces fascism and its enemies are fascist. If Super Earth were fascist then there wouldn’t be private industry, and military service would be mandatory so there would be no need to try to convince people to volunteer to join during an era of total war. Honestly, the fact Super Earth isn’t doing mass drafting while it’s under existential threat of annihilation shows just how freedom loving it is. It does significant limit free speech, similar to how our governments do, which is deplorable, but unfortunately common during times of war.
As a long time Helldivers 1 fan, seeing a bunch of my favorite youtubers discover and be pleasantly surprised by HD2 has been exceedingly awesome. I'm glad you're enjoying the game, and I'll see you on the battlefield o7
In my advanced age I've grown to appreciate PvE games much more than PvP. It feels like games that focus on or are solely PvP experiences develop extremely toxic fanbases and require twitch reflexes and hyperfocus, which just aren't enjoyable to me anymore. I miss playing the original MW and MW2 and talking shit in the lobbies, but I don't think I'd enjoy that as much anymore.
Oh man, I feel that a lot. I played the original MW2 extensively, and I enjoy Halo Infinite now, but I definitely mesh a lot more with games like this.
The reason it feels so good is because of the metal gear solid 5 move sets they use in it. You can tell the developers really like kojima games. Weirdly I think this is a strand game like death stranding
3:05-3:10 i have died way to many times due to "Alt" tabbing out of the game, for those who don't have Helldivers 2 ALT for us PC users is to dive out of the way
You know, it's interesting to me to look at people go into a game they are very clearly not familiar with the genre of, yet it is something almost second nature to me. I played a lot of shooters, horde shooters included (DRG, the tide games, but not left for dead crucify me). So when I picked this up I was running solo and only had my first death at lvl 6. So it was weird to me to see two people stealth on two. However I'd be that bumbling idiot who has no idea how to do a feudal rush in Age of empires/reaper rush in starcraft. I have no idea how to build a balanced economy in a 4x game. And I look like a baby just pummeling a controller with little baby hands when I play any fighting game. So I imagine players of those games observing me would experience something similar.
Archangel1047 SES: Sword of Liberty It's that was your first planet fighting against automatons? my first planet was malevelon creak a planet Vietnam enemy tanks everywhere trees speaking binary laser shot coming everywhere again wow it was a hellhole. That was level 4 challenging difficulty trust me do not want to know what was level 9 helldive difficulty PTSD sad laughter
@@khanlusa No, I'm absolutely serious. Managed Democracy is the conclusion you arrive at if you continue French Liberal thought, coming from current representative democracies. It forces inclusion... which is what makes you think "fascism" but no, it's not. not even close. And in W40k there's nothing fascist about the IoM. Most planets govern themselves, making it a confederation. The Imperial Cult consists of thousands of different emperor worshipping confessions. (decentralized) Agnosticism is accepted, but not pushed. All human groups that do not worship chaos are accepted. Yes, even most mutant variants. That already makes it not fascist. It's not even universally authoritarian.
It's such a weird game to me because I'm always cheering for the robots when watching it. Im sure the gameplay is wonderful but my heart makes me feel like i should play Wolfenstein after seeing any of the games faux-propaganda.
Oh there’s PvP, maybe it’s not the focus but we’ve lost nearly a billion Helldivers in the two months or so since the wars start and something like twenty percent of those fatalities are victims of a fellow helldivers over-enthusiastic application of democracy. So basically it’s only surprise pvp because no helldiver would be vile enough to intentionally kill their fellow liberators. There’s literally a KIA counter on the globe, just something to consider for those who are more careless or favour a more attritional approach to spreading managed democracy.
