Ryan Dungey speaks on his relationship with James Stewart and opens up about the incident that happened in 2016 A1 where Ryan collides with James Stewart which ultimately ended his career.
Ryan Dungy is a total gentleman and good person. I was in the tunnel at SX and saw him with his mechanic waiting for the LCQ. Ryan's bike failed in the heat race and forced him to the LCQ. A mom and her little kid somehow got in the tunnel and walked over to Ryan and asked him for a picture with the little kid. His mechanic started to tell the mom no, but Ryan said yes and put the kid next to him and smiled for the picture. The thing I remember about this moment was the serious look on Ryan's face.... he was racing for the championship and looked kind of nervous because anything can happen in the LCQ. Yet he took the time to make some random kid the happiest kid in the stadium. Great character
Love hearing these stories man! Those little moments are so huge for the little guys! Life sucks at times and we are never living and enjoying the moments we are living!
That was the day his WP gas suspended (no spring) shock collapsed on the gate😳Harmonic frequency just blew the seals and all of the fluid and nitrogen out...they NEVER used that shock again‼️Yes, Ryan Dungey re-wrote the book on pure training driven excellence and good attitude {While going thru all of Jason Lawrence's psychological and physical take-out BS😖}
I was doing the ktm challenge and my mom went to get Ryan’s autograph for me and he stopped what he was doing walked over to the KTM tent and asked me for my autograph. To this day one of my favorite memories as a kid.
Dungey is one of those guys that you would never expect to have been as good as he was.he has zero ego. That's pretty rare in our sport, purely because you need to believe you are the best, and can beat everyone on the line.it can easily slip into a negative effect on the ego,but dunge always came across as a regular guy that didn't realise just how good he was. That's such a cool story you shared, and I'm glad you shared it 👍
Ryan dungy is just a great guy. Great racer and love what he does still for the sport. He took time at last year's sx race in irving tx to take pictures with my 4 year old grandson. Just a down to earth guy. Wish him all the best
This is by far one of the best moto podcasts! You really need a little tv or screen that you can pull up the stuff your talking about! Would make it even more epic! Good stuff gypsy tales !
Ryan is an amazing racer/ ambassador for the sport and all does for st Jude. As honest as they come the whole Dungy family is as real as it gets true Americans they’re willing to help anyone in need will go out of their way to do so !!! Can’t wait to watch the rest of this interview. RD5 forever !!!
My sister bid on some of his gear in a silent auction and although I’ve never been w RD fan, after this I’m so honored to have his signed jersey and merchandise in my office. Class act, total gentleman.
He's probably not the best interview but he really is an awesome guy. I saw him at Budds Creek one year walking behind the semi toward his motorhome after practice and it was obvious he was heading in to relax before the motos. A guy with his young son saw him and called out just as he was opening the door to the motorhome. Ryan could have easily ignored them and gone inside but he didn't. He walked over to them and signed the kid's shirt and took a pic. Not only was he overly polite, he talked to the kid for a few minutes before he went inside. I really wanted to get a picture with him but after I saw that I wasn't about to ask him. 100% class.
Still got a pic of meeting Dungey back in the day at the GA Dome, One of the nicest guys I’ve met and very humble, Cooper Webb reminds me a lot of Dungey nowadays
Ryan is the measure for which ALL sporting athletes should be judged!! Perfect ambassador for his sport. Someone parents would love their kids to look up to! Truly sad when he retired.
I was so pissed when he hit james, it really looked like he could have stopped. But finally rd5 set the record straight, and he was so honest here. Thanks
I was in houston a few years ago. He and aldon were chilling way up in the bleechers two rows below my seat. PEOPLE and their celebrity reactions eventually made them leave. But it was cool to see them amongst the plebs.
Always good to see Golden Rod. He had nothing left to prove, but still had another championship or two left in him had he stayed. Tomac had to reinvent himself when RD5 retired. Eli seemed to thrive chasing RD5 and seemed lost for a season or two.
I’m so glad to have watched both the Ryan’s straight up beat James with both of them coming from behind James to pass and beat him including that race at washougal. Some of the best races. They retired Chad who was my favourite also.
Relax mate, this is an informal conversation between 2 people in the format of a podcast, its doesnt have to be like an interview where a question is asked and we wait for an answer. The podcast is and always has been just a conversation between people that you would get if the camera and mic wasn't there abd I think thats what case wants, a chilled environment.
Yup. And all the people saying “it’s a casual convo”, y’all just interrupt people in regular conversations? I’d be over that shit right away, same as I don’t interrupt people in casual chat.
@Natedoc808 well nate the beauty of this is that you dont have to fucming listen mate... so if you're that triggered by it then move on with ha life and listen to something else.
the last statement says it all LOL..there is takeouts & then there is racing incidents . Also ..the whole burn out thing or (just had enough of it all) .I cannot even imagine the grueling training /travel & racing on a peak pro level for years straight .let alone injuries . R/C left the sport at a time where he was racing 1/2 the tracks to say goodbye to the fans & he was the points leader in the outdoors when he exited ,some folks said R/C was retiring because of 7 ..so i think it lit a fire in his soul LOL.. so he beat the crew when all he had to do is go out & say goodbye & get a top ten . Not many racers can exit like that & RD was & will always be a total class act & brought up the sport a notch on the human level .RD also rode very smart & retired pretty healthy also .
I’m going to say they never really battled because when James would reappear, it would be midseason from whatever injury, and had no championship consequences.
Him naked on the bike for Red Bull was weird asf. You know what would be a good idea, you should hit this quad, naked with your junk out. He is one of those, get married to cover up that you actually like dudes
Never forget when i first saw him racing on tv, I originally liked villapoto and the way he rode, then one day dungey smoked him and was interviewed after he seemed like a genuinely good dude who just liked to braaapppp not the stuck up snob that I’d envisioned him to be in my noggin. From then on I was a fan for life
Dungey cometió un error, chocando con Stewart, algo que el no quiere reconocer, incidente de carrera dice...Y en su día nos mintió sobre ello, ahora nos vuelve a mentir.
You (Ryan Dungey) did not end Jame's career. The state organized drug commies ended Jame's career. 16 months off for a prescription med that is legal for anybody else to get. 16 months off this sport is usually career ending, and nobody in the industry had the brains/balls to stick up for James. Nobody here has the brains to bring it up either.
Absolute truth I agree 100% that was a complete BS deal and everyone should have been protesting it big time instead everyone just caved in then they complained about how he never made a statement 🤬🤬🤬
I will never forget the day I met Dungey... he was an absolute asshole. He wasn't even racing that year, was already retired. I don't know what he was going through, but still an asshole.
I've always said James bubba was the reason Ricky Carmichael retired... And bubba retired himself for bubba's 🌎 cause Ricky really was bubba's world back then.
Those aren't no accidents. Its whats beat for the sport at the time. I believe ama owners call the shots. Its alays about making $$$. Talk about the politics... and see whats up... james interrupted a dominant privileged sport 😂
No brother, you are a no body. I have no idea how you are. Ryan and I have been friends since 2012. You are just the dude at the end of the line without full context getting angry over free content… chill brother.
Anybody that gets to talk with as many legends as this dude is definitely not a nobody. It's two dudes chatting not an interview. Have you never seen a podcast?
@johnmalone2389 you're a sad lonely little man ain't ya? If you had the opportunity to chat with any of the legends he does you would just fangirl all over yourself until they walked out.
Best era ever, besides McGrath/Stanton James and Ricky then James and villopoto. James when he was on was incredible but he was his own worst enemy, villopoto was just so smooth I don't even know who's who in racing now I don't know don't follow I don't care
