I think some of produce price variences can be put down to bring in/out of season. Serms line processed and 'treat' food have trally increased in cost.
I agree. There’s a seasonal aspect to it definitely but a lot of non seasonal items have shifted too. I try not to buy too much processed food but I’d imagine rising energy costs probably have something to do as the cost to manufacture will be up xx
Definitely interesting. I feel prices have in the last 6 weeks or so started to come down a bit so it may have been different if you had done this a couple of months ago.We spend an obscene amount on food with 2 teenage boys. It has made me wonder though if you can beat it a bit by buying more of the things that have stayed relatively the same.
Oh wow, 2 teenagers to feed must be challenging! Yes I’ve definitely been swapping what I buy for things that haven’t gone up too much. I rarely buy beef these days as the cost per kilo is so much higher xx
Really interesting dairy 😭😭, shrinkflation yes, yes. Butter is something they’ve recently pushed down as a pr thing, not complaining but dies it really help farmers or the overall issue, oil is I think a volume thing I think it softens the curve again not complain. It’s the heating that worries me now as it hasn’t come down at all despite my strict dryer ban and it being summer 😂😂😂
Yup shrinkflation is definitely getting worse! I’ve switched to a milkman now as I don’t feel the price of milk in supermarkets is fair on farmers, seems butter is going that way too xx
Thanx Claire for the time and effort you put into this very informative video.... on a side note my partner is on the mend .. ....thank you for ure very kind words....she took some steps wiv a frame yesterday but still on the recovery journey.. av a great weekend you Ed and kiddies x x x x 💙
Great idea for the comparison and wasn’t too bad, I was also expecting it to be more. I do think the branded items like Heinz ketchup, Cadbury mini rolls, lurpak etc have gone up by ridiculous amounts ❤
I was in Iceland earlier and nearly fainted when I saw small cauliflowers were £2.29! It's shocking enough that your shop was over £6 dearer than January but prices had already risen considerably by then. I have 2 items that I continually refer to, paracetamol, which about 2 years ago I was buying for 17p are now 39p and Aldi rich tea biscuits used to be 29p, now 55p, both serious price hikes. Incidentally, butter in Home Bargains is only £1.49, their sugar is cheaper than Aldi too.
Wow, £2.29 is insane! I wish I had older videos with the prices to go back and check. That’s good to know about Home Bargains. Thanks for the tip! It never occurs to me to shop for food items in there xx
great vlog I actually thought it would be a lot more found certain things I buy have gone up at least 50p and some only a few pence but now shop around more than I ever used to
Biggest hikes for me is the 700g stewing steak and mince family packs used to be roughly around 5 pounds odd now way over 6pounds. Chocolate the racer bars (snickers) i remember paying 69p now they are over £1 Also the basics choc bars 100g i use foe crispy cakes was 19p increased to 30p held there for a while and now 43p a bar. Walkers crisps 2 pks for 6 in iceland have crept up to 2 for £9. 😂 yes me and my mam have the how much ??? Conversation every Wednesday!! Atora suet shot up to and bisto gravy granuels.
I always wince whenever I buy meat. I found a good deal on lamb locally though, £95 for a half lamb works out £12 per kilo so cheaper than the shops and it’s really local. Scary times isn’t it! Xx
I personally don't think that is a lot of increase, i pay way over those prices for things here in Spain even if i shopped at Aldi which i dont but ... x
Before you start- I’m going to guess 40% I’m more shocked by the laptop- I’m processing that, pardon the pun !! Lol,il be back to edit xx Edit; I was expecting more to be honest.but I think where I assumed, this part was from way back when it all started rising, however,it’s still surprising. Great video.very interesting to see the price comparison. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙌💖
I’m pretty sure it has too. I didn’t have any to compare in this shop as I’m still using up my freezer but I will do a comparison soon. I only ever buy it on offer anyway xx
If it's ten pounds a week, then is it 40 pounds a month, cause that is a lot for one family, I think. "Course, some folks would say chocolate is a luxury item, but then, they just don't know...Will send a sleeping spell over Lilith this weekend, for a tiny bit of relief.
I always get 4 single tins of tuna its cheaper than getting 4 tins in a cardboard sleeve . My cats will only eat aldi cat food the pouches and I'm so glad they have started selling pouches in big boxes and I get aldi cat litter the other month it was 1 .99p now its 2 .19 p for all us shoppers know things have been in the warehouse for months and they have banged the prices up ,but I'd rather shop at aldi than asda as I went into asda the other month and get 1 basket of shopping and it cost30 pound I only went in to see if the was anything in the clothes Isle I fancied if I was a size 10 to 16 I would of been OK the was plenty of clothes but I'm not im an 18 and something fit into a 16 I don't go by sizes any more it's the make of clothes and where I get them from
