At 21 years old, Tim’s OCD spiralled into an eating disorder. Years later, he’s much healthier and wants to help other men with their body image concerns.
Eating disorders affect approximately one million Aussies in any given year. According to estimates by the Butterfly Foundation, over a third of these people are male. However, the actual percentage may be much higher as their experience is often overlooked or misdiagnosed.

I’m watching so many RU-vid videos in this area because I’m worried about my 17 year old son who has lost a lot of weight due to strict eating habits. I’m so pleased you’re getting better. Thank you for sharing your story it was very helpful 🙏

My lowest was 117. I'm 6'1". I didn't see it at all then. For me, I somehow still looked bigger at 117. Looking back now I see it. Although, I never thought I was bad enough to be considered anorexic. I still struggle, but it's not as bad. I still have bad eating habits(Throwing food away, sleeping in so I don't have to eat, drinking tea). I still can't shake the working out after every "bad" food. I am still depressed. I've been through a lot in my life. However, I have done a lot to achieve my goals. And did so in the healthiest way I could. I don't beat myself or question my behaviors. I just accept them. I am going through a relapse right now and I remind myself everyday what I'm living for. It may not always help. But practicing these thoughts help. I want to live. I don't want to survive... if that makes sense.

Feeling so fortunate to hear Tim’s story. What an incredibly strong person he is! I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult it would have been to be the only male in the clinic- very isolating. So glad you came through! Thank you so much and I wish you every bit of success for your recovery.

Your story sounds so much like my son's story. He is 21 now and is finally opening up to get help. Thank you for sharing your powerful story. We have a long road ahead....

I have ADHD and OCD. It took so many years to get properly diagnosed because of the way they can mask each other externally while my mind is so chaotic.

2:12 you can really see how bad it had gotten in this photo. His arms and legs are stick thin. I'm sorry to hear it took this long for him to get a diagnosis and begin treatment. I hope things get easier for him as time goes on.
